This mod now has its own LWOTC version. Check the description for the link.
I'm downloading ModBuddy to try to create a new version of this mod for WotC.
Maybe related to the load order, this mod should load last for it to work.
I'll see if I can get LWOTC running.
1) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\876043724\Config\ and open the XComLW_AlienVariations.ini file
2) On the first line of the file, replace [LW_AlienPack_Integrated.XComGameState_AlienCustomizationManager] with [LW_AlienPack_Integrated.X2EventListener_AlienCustomization]
3) Scroll down until you find this line:
[LW_AlienPack.XComGameState_AlienCustomizationManager]
4) Delete that line and every line after it until the end of the file.
5) Save XComLW_AlienVariations.ini
I haven't tested it because I'll need to install LWOTC but if anyone is willing to try it, please let me know if it worked.
A couple of months ago I decided to have an attempt at porting LW2's Advent units together with this mod to WotC but I haven't been successful. But now that LWOTC has reached 1.0, I might give it another attempt based on their work since they probably fixed the issues that were vexing me.
Second, about the attempts to manually change the tints, every time LWOTC gets updated, your edits will be erased and you'll have to do it again. The optimal solution is to create a specific version of this mod for LWOTC, which actually shouldn't be too difficult (it's mainly editing the XComLw_AlienVariations.ini file), I'll have a look at it.
Oh, and for anyone who's used this with LW2: y'know that bug where sometimes, reinforcements or reloading a save would result in ADVENT using their original colors? A side effect of this approach is that that doesn't happen anymore, so that's pretty neat.
To start, you'll want to go into this mod's folder (steamapps\workshop\content\268500\876043724), enter the config folder and make a copy of XComLW_AlienVariations.ini somewhere (This is all that we actually need this mod for, you can unsubscribe from it after this point if you wish. You won't want to activate it - I neither know nor care what will happen if you try, but it won't be anything useful).
With the upcoming changes in War ot the Chosen and since I've switched back to playing vanilla X2, I'm not going to update this mod for a while
I have a small question/request.
The advent grenadier and gunner both use xcom weapons, however the total advent armory mod contains both an advent version of mag cannons and grenade launchers. Can you give the grenadier and gunner their respective weaponry? It would really seal the deal for me, and I am sure for many others as well.
DerBk did the same for his aba version of those enemies, maybe he can tell you how he did it or help you.
And now I am probably asking too much lol, but in the future can you also give the viper king the plasma version of the boltcaster after the nest mission is completed? Its just kinda silly to me that he would choose to keep the basic bolt caster after he joins the aliens. Maybe also make the plasma that it shoots green, like the muton elite´s heavy plasma cannon.
Yeah I've seen the black and white lancer in the game files and it seems quite nice, but I never figured out how to edit the vanilla units.
@Ayy LMAO
It's possible but as said before, I'm really not an expert there

I don't how it's possible to have both versions appearing during a mission, I'd think more likely that you misidentified them but from your description of the grenadiers it definitely looks like the previous reported issue that Back is Black needs to be after LW2 in the mod loading order, otherwise you'll get the LW2 color settings.
It includes support for the Alien Pack previously released by Pavonis Interactive"
What you need to do is install both this mod and LW2 (as it is required) but don't select LW2 on the mod launcher. Or just uninstall LW2 after you install this mod.
I've looked into applying this to the vanilla units but the colors are hard-coded, which makes everything a lot more difficult. But since I'm OK with the vanilla colors this isn't a priority
I also tried to change all vanilla ADVENT units to black (Shieldbearer, Lancer) but with no success.
Thank ya much for the heads-up, on all accounts! ^_^
I had that issue a couple weeks ago, I ended up doing what you described plus deleting the local config files.
The file you need to change is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\876043724\Config\
If you change the file on the location previously posted it will change the LW2 mod. Regardless of which file you change remember to make a backup copy otherwise you'll lose your changes when the mod is updated.
I'm going to be doing some testing today with an all black color scheme, similar to what you have in mind
Good work, didnt even think of editing the .ini files to do this myself.
No kidding? So all I'd have to do in order to get the Peacekeeper colors I was talkin' about was to find the line for the Lancer, then copy the proper line of code and paste it where applicable?
All you need to do to change the colors yourself is to open the XComLW_AlienVariations.ini file with Notepad or Notepad++ and edit the values yourself
You can find the file on C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\844674609\Config\ folder and the lines you need to change go like:
ColorValue=(R=0.073828, G=0.073828, B=0.073828, A=1.0)
Where R = Red, G = Green and B = Blue
That's precisely why I was askin' if it'd be possible at some point to request a custom variation of this lovely mod of yours. I'd do it myself, but, alas, my modding skills are... let's just say "less than adequate." I'd totally understand if you didn't want to take the time to undertake such a task at the behest of one simple user, however! After all, everything in that thread is awfully ambitious!
