Well, you’re right on that account. I used to publish a new chamber every week, but now it’s every two or three months… or more. Like you, I put a lot of thought and work into these chambers now and if everyone likes it, great. If not, oh well. At least I can say I like it… well, most of mine I can say that.

Most of the maps that are on the top of the popularity list are extremely simple and pointless. I can make one of those maps in 10 minutes, but I refuse to do that because I feel that true portal players want a challenge and I intend to give it to them with every map I make.

@Andi
...and then we have most that create maps for the wrong reasons, such as fishing for compliments and looking to be popular rather as top priority than the level design itself. You and I (and a few others) are part of the other group that puts care and thought into our maps and lets the compliments and popularity come naturally rather than be forced. Those things should be earned, not demanded, by the creator.

We all have a learning curve. Some get better quicker than others.... I'm one of the others. My few chambers are crap... in my opinion

@Andi
3rd and 4th chamber creations are crap but my 1st and 2nd are a good start towards map making. I will always see my first four that way in retrospect. My technique got better as I kept creating with a fewer and fewer hiccups.

I've never tried one of your early tests.... you had the touch then too, thumbs up.

Better than most first efforts, quick and simple, a welcome break after an Azorae brain-twister.

A fast paced quickie. I enjoyed it.

That was an awesome short little test, I don't know how many I've seen that are short and are either stinking hard or uber easy, this is the perfect balance. lol, I slam-dunked the ball from the excursion funnel to finish it off with a bang. Loved it! 8.5/10

Nice map. Felt like there should have been more of a challenge to get the ball out though. fun 4/5 easy 1/5

Forgot to mention that Valve fixed the flip panel bug where one activator can flip it if there are two or more activators attached to it.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] 17 May, 2012 @ 4:34pm
@Shark Bingo. You found the bug. I still have no idea how to fix it.
Shark 16 May, 2012 @ 11:10pm
Activating the button more than once remove the portal on the flipping panel.
You should simply remove the cube in this puzzle.
Make the room taller. Often, the ceiling2floor speed is not enough to get to the ledge.
wildgoosespeeder  [author] 14 May, 2012 @ 5:01pm
@ThatFinnishAnon That is not the bug. The excursion funnel with the two blue activation lights connecting to it works as intended (both need to be activated to disable the funnel). I tried to apply a similar activation method to another thing that the box-button activates. That is the bug. I seem to have no control to make it work the way I want to with the puzzle creator. :/

Thank you! :)

The only bug I felt bothered with the reaction time a bit is that I got stuck on the button, letting me place the portal without the reaction time bothering me. Otherwise a brilliantly planned out map with simple solutions.
