And yeah, totally agree on the motor blocks. The swaying makes it basically impossible to do anything but lay down covering fire.

Sorry it took forever. My editing software must do some kind of compression, because uploading to youtube has never taken as long as for this unedited video O_o
Btw, speaking of frustrations... Wouldn't it be great if the rotating pieces were a bit more rigid? Right now I feel like turrets are really gimmicky, because they end up being so rickety they aren't really functional.
Nothing like a good boss battle.
I actually wanted to make the center hull of this ship ejectable, James Bond style, but it was too much hassle making it functional and aesthetical. Its a drag to compromise! If I linked the center hull to the main body through springs, it became too bouncy to keep the hull satisfactorily stable.
I did nothing to facilitate the springs being "ethereal". In fact, one of the reasons I decided to build a trimaran was to make ejection of spent springs easy, but it proved unnecessary.
You're right. I did some fiddling, but ran into some issues which I was too lazy to resolve.. In fact, this ship has been ready in this form for a while, but I've been hoping to optimize it a little. In the end, I couldn't be bothered, but I will try increasing spring force some time. Thanks!
I dunno if I'm glad or disappointed that you see Jar Jar, but it sure is funny :P
The mechanism seems a bit similar to the railgun I built, but it's interesting to see that the depleted springs don't seem to count in terms of collisions. Can you confirm that this is normal behavior or does it depend on the distance to the next block or the detach speed of the object fired through them? I *think* I tested exactly that behavior for the X-3, but then it's hard to tell what explodes when if you fire a shot through a very small barrel.
By the way, I find the aiming quite simple. I didn't look at the numbers, but did you try increasing the shot speed with the springs further back to avoid misfires?
