Fun map. It took me a long time to even see that there was a companion cube , so I spent a lot of time trying to recover the redirection cube and get it out of its room . Once I noticed what I was missing there, the rest was quite easy by modern standards. Thumbs up.

As I have said more than once, it is good that these older maps stay available. Had fun getting to the exit.

Thank you for the kind words. During this worldwide quarantine period, we all need some encouragement and a sense of accomplishment. Stay healthy!

decided to replay some of my favorites. this one is still really fun to play :steamhappy:
eman.the.avenger 17 Mar, 2020 @ 8:52pm
I'll be honest, this one frustrated me after I accidentally died on the last step and had to do it all over again.Quite satisfying to figure out before then, though!
Sync  [author] 27 Nov, 2019 @ 1:33pm
Thank you for the feedback. I am glad that people are still enjoying this puzzle years after it was created. It took me months to design and perfect it.
stormsend 5 Oct, 2019 @ 8:09pm
This was a very hard map for me. I watched a video that was under four minutes. It takes me that long to figure out where I'm at. Nice logic in every step. Real thinker. I'm not a big fan of extraneous pathways so my maps tend to be much smaller. I enjoyed myself so it was a success in my book. Thanks.
jandlml 5 Oct, 2019 @ 4:59pm
excellent map! faved! there are dead ends but i was not stuck anywhere so thats good. logic was straight forward. really enjoyed this map!

Welcome to 2018. It's unfortunate that we now live in a real-life dystopia, but the test must go on.
Sync  [author] 13 Sep, 2017 @ 8:50pm
After a long hiatus, I've returned to Portal 2 now that my son is 10 years old. He's now capable of solving most of the puzzles independent of my help, and he can appreciate the complexity of good puzzle-design.

The emotional intensity that inevitably accompanies the threat of bodily harm, virtual or otherwise, triggers an adrenaline response that resonates with the limbic system.
cajundoc 19 Sep, 2016 @ 12:08pm
Again, I got fried by one, so how is that "no real threat?"
Sync  [author] 6 Sep, 2016 @ 7:20pm
Thank you for your kind words. It's equally satisfying to know that I have not endeavored in vain.
Doorknob 1 Sep, 2016 @ 6:22am
One of the best and most satisfying logical puzzles I've seen, and I've played a lot of them.
cajundoc 15 May, 2014 @ 5:55pm
then explain how one just blasted me. That wasn't comical.
Sync  [author] 2 May, 2014 @ 8:51pm
I apologize for that, but the turrets were added for mere comic relief. They do not pose any real threat, especially with the laser beam revealing their presence.
cajundoc 29 Apr, 2014 @ 12:43pm
Difficulty definetely deserves mega thumbs up. But getting blasted by an "oops" moment by a turret and having to start entirely from scratch can suck my balls.
cajundoc 29 Apr, 2014 @ 12:35pm
Holy Hell.
Sync  [author] 5 Apr, 2013 @ 8:52pm
I am glad you have the tenacity and intellect to solve this challenging puzzle. It took me many months to design this map.
Sandles 8 Mar, 2013 @ 10:11pm
Frustrating as hell, I had to read these comments such as grabbing the cube up from the tob using the lightbridge and SO MANY IT WAS SOOO FRUSTRATING. Consider your map the hardest legit that last trick was questionable imo EVER
Kiiyashi 27 Feb, 2013 @ 4:59am
Great Gods of Thunder.
That was brilliant.
Evil as all hell, that blockade at the end, but brilliant.
Slimpack 10 Feb, 2013 @ 4:09pm
this was a pretty tough puzzle. I had to take a break and come back later to solve it. This puzzle has some pretty clever solutions. There were some things I didn't like though. This puzzle has a lot of extra corridors and pathways that serve no purpose, also the acid pits are annoying and only really make the puzzle more annoying than difficult to solve. Other than that I think it's one of the better and more challenging logic based puzzles I've played.
lordthinker 5 Sep, 2012 @ 4:26pm
Figuring out how to get to the exit after activating the final switch stumped me for a bit. Nice puzzle technique to use the light bridge to control that activation. First time I remember seeing that. Always fun to learn a new trick.
Sync  [author] 26 Aug, 2012 @ 9:51am
Thank you for the feedback. I am glad that you did not give up on my puzzle.

Perseverance pays dividends.
Jamie-nyanchi 26 Aug, 2012 @ 9:40am
I tried doing this several months ago, but gave up after not knowing what to do for an hour. I tried it again today seeing as you updated it and I finally got it. Great puzzle!
Sync  [author] 24 Aug, 2012 @ 7:19pm
Sickle, your creative approach to my puzzle completely bypassed the intended solution.

Consequently, I had to modify the puzzle. Thank you.
sickle 24 Aug, 2012 @ 10:35am
Awesome puzzle, I enjoyed this one as much as the last :) Thanks.
Here's my playthrough:

once i figured out the light bridge, took me a while to find where to go next
ModFire 14 Aug, 2012 @ 9:51pm
Grrrrrr
Sync  [author] 30 Jul, 2012 @ 7:14am
Thanks to wstrika's tip, I decided to modify the puzzle so it is impossible to remove the deactivated turret out of the laser chamber.

