I'm going to guess it is still needed as SMA hasn't been updated in the meantime. :)

Thanks for this! I wish BI had set the default values lower. It's really offputting to see a friendly firing an RHS PKM 10 feet in front of you and barely be able to hear it because there's a wooden fence pole in the way.

Vanilla added in 1.68 2 new config values for SoundSets named occlusionFactor and obstructionFactor and the default values are way to high so if you have a "object/terrain" between you and the shooter the sound is very hard muffeld

I use SMA and don't notice any particular issues with the sounds. Could you tell me in layman's terms what this fixes?
