Welcome to Reel's Expanded Storage!
(Now with more displayed items!)

Yep, another storage mod. The goal behind this one is to give functionality to many of the already existing Vanilla Expanded Props, while also offering decent stack sizes, a wide variety of options, storage structures that display items nicely and included functionality to existing linkables including Vanilla Expanded mods, all under the Adaptive Storage Framework!

One day, I decided to make a local patch of Phaneron's basic storage, with the intention of buffing the stack sizes and throwing in some structures from JangoD'Soul's Simple Storage.
Then I thought, "Hey, there's all these unused textures in VE Props, why don't I give them some storage capabilities while creating some new original storage buildings I could really use myself?" Then SirHumphreyAppleby approached me and offered to patch many of the existing linkable benches to be able to store items... And so we got to work, which has resulted in this mod!

If you like seeing items displayed neatly in storage structures, or if you're a fan of the faithful Vanilla Artstyle from Vanilla Expanded, or if you enjoyed high stack size storage mods like Simple Storage but wanted something a little toned down, or even wanted linkable functionality for structures like Dressers or Cabinets... Then this is the mod for you!

And who knows? I might even update this in the future with new structures. Until then, I hope you enjoy!

This mod currently adds 30 new storage buildings and 4 new tiers of research that unlocks new storage options as you play through the game. With the Crashlanded start, you'll begin immediately with Medieval Storage unlocked. Pretty neat, right?

The stack sizes may be generous at first, but it's built around vanilla stack sizes in mind. Playing with higher stack mods like OgreStack will probably destroy the balance, but that's completely up to you. (I use it myself lol)

Building cost and construction time is a factor when it comes to balance, I highly encourage you to build multiple storage structures to get the most out of the experience.

Any mods that are incompatible with Adaptive Storage Framework, will be incompatible with this mod. Otherwise it should be compatible with most mods, if not then let me know.

Please check if any bugs you find happens without this mod installed. If it does, I won't be fixing it and you can report it to the original mod authors.
  • Combat Extended?
    CE is now compatible.

  • Integrated storage incompatible
Both of our mods change how dressers & linkables work. It's an overlap that's bound to cause problems.

  • DeepStorage SHOULD work, haven't tested thoroughly.
Notify either the author of DeepStorage or Adaptive Storage Framework if there's any problems. If it's related purely to my mod, then notify me.

  • Phaneron/ASF Neolithic/Neat Storage/Adaptive Simple Storage compatible.
There'll be a lot of overlap with the storage buildings, since my mod covers nearly everything their mods also cover. But they should work fine in general.

Make sure to check out Progression: Storage to merge some of the overlap!

Feel free to upload any necessary patches.

  • Why not use LWM DeepStorage?
Adaptive Storage Framework is more performance friendly when compared to DeepStorage & Vanilla Shelves, and is actively being supported by Bradson, the author of Performance Fish.

  • CE?
    Read compatibility section.

  • Safe to add/remove?
I believe so. Always back up your saves before removing mods..

  • These stack sizes are ridiculously overpowered! Please limit the max stack to [example]
Sorry you feel that way, but tbh I mostly made this mod for myself and others that would prefer storage mods with generous stack sizes.

I may change certain stack sizes in the future, but it won't be as drastic as your suggestion. I encourage you to change the XML values or make a patch that significantly nerfs the mod.

Original art, GIFs & XML stuff done by me.

Thanks to SirHumphreyAppleby. for the Linkables XML & Vanilla Expanded-related patches. You're an absolute legend.

Special thanks to Oskar Potocki for granting me permission to edit textures from VFE Props, as well as continuing to carry the rimworld modding scene with Vanilla Expanded.
Check out Vanilla Expanded here!

Thanks to Bradson who created the Adaptive Storage Framework, this mod would not exist without it.

Credits to The Oracle of Thessia for the face textures used in the thumbnail.

Thank you Tynan Sylvester and everyone at Ludeon Studios for this amazing game! (pls add more caravan events)

Translation mods are allowed, as long as you credit & link back to the original mod.

You can add Spacer Container Stacks to your Gravships again, I fixed it lmfao

Does this mod make storage buildings unable to be styled for anyone else?

So is this basically just Neat Storage but shiny?

I absolutely love this mod, it adds so much to the game! One thing I feel could make it even better would be more options for storing raw food and plants, especially in mid- to late-game colonies. The Double Shelf and barrels are great, but they quickly become insufficient as the colony grows. Having larger storage solutions would make food management so much better.

Sorry for the previous comment, I'll explain better. Also, forgive me if i write something wrong bc i'm not a native English speaker...

In a save where I already had the mod, all the shelves, clothing cabinets, and medicine cabinets weren't loading their textures. Can you help me with this? :slimehappy:

That's just the warnings Graphics Settings+ has been logging throughout 1.6 for rimpy generated textures having been officially turned into errors now. Rimpy's compression settings don't work with the current unity version. Use any other converter instead, like rimsort or todds, or just redownload the mod with its dependencies and leave it as is. It does work when not messing with it

High chance it's related to the DDS changes.

It looks like textures in existing saves aren't loading? Shelves and whatnot in the world as well as in the architect bar are just large low res question marks.

I'm not noticing any issues. Describe the problem, "messed up the structures" could mean literally anything.

Lovely.
