Another promising but abandonned UCG.
Subotai 30 Jan, 2020 @ 1:55pm
Is this one dead?
Shale 28 Sep, 2019 @ 7:18pm
I wanna know what happens! Is there anything new planned?
Dcard 20 Jul, 2018 @ 1:28pm
Well it was a good intro. 5/7
Shmielewskii 27 Aug, 2017 @ 11:13am
I've given it a try and it was nice. FINISH IT please.
Shmielewskii 21 Aug, 2017 @ 1:31pm
Will it be finished? I'd like to give it a try, but I want a finished story.
Neekromancer 30 Jun, 2017 @ 7:14am
Aw man. I live in Tacoma, I was really looking forward to playing this but it's incomplete? T-T
gaiamancer 7 Jun, 2017 @ 8:27am
Nice. Nice and SHORT. Where's the rest of the story? C'mon!
SubzeroJalapeno 25 May, 2017 @ 2:48am
Is this dead?
ebbpp 9 May, 2017 @ 3:02pm
Nice start, but sadly it looks abandoned.
vynn_rook 3 Mar, 2017 @ 12:04pm
Yep that solved it. Thank you. :)
DaveOfDeath 1 Mar, 2017 @ 8:17pm
You probably need to get the geeked prop pack... It's required for most of the mods.
vynn_rook 1 Mar, 2017 @ 1:10pm
I have edition 3.0 or higher, and have played other user made content in the past.
vynn_rook 1 Mar, 2017 @ 1:09pm
I might just be doing something stupid, but whenever I try to run this story, I select "New" from the menu, select this story, and then select my difficulty. Then it goes back to the main menu. Nothing loads or starts to play. Anyone have any idea why?
Salvo1 23 Dec, 2016 @ 12:55am
Anyhow, loved the story in this mod, pro quality. If it gets continued, great! If not, it's an excellent proof of concept.
Salvo1 23 Dec, 2016 @ 12:54am
Nice, but it ended on a cliffhanger, and I couldn't get out of the credits by clicking "back", had to force close the game. Also, felt like there were too many fights. Bogged down the pacing of the adventure. My melee physical adept was also up the creek without a paddle because I didn't get a machete even though I had points in melee, but not unarmed. That little pea-shooter pistol doesn't help either with 0 points in ranged.
Eukalyptus-Mann 1 Oct, 2016 @ 3:26am
Good thing.
wave.of.atla 25 Sep, 2016 @ 6:26pm
Excellent design on the sewer map. Had a good time with this one. I'll echo the comments and hope to see more!
WolfWhiteFire 9 Jul, 2016 @ 6:30pm
Okay, I thought that might be it from the comments and the fact that this was the first thing to pop up in recent for this game, but I realized that after posting the comment, I hope it is being developed too.
DaveOfDeath 9 Jul, 2016 @ 4:31pm
Far as I know, it's just the intro to this mod. Hope it's still being developed though.
WolfWhiteFire 9 Jul, 2016 @ 4:21pm
Does anyone know if this was supposed to end as soon as you escape the sewers?
poespinkie 26 Jun, 2016 @ 11:37pm
Very nice linear intro. I've seen the city and the hospital and am curious to explore them more. It is nice that you can't explore all of these places in the beginning, but you know that you will have to come back to save your sister and discover what is going on in the hospital.
I created a shaman/conjurer so I cannot shot worth crap. When I got the pistol...I ran like hell! That turned out to be good. The items I found then were exactly what was needed for a shaman magic user. I will have to play again to see if another sort of character also gets items that are helpful.

Nice npcs. A good beginning for the character development. I hope you go further with this beginning!

Skree 29 May, 2016 @ 5:57am
Great mod. Will you continue this or will it be abandoned like so many other great mods?
Ann 6 May, 2016 @ 6:00am
I hope you will continue this mod development. Nice but sadly short.
tHAsWAPmEETpIMP 6 May, 2016 @ 12:14am
And we call it 'The Aroma of Tacoma', in quotes and capitalized.
tHAsWAPmEETpIMP 6 May, 2016 @ 12:12am
Hmm....From Tacoma and I dont think one could ever describe its smell as tangy. Unless you think the smell of briney feces is tangy.
Mizaroth 5 May, 2016 @ 8:30pm
that was really good! looking forward to more!!
@cheridan... i shot my way out in the escape, no problem.. ranged combat 4..killed every guard..
Kinzuko 4 May, 2016 @ 12:41pm
why is it so short?
Cherrydan 22 Apr, 2016 @ 9:15pm
Don't even bother arming the player if actually using the gun in the escape is suicide. That's bad design. Just have them find the gun sometime afterwards.
mafddoge 17 Apr, 2016 @ 3:21pm
There should be feedback somewhere that this is just a prologue, I was might confused when I suddenly saw the standard SRHK credits sequence when i was expectin the real game to start.
A Freaky Name 16 Apr, 2016 @ 9:43pm
I just finished playing (like literally). Loved it!

Thank you for the tip on the death screen suggestion I should leg it, I only had to die once before truly appriciating the valor of a retreat. I can't wait to see more!
Brave Little Sandshrew 15 Apr, 2016 @ 7:48pm
Didn't want to sound too nitpicky. The writing was excellent, and I can't tell you how much I like the whole hospital visit going sideways. Was even expecting the combat to be a bit dicey since I built an adept, but the encounters were very well balanced. Had turned the difficulty down as I was expecting a crit fiesta. Died once, but that was because I tried to punch out all the guards without realizing I should run.

