Titan - Mining Hauler

I'm a big fan of refits, from a thematic perspective, and I just came across your Titan. Good job on this. I think it definitely feels like a new version but certainly keeping the essence of the original desiign. I particularly like the feel of the hold compartment. Although I think the clean feel of the white room contrasts with what I personally see as the dirty work of a mining hauler, I like what you created and it has inspired me to think about operational variants. Nice work.

I love the new Mining ship. This is a very nice replacement of the Mobile Forward Operating Base. Thank you very much.

@High Ground - yes that is what you should build

@Skloomax - might have spelled hangar right, but for about a year I had Industries spelled with an extra "I". Turns out paint doesn't have spell check 😝

At least you spelled "hangar" properly...

Just joking, nice build!

Love the ship!

This ship is one of the largest ships I have ever built and it pushes the game to its limit.

The Triangle count for this ship is 883,324.

KSH recommends:
Small Ships - 80,000 triangles
Large Ships - 300,000 triangles
Stations - 500,000 triangles

I'd recommend keeping ships 500,000 triangles or less, and stations 700,000 triangles or less.

Over all fantastic work!

@High Ground Sure is. I went with simple. I only needed one or two airlock assemblies and didn't have to cram in a bunch of kit or seriously change the profile of the hauler for air, just chop and stretch the cargo module, add thrusters, and make sure I'm not overloading the power plant. The added thruster sponsons made a dandy place to stick batteries too.

@tomyironmane - Yea I thought about going that route but I like the idea of having the whole ship pressurized. I though about having the hangars pressurized as well (I've done it on previous versions). It's really a matter of personal preference.

@High Ground Look up the Rubber Ducky series of ships in my workshop. I did a few variants, including one that can do planetary landings. I took a different tack, though, and instead of trying to make the whole thing airtight, I just packed it full of stuff and expanded the bridge area, making it the only airtight room onboard, and suitable for extended living space.

thx i may end up building this beast of a ship it looks awesome
High Ground  [author] 1 Apr, 2016 @ 1:35pm
Blocks: 5,216

Intel 1 Apr, 2016 @ 12:13pm
just curious what is the total block count of the ship cause looks really useful for me in survival :steamhappy:
High Ground  [author] 1 Apr, 2016 @ 11:35am
@TheCatShadowGamer - So are we talking a large block ship that carries a fighter or a fighter that carries cargo and passengers?
Sakura 1 Apr, 2016 @ 2:06am
could you build a large fighter transporter for planets and space plz

@Bruce LeedleLeedleLeedleLee - You find several mining haulers in my workshop, its one of my favorite ships. My goal when I originally refit the mining hauler was to upgrade its capabilities while at the same time keeping the original look.

The mining hauler got it first major upgrade when Oxygen was introduced. Getting the cargo area to hold oxygen was a challenge, but thankfully I was able to pull it off. Plus the open cay walks keep the open feel the original mining hauler had.

This has parts from the actual mining hauler. Very nice
Sakura 30 Mar, 2016 @ 1:03am
wow

Originally I wanted to place 25 assemblers in the forward section and use Taleden's Inventory Manager to totally automate component production. I managed to place the assemblers, and began the setup process.

However when I ran the script for the first time the sim speed dropped by 60%, so I had to abandon that idea and reconfigured the forward section back into a cargo bay.

As it stands, this ship in terms of triangle count is pushing 1 million triangles, which is kinda crazy.

Such large and cool. Very wow.
Sakura 29 Mar, 2016 @ 9:57pm
this is a really nice ship keep it up

Nice!

Hell of a ship for survival, I think this must be the last ship you'd ever build, it has everything you need! Not only that, it has lots of good features and it's armed to the teeth :D
