Actually this mod was inspired by the devs who talked about the idea for a new border system. I simply took their idea and made it into a mod before they officially released the 2.0 with the new border system.

Wait... HOLY FUCK THIS WAS THE INSPARATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tmonahan23  [author] 9 Feb, 2018 @ 1:53pm
I just made it so if your using hyperdrive, there is a lot more hyperlanes to help the ai empires expand better. Looking into making all systems have some deposit in it.
henk 9 Feb, 2018 @ 6:49am
what's changed?
EclipsedStar 28 Jan, 2018 @ 11:49am
did you change the time it takes to build frontier outposts?
Sedulus 22 Dec, 2017 @ 11:27pm
Super Mod! I had seen the mod before and I'm glad to have found it again. I find one of the best mods! Thanks for that! Greetings
Scorvius Prime 20 Dec, 2017 @ 7:30pm
Thanks Tmon, Yea it musta been a glitch, I had to redo my custom empire but once I created it again and changed the flag a bit, it started working again, thanks tho & keep up the good work! :)
tmonahan23  [author] 20 Dec, 2017 @ 2:07pm
The changing of the flags are usually from an adding flag mod or color adding for flag options, that was recently updated- seen this happen to me once and that was the issue
Scorvius Prime 20 Dec, 2017 @ 1:41pm
Does anyone know why ever game i start then save & rejoin my flag changes colour & design. Why is it changing ever save game? I tried tweaking mods, turning on and off but nothing seems to stop it?
Dobrynja 9 Dec, 2017 @ 11:24pm
ok, excellent thanks. this mod has spoiled me and I can't play without it now...
tmonahan23  [author] 9 Dec, 2017 @ 11:22pm
I just need to edit the txt file to the proper 1.9 The mod will work fine with 1.9 since it was just bugfixes
Dobrynja 9 Dec, 2017 @ 11:20pm
Also I hate to be that guy but what is the eta on updating this and the comp patches to 1.9.*?
Dobrynja 7 Dec, 2017 @ 7:11pm
thank you
tmonahan23  [author] 7 Dec, 2017 @ 6:53pm
@acerola - I will take a look at it, see what i can do
Dobrynja 6 Dec, 2017 @ 7:34pm
Is there a possibility for an optional patch to reduce the border extrusion on FE fortresses because their borders are far too big.
omzh 20 Nov, 2017 @ 12:52pm
Thank you for the compatiblity again, really appreciate your work man!
Boisegangpc 20 Nov, 2017 @ 12:49pm
Thanks!

Can you please link some of the Compatibility Patches in the description so dorks like me don't keep asking if you can make one?
tmonahan23  [author] 19 Nov, 2017 @ 11:52pm
@boisegangpc - There is a patch http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=933659173 This will work with the NSC lite and regular
Boisegangpc 19 Nov, 2017 @ 10:07pm
I just realized the Frontier Outposts conflict with NSCM/NSC Lite. Which is a shame because I enjoy that mod and I've been playing Hyperlanes only and with this mod to prepare myself for 1.9.
tmonahan23  [author] 15 Nov, 2017 @ 9:20pm
@ohamza - The patch is released for ExOverhaul mod

http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1202268807

I'm actually doing some testing with decreasing the cost of influence for building Outposts but..since the Outpost and Colonizing use the same lines in the Define.txt.... this will also impact the cost of colonizing as well.

This and a Mod for all systems with some resources and more hyperlanes is also almost done. The mod touching on resources will also lower the amount of space bodies having hight level amounts for minerals, energy and resources in a goal to help balance out all systems having some resource in them and also those who use multiple mods that allow you to create high level research buildings
omzh 15 Nov, 2017 @ 12:56pm
Thanks for the comment, I'll keep an eye out.

Also is the base influence cost supposed be to 100 for an outpost?
tmonahan23  [author] 15 Nov, 2017 @ 1:46am
@ZJK - yes, I will be releasing the compatibility patch for the Overhaul mod.
ZJK 15 Nov, 2017 @ 1:32am
Is a compatibility patch something concievable between the ExOverhaul mods and this one? I really enjoy the more territorially constricted play that your mod allows.
tmonahan23  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 9:36pm
@ohamza - Its the Overhaul - components and weapons thats affecting the borders. And Overhaul - ships and stations is the other mod that will impact a few small things but the other one is the reason for the border issues
omzh 13 Nov, 2017 @ 9:56am
Thank you sir. In the meantime which ExOverhaul mod is it? I can't figure out which one it is for the life of me, and I want to get your mod to work.
tmonahan23  [author] 13 Nov, 2017 @ 12:47am
@ohamza One of the Exoverhaul mods is whats causing the issue. Will see about getting a patch out for it.
omzh 10 Nov, 2017 @ 12:53pm
@tmonahan23 - apologies I have not checked the thread in a while. I am running a good bit of mods as listed below:
- ExOverhaul mod collection
- Guilli's Planet Modifiers
- Hidden Hyperlanes: Fixed
- ISBS: Living Systems
- ISBS: Micro Jump
- Legendary Worlds
- MEM
- True Hyperdrive only
- Useful Stations
- a few other graphical/ui mods and soundtracks
Dovahkiin 9 Nov, 2017 @ 8:19pm
im not sure why someone would want to build defensive structures anywhere but where the ports and outposts are since you would want to consolidate forces i would think. getting the AI to build outposts quickly was the problem i was having when i was goofing around with this idea. you are doing a much better job than i was, hence i ditched mine. there were some defines that i would have thought would increase the build rate but never seemed to make a difference. good luck with this though. i am having fun getting use to the idea of hyperlane only, though i would have preferred warp. they didn't ask my opinion though. lol
tmonahan23  [author] 9 Nov, 2017 @ 7:46pm
I'm right now testing a mod that will go with this or be part of it, which makes all systems have some form of resource. The trick is to keep it balanced to vanilla so you dont have way to much or little resources since that would mess up the progression in research pacing.
I also have another large mod in progress, but will mention that in detail when I have it more stable.

