This is one of my favorite levels. Such a great puzzle with the green cubes! Thank you, and I hope you build another one some time!

Nice level :energyqbeh:

I finally finished! The timing on the green cubes was too tight and unforgiving, in my opinion. I would have done 2 cubes then a rest, then the last 2 cubes. I had a hard time figuring out where to leave the fourth cube - some visual cueing would be good. But I finally finished, and the end was nice - but there was an activation cube right before the end, and I'm not sure what it activated.

Hard level. I think it´s pretty good designed except that you can get stuck at the first part if you left a blue cube behind thinking it was necessary to be left back there. But when you learn how to solve it, it´s quite fun. The green cube adventure was original and very hard (I died a lot) but, after that 'hellish' moment, the level is very easy and short, to tell you the truth. Anyway, I think your level is well designed as a challenge. You only have to fix the possibility of getting stuck.

Would someone post a video of the proper solution of this level? It would be a great help to judges and players alike. Thanks! (As few shortcuts as possible)

Ok, I managed to get back - thanks for the hint - if it was a snake, it would have bitten me. I am forgetting where all 5 green cubes are - I found 4 but can't find the 5th, and I can't complete your level without it. Would you give me a hint? Thanks!

Yeah, Look for it. :P

What really helps me is to watch someone play my level without any help. That really shows me where the weaknesses are. I just spent yesterday fixing my level again because it wasn't working as well as I hoped when someone didn't know how to play it. I thought things were clear, but they weren't really. :)

Nice improvements - I can tell that there are 2 pathways up top. However, when I ride the platform out to the island with the door, I got stuck. Is there some way to come back?

Update!

I like the platform that takes you out to the blue cube collection area, but since there is a door there, it says to the player "stay and explore" - but there's no way back, so you get stuck. You might want to make a green cube and placement surface to let the player not have to die.
Mrs Ellie 9 May, 2016 @ 8:04am
In that case, the activation cube for the final door would be better on a path that is only possible to travel later in the level. Otherwise it is not clear what you should do when, and that is a problem.

Ah ... ok. Thanks!

The Energy Cube is required to progress. Only if you have collected more Energy Cubes the Activation Cube above the fan should be powered.

The fan is SO much better now! It was a little frustrating trying to activate the save stone up in the air - it seems to be an unwritten rule that it should never be a challenge to get to the save stones to activate them, but I never thought about it till now. You might think about activating the stone easily, then having the challenge being figuring out how to go higher.
After I placed the first blue cube (always better if there's a sight line to the result of blue cubes) and going back down (nice return path), I got stuck and had no idea how to progress. Should I have kept the blue cube to use on a door and then re-used it again later up top? It wasn't clear.

Thanks for the updates ... it's so much better. Let me know if you update again. Thanks!

@Limboh: One Activation Cube is above the fan area and requires traversing some rubble. Near a save statue. The other one is past the area that requires green cubes to traverse.

I am grateful that you moved the fan - thanks so much! Could I also ask you to move the save stone too? That area by the fan is still so difficult, and there are still 2 cubes to collect ... and I keep dying. Maybe put a save stone near the last green cube before jumping on the fan? You could hide it behind some cubes. It would be really nice to not die so much and then have to re-do all those jumps, which are pretty challenging. Since it is the beginning of the level, you might want to make them easier and save the hard stuff for later on. :)

Lots of ways to get on the roof: You weren't too concerned about restricting access to the top of the level, which would be less of a problem if the final room had a solid ceiling.

And I only found one switch for the final door. I searched for 5 minutes and then just entered through the ceiling. I'm pretty experienced at finding hidden stuff, but I just didn't see it.
So this might totally be my fault, but it's something that happened to me.

I enjoyed the level overall, but some parts of the level have some questionable design:

Lots of holes in the ground. I get that it's supposed to have a ruined aesthetic, but not all holes in the ground have to kill you. I didn't die because of that, but I had to pay lots of attention to the floor, which is a pity since the level looks really nice.

The window for grabbing the second cube is very small and you have to know what's going to happen before you get there, so you are basically forced to die once. another savestone right before the ride would make that less of a problem.
DSpecht 6 May, 2016 @ 4:55pm
I like the architecture but the level seems to be a bit on the hard side, no? I also discovered a gamebreaking shortcut: When heading from the start to the left past the hole in the ground one enters a room with two automated doors and two activation cubes. It is possible to leave through the window and jump on the roof from there.
The biggest problem I had with the level was the platforming difficulty. It usually wasn't hard to figure out where to go or what to do, but doing that was sometimes quite an ordeal. This includes the diagonal fan, the missable moving platform and the green cube area.
This isn't necessarily bad, it is just something I personally dislike, since in my opinion this game is more about exploring and solving riddles instead of timed first person platforming.
Also, it is possible to reach a dead end: Once you open the door to the ending portal it is possible to activate a fan. Jumping into said fan can blow you into an alcove, preventing you from leaving.

Ok, I got it one time but hadn't collected enough green cubes. You might consider a save stone located after collecting all of the green cubes, or a floor underneath to catch you so you don't have to recollect at least 2 cubes before trying again. It is a really hard jump! Here's a link to my guide for building levels in Qbeh-1 in case you haven't found it yet:

I like the architecture - and I really would like to finish this level, so please let me know if you make any changes. :) Thanks!
Mrs Ellie 6 May, 2016 @ 3:38pm
I tried again and just die over and over . People in the workshop have a really hard time getting fans to work in custom build levels, though; you might want to redesign that area so players can progress through your level. It's really great that you built a level after owning the game for a week though! That's impressive. :) You do have all week until the 14th to improve your level - final judging is the 14th. I have already updated my level a lot - people are finding shortcuts all over the place. :)

You see the block on the right side of the picture, you need to jump from there onto the fan, this will carry you over, you just need to get it right.
Mrs Ellie 6 May, 2016 @ 3:21pm
Or maybe rotating the fan so it points straight up?
Mrs Ellie 6 May, 2016 @ 3:18pm
I saw the 5th, but the fan was just not strong enough to get me over there. A purple cube or a bigger landing spot would help!
Mosh  [author] 6 May, 2016 @ 3:16pm
There are 5 green cubes to collect, and you need to jump onto the fan so that you get boosted up towards the wall.
Mrs Ellie 6 May, 2016 @ 3:11pm
I collected 4 green cubes, but was unable to figure out how to use them or collect any blue cubes or go anywhere but the area with the fan, which wasn't powerful enough to boost me up to the higher area. Am I missing something?
