yeah just gave this mod a shot, and the books are still broke.
I put some (platform collision books) up on a copper shelf, went far off screen, came back, and they were gone...
Anyone know if there's a fix out there for this?

I haven't played Starbound for several years, so I wouldn't know firsthand. If you find that they do, feel free to let me know.

lol, okay, np. But you still didn't answer my question. Do you know if your 'platform' books tend to disappear off of furniture and shelves when the player leaves the area for any extended length of time, like the vanilla 'pile of books' blocks?

Any weird behavior is due to the mechanics of the base game and I'm not aware of anything I can do about it.

Correct, the same collision as platforms have.

Installing this doesn't need a world/character restart, but UNinstalling it does. As, if I recall correctly, it adds a recipe for the new block and can't be easily removed. (Without code know-how and manually getting rid of every instance of the block that exists in the world[s].)

and platform collision is where the player and npcs, etc, can move through them as though they're background objects, and jump on them as though they're furniture or foreground blocks?
Also, just to clarify, does this need a total game+character restart?
I might be interested if it doesn't... looks interesting... especially if my books will stop disappearing off my shelves

Any weird behavior of the platform books is caused by how the base game does stuff. All this mod does is add a book tile that has platform collision.

also do the books still disappear if they're on anything other than the ground or a platform?
I noticed books will disappear if placed on shelves, etc. (as have many others)

I don't remember changing that, but they should be. This version doesn't uninstall easily, though. Use the other version if that matters. (Though that one messes with the Grand Pagoda Library.)

I don't know the first thing about using Tiled with modded blocks.

Hey, maybe the best option would be editing Hylotl mission so it has new non-platform books and vanila blocks changed to platforms (like in old version).

This way all world generated book piles will be platforms and mission won't be broken.

Not normal ones, since that would break the Hylotl mission. (You can in the old version, though. Which I've also uploaded.)

But when you break normal ones, you get platform books. Which are basically normal ones, but with platform collision instead of solid.

I had no issues running through the Hylotl mission personally, but I definitely saw where the water was flooding. Also, I managed to access a chest that spawned an accordion, so I'm definitely okay with the out-of-bounds issue.

It totally broke the Hylotl mission. Water flooded everywhere, you could access areas you shouldn't, you could cheese the pre-boss cultists, it was nuts.

Water kinda floods in from certain areas, and you can kinda bollocks the end cultists, but I agree, it's not TOO bad. Still, I'd rather it didn't do that at all.

ah I love this mod! used to use it way back in the day, always hated that the books counted as placeable "blocks" instead as a deco item/platform, so this mod is always god send for me haha, thanks for uploading it to the workshop Tanz! But i do have to agree with Kessler about the library, it would mess with it quite a bit, but i think making the separate crafting recipe that just used the vanilla book blocks and crafts them into your platform varients might be the best route to go. But untill then Ill keep my eye on this mod till a solution is made then I subcribe to it :happy_creep: . still though glad to see it here on the workshop and keep up the great work!

Yeah, this could be a huge problem. Maybe I'll make it so you can craft platform bookpiles instead, but that would make it less vanilla.
