This mod introduces hostile (NPC) bandits into the game. Please be aware that the enemies in this mod are extremely dangerous, and provide an extent of challenges. Treat them as actual players when it comes to combat. You will need to relearn how to survive.

Bandit Spawning
Initially, a small groups of armed individuals with melee weapons appear in the world. Over time, much larger groups armed with handguns and rifles will arrive to take your head. In multiplayer on the other hand, this happens independently for each player. Newer players will have more so simple bandits attacking them, whereas long term players will have stronger bandits attacking them.

Bandit Customization
Some general customization is done via sandbox settings just like for any other mods.

Customization of bandit looks, weapons and spawn settings is now controlled by Bandit Creator which is a separate mod you need to subscribe to in order to make changes.

What you need to know about v2 version
  • Besides killing you, bandits can steal items from you base, sabotage your generators, vehicles or crops.
  • Bandits can destroy things: obstacles and furniture blocking their way, destroy doors and windows, destroy or remove barricades, naturally they can also simply open doors or gates.
  • They can have different extra traits which determine their extra skills
  • They carry different loot depending to their profession and skills
  • They will resupply with weapons or ammo from dead corpses and containers nearby.
  • Some of them rarely may bite you as a recently infected desperate individuals.
  • They don't know where you are until they see you or until they hear you.
  • They can shoot all weapons, including shotguns, revolvers or rifles with scopes, weapon range depends on weapon now.

Troubleshooting
There are no bandits
Do not turn off zombies in your world completely. Otherwise Bandits will not spawn. Turning off zombie respawn is ok.
Their spawning has a large random factor. But if they don't spawn for 5-7 consecutive days then something may be wrong.

IThere is too many bandits
Use Bandit Creator mod to tune the right amount for you.

I am also having this problem, Silver Fox. Playing a new save with this mod set up on B42, zombies are sometimes flattened like pancakes and stuck in the ground. They'll return to normal when close but it can be incredibly infuriating because they'll sometimes be obscured under foliage and leap out of nowhere to ambush you. Also noticed sometimes the zombies freeze mid-cycle of their walking animation so they become a statue. It's infrequent but significant enough to be a problem. This mod is really cool, already created some super tense moments with it, and I'm hoping we won't have to play without it. Does anyone know if it maybe runs better on Build 41?

Anyone else have issues with zombies freezing and sometimes spawning in the ground with only the head showing? When you walk close to them then they pop up and start attacking. I have isolated the problem to this mod specifically and found others that have the same issue. Thought id bring it to the creators attention hope it gets fixed because the mod is fun just unplayable when this bug happens.

I appreciate the work done, this mod is incredible, if enemies surrendered more often, for example when they run out of ammo or are outnumbered and the pathfinding of friendlies (they break windows and so on) and so the guard position (they tend to move around and do other tasks — and together with the pathfinding issue, it’s terrible because they end up wrecking the house. So the only solution is to place them in guard posts farther away). if there were an option to make the guard system stricter and force NPCs to stay on their assigned tile even being able to manage who stays on each tileset or to disable those extra activities they do in the safehouse, that would be amazing. Thanks!

Is there any way to change this option from 23 august update, that NPCs/Bandits always zombify after death? (even when they are not bitten)

You should make bandit spawning follow the same rules as for zombie spawning/migration:

If you clear an area of zombies and then 'seal' the area with high walls and gates (even make an 'air lock'), then other zombies cannot 'wander in off-screen' or otherwise spawn inside. This rule respects players who take the time to secure and fortify their location by not allowing the zombies to magically appear inside otherwise locked-down places - even if they travel to the other side of Knox Country.

Bandits, meanwhile, will gladly spawn inside a sealed compound with no respect to this mechanic. It feels unfair to build walls, gates, and other defenses only for a group of bandits to spawn in the center of your base anyway. It also completely negates the purpose of Bandits having skills for breaching or breaking into bases.

Hello. I have the setting "break down doors" turned off but they can still break down doors. Is there something I can do to fix this?

yeah slayer is cool, and when i posted a discussion on a related mod about getting stuck and some ways to make bandits easier he gave me advise and ive been improving ever since :)

(am also even using bandits and day one while testing one of my own mods, which is still a work in progress) and its cool so far :)