There should be just a single solution to this complex puzzle now.
Sync  [author] 21 Jul, 2012 @ 8:57am
Looks like we have a winner!

Congratulations to Xtreger for winning the Interception PeTI speedrun competition.

His awesome early entry probably discouraged many from posting their own attempts for the competition.
Xtreger 21 Jul, 2012 @ 4:12am
@greykarel: Thank you
greykarel 20 Jul, 2012 @ 6:08am
Wow, Xtreger, realy awesome run. Take my congrats.

Here is my speedrun. Not the perfect one though the fastest I've managed to record in one piece. http://store.steampowered.com

I am sponsoring a speed competition for this map. The tester who completes this puzzle in the shortest time wins. The winner will receive a US$10 electronic gift card from Amazon. These are the rules of the competition:

-----
1. The playthrough video must include the puzzle in its entirety--from the arrival elevator (map spawn) to the departure elevator. The timer stops only when the puzzle evaluation screen pops up.
2. The video must be recorded from a single, continuous test session--no splicing.
3. The video must have the original sound from the Portal 2 game--no voice-over or overlay music.
4. Post your fastest YouTube playthrough video link as a comment here at the Workshop.
5. The playthrough must be recorded from the most recent version of the puzzle, released on July 4, 2012.
6. The competition ends at 23:59 PM PST on July 20, 2012.
7. Of course, no cheat codes can be used in solving the puzzle.
-----

Good luck, testers! May the fastest one win.
Sync  [author] 18 Jul, 2012 @ 9:23pm
Thanks for the encouraging words, wstrika.

You have a tremendously creative mind--using the turret as a step on the light bridge. That idea had not occurred to me. I do not plan to modify the puzzle to circumvent that exploit because this alternate solution is arguably more creative and clever than the intended method.

I look forward to watching your video review.
Sync  [author] 2 Jul, 2012 @ 7:16pm
I believe I know what Delphi attempted to do--he placed the cube on the edge of the floor and tried to transport it with the funnel's edge.

I have since modify the layout and that solution should be impossible now.

If anyone finds any exploit or loophole, please let me know.
Delphi 1 Jul, 2012 @ 4:14pm
When you changed the map to put the holes around the cube switch at the end, you introduced randomness to the puzzle. I well designed puzzle should not have randomness. It is randomness, because it is hit or miss to get the cube to land in the switch just right since you cant put the cube directly in front of the switch so when you start the tractor beam the cube is not right in the middle, which makes it randomly drop in the switch or to the side. It took me about 25 times for the cube to finally drop into the switch. Sorry, but because of that I had to give a thumbs down. Other than that, it is a very well designed logic puzzle.
Sync  [author] 21 Jun, 2012 @ 7:13am
I still cannot fathom how you were able to move the reflectocube out of the laser chamber, but I modified the map to make that impossible--or at least I hope.

Please let me know if anyone is still able to accomplish that feat (updated 6/20/12).
o+= 20 Jun, 2012 @ 4:10pm
Difficulty 8/10
Fun 7/10

I think the description of "requires logical planning rather than quick reflexes" is hugely misleading in regard to removing the laser cube out of the room. Also all the external crevices were unnecessary and again misleading.

The last few actions were not as tricky as the one laser cube removal solution and did not require much planning.

EDIT: It appears I used a unintended solution to complete the puzzle. I actually did manage to get the laser cube out of the laser room and used that to boost myself up to the platform rather than using the intended light bridge solution which I had just discovered. Therefore my first line of criticism no longer holds true as this map works purely on the basis of logic.
Sync  [author] 15 Jun, 2012 @ 10:32pm
That pit was created to simulate a sort of Rattmann den--minus the graffiti.

It allows the testers to inspect the underground sewage canals more closely. It is not part of the puzzle; it's an optional quest.
TheGeoBirb(*)> 15 Jun, 2012 @ 7:23pm
I tried the map again, did not see much change. But I am still curious at what the pit behind the companion cube was for...
Sync  [author] 15 Jun, 2012 @ 4:52pm
I made quite a few changes last night to this map; I hope I did not inadvertently create any glitches or exploits.

Please let me know if you find any errors or unintended solutions.
TheGeoBirb(*)> 15 Jun, 2012 @ 7:49am
Very different from the original, but still very challenging. Awesome map!
Sync  [author] 14 Jun, 2012 @ 10:57pm
If this puzzle seems impossible, consider a simpler puzzle designed by my son.

Thank you. I am flattered.

I will definitely try your remake when I get home.
◢ Vik ◣ 27 May, 2012 @ 6:49am
Since I really liked this logical challange I decided to make a remake dont worry I gave you credit for makeing the original
Sync  [author] 27 May, 2012 @ 2:08am
Thanks for all the feedback. I will definitely remove some of the blind passages in the map. Nevertheless, I am on vacation in Taiwan, and I will not be able to access my computer until June.

As for the location of the exit door, I tried to make it apparent through one of the blind passage way near the entrance. I was hoping that would provide enough hint to guide the tester through the puzzle.
◢ Vik ◣ 26 May, 2012 @ 5:20pm
the logical puzzel was nice however I didnt like all the good for nothing mazes. Make it cleaner. Also you dont know where to go until you get to the end.