I will take a look at the influence cost. I often play with other mods which will give you access to more buildings that create influence. The reason it stayed was to keep player from expanding faster than the AI since the mineral cost is low.

thanks for the feedback!
tmonahan23  [author] 9 Nov, 2017 @ 7:46pm
@geneherr - The mod was orginally created from the information mentioned in the first dev stream , several months back..when they hinted on what they might do in the future.

I would be interested in a way to limit defense stations to only be built around outposts and colonized worlds. Will have to see how to get this to work. Any ideas on how to do this would be great.

Dovahkiin 9 Nov, 2017 @ 5:45pm
i would also suggest significantly dropping influence cost on outpost
Dovahkiin 9 Nov, 2017 @ 5:40pm
Suggestion, if this is a bit of a simulation for 1.9, then make it so you can build stations closer together and cluster them around outposts or wherever. commons > shipsizes >00_ship_sizes go to military_station_ small medium and large and change build_block_radius = . im currently using my own stations mod with this and i have it set to 7, 15 , and 30. again, just a suggestion. :)
tmonahan23  [author] 8 Nov, 2017 @ 10:36pm
@ohamza - What other mods do you have running?
omzh 8 Nov, 2017 @ 7:04pm
So I'm loving this mod with the 1.9 'good' hype, but I think I have a small bug here. Frontier outposts have as much border extrusion as vanilla, is this working as intended or am I missing something?
Toaster 7 Nov, 2017 @ 8:05am
In the dev diary they mentioned there was no influence upkeep, just the cost to build- is there a reason that they still have a (very low) upkeep here? It seems like it might put a hard cap on empire size.
Dovahkiin 28 Oct, 2017 @ 8:09am
I didn't consider the ramifications on border friction. Good catch
milka 19 Oct, 2017 @ 9:35pm
nice mod, can you add policy? (half influence cost for building outpost)
tmonahan23  [author] 19 Oct, 2017 @ 6:41pm
I updated the mod.
tmonahan23  [author] 18 Oct, 2017 @ 9:17pm
I'm sorry i haven't updated it but it should work fine. There were no changes in the latest update that would impact this mod.
Generic Imperial Grunt 16 Oct, 2017 @ 12:08pm
Three days later...and still no update?
tmonahan23  [author] 13 Oct, 2017 @ 4:04pm
Will update later today.
andrewjohncaspermeyer 12 Oct, 2017 @ 11:53am
Not updated for 1.8.2
Norwood06 6 Oct, 2017 @ 9:55pm
Thank you! The small FE borders issue is gone! The xenophobe & phile FE borders still sometimes spill over into adjacent galaxy arms (medium size) depending on their start placement, but that's easily got around with observe-checking new games before starting. Thank you again for the update, this is my favorite mod.
tmonahan23  [author] 6 Oct, 2017 @ 9:32pm
The NSC 7 / Improved Border System Patch is also updated
tmonahan23  [author] 6 Oct, 2017 @ 9:20pm
Updated to 1.8.* Let me know if you come across any issues
tmonahan23  [author] 5 Oct, 2017 @ 4:42pm
Testing the mod update. Should be up in 24 hrs or less.
tmonahan23  [author] 1 Oct, 2017 @ 10:34pm
Did some testing, looks like one of the FE types borders are using the base empire type - borders. When it should look like the other FEs. Will look at getting that fixed.
Norwood06 26 Sep, 2017 @ 12:33pm
Hi, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your mod. I finished a machine empire game without it and borders & expansion are terrible in comparison. When I try to run it with 1.8 some of the FE borders are changed: some are 2x larger than normal, while other FEs have the same border size as normal empires. Are you planning to update it? Please do! Its great work
MrBlazzar™ 22 Sep, 2017 @ 10:55am
I like the mod but I was wondering if you could take the Cede Frontier Outpost in this mod and make it a seperate standalone mod as well?
Kepos 30 Aug, 2017 @ 7:35am
Great idea. Unfortunaly my AI neighbours don't have reduced border expansion:

http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1123861043

Probably another mod is causing this?