Other than that, just wanted to say that I'm eagerly looking torwards the next update. Hope you're feeling better too. ^^
Brave Little Sandshrew 15 Apr, 2016 @ 7:46pm
Just checked the workshop today as I felt like playing some Shadowrun and saw this. I'm in agreement with the others. It's looking good. Most of the criticsms I have are echoed in previous posts. I just would like to suggest some more dialogue options and checks to flesh out the PC a bit. An earlier scene with just you and your sister would be good too, simply to establish the connection. Also, I found that it was a bit odd that the doctor offered me medical scrubs when I could just of easily crashed in the lobby wearing my street clothes.
Tally 14 Apr, 2016 @ 9:19pm
Amazing writing, wishing there was more available. Kudos on making characters so personable.
DarkTreader  [author] 12 Apr, 2016 @ 5:02pm
Apologies for the delay in updates, everyone - have just recovered from a wonderful case of the plaguedeath. The update that was previously planned is still forthcoming, and will have some of the changes and suggestions made, as well as a variety of new bug fixes. Thanks to everyone who's been pointing out some of the issues I've missed, and have helped it all improve!
steelcoresoviet 11 Apr, 2016 @ 9:45pm
A series of bad rolls made me go down the rabbit hole with about 10hp. Kept tension nice and high!
steelcoresoviet 11 Apr, 2016 @ 4:58pm
Subscribed just for the phrase "'Tacoma aroma". We shall see.
mosherk 10 Apr, 2016 @ 5:46pm
Definitely enjoyed it. Keep going! I want to rescue my sister back some day! :)
Stuurminator 9 Apr, 2016 @ 3:51pm
Greaseman, no. This is just the prologue.
Tingly 9 Apr, 2016 @ 3:43pm
Is this complete?
DaveOfDeath 3 Apr, 2016 @ 12:33pm
Played through this today, found myself really enjoying it. Posted some suggestions in the appropriate thread, but really... solid debut.
TheTeaMustFlow 3 Apr, 2016 @ 6:48am
Don't suppose we have an ETA on an update?
Slam 30 Mar, 2016 @ 11:56am
I got hooked by the story, I can't wait to find out what you have in store for us. I'll keep an eye on your project.
DaveOfDeath 28 Mar, 2016 @ 9:29pm
Looking forward to checking out some new content... Been a while since I could, since we've been busy with the Mercurial game, and upcoming project. I think I can spare 20 minutes to poke around this one though. :)
DarkTreader  [author] 24 Mar, 2016 @ 10:32pm
@Stuurminator -
Thanks! I haven't played through The Clean Fire, though I've seen a lot of good comments about it so I'll take that as a compliment!

You're right about the player choice, as well as class/role options - those are fleshed out in the later parts. I wanted to allow for some choice in dialogue, but not much within the Prologue itself. My aim was to make the player feel like they were being railroaded with very limited options for progress, due to the story.
Balance-wise, you should be able to complete it with just about any build with the changes I included in 0.3.11 - with the base pistol + included abilities, there should be enough variety to get through. I thought it would be a bit painful, hence the medkits. :)

I'd completely forgotten about that yellow jumpsuit disguise - was looking through all of the stock outfits and gear, and derped on disguises being available. That's a solid idea, adding that to the list.

Keep the comments and feedback coming. Thanks again!

@Cmrd. Deathcall -
Glad you liked the start! That and the theatre bits took the longest to work out. The SRR/DF/HK editors are pretty strict when it comes to order of operations, so if things aren't just right, everything breaks in spectacular ways.

Re: the runner meeting, that's one section that I wasn't entirely pleased with. I'm bouncing around a few ideas on how to improve the runner introduction there, and looking into a couple of story tweaks that may resolve the weaker points. Ditto with the ending theatre - admittedly, I'd gotten excited being that close to getting things done and implemented, and wound up falling a bit flat on the ending. Definitely will get some more polish and make it a bit punchier, especially once there's a smooth transition from there to Part 1.

About the guard -- Was just it the length of time that the character winds up not in control, or something else about it that broke the flow? I was curious if anyone would have an issue with that.
DarkTreader  [author] 24 Mar, 2016 @ 10:31pm
This is great feedback, everyone - exactly the kind of critique I was hoping for!

Thanks to everyone who's commented for all of the support, as well. It's rough and nerve-wracking putting something like this out for everyone to see, and it helps that the response has been so positive. I'm hoping to do a few more patches to the prologue before I lock the files down on my end to build out Part 1, so I'll be doing tweaks here and there probably through the end of next week while I finish pre-pro, writing, and blockouts for Part 1. I'll be staying active on here as well, doing my best to respond to feedback and comments in a timely manner.

It's been a few years since I read 2XS, I remember enjoying Montgomery's private eye background in that one. Solid novel. Thanks! :)

[And because Steam won't let me comment in more than 1000 characters, this will be a multi-post.]
Stuurminator 24 Mar, 2016 @ 7:13pm
Off to a great start already! The concept somewhat reminds me of "The Clean Fire" for SRR and DF. There's not a lot of room for player choice yet, but that's totally acceptable in a prologue. The "sick sister" hook is surprisingly effective at emotionally investing me in the narrative.

I statted out a rigger and ended up doing no rigging during the prologue. That doesn't surprise me because, again, it's just the prologue (and anyway, I dropped a few points into ranged combat, so it's not like I couldn't do anything ), but I'm hoping the full game accomodates the full gamut of character types.

If I could throw in one idea? It seems a little odd for the player character to start out wearing body armour when they're just an ordinary schmo. While this is easy enough to ignore, maybe sticking the character in the yellow jumpsuit "disguise" would help sell that they're a minimum-wage worker coming home from a day of work.
☠ Deathcall 24 Mar, 2016 @ 5:53pm
Off to a great start DarkTreader. I was immediately engaged with the story and the level design is very interesting. Your side-runners have a bit of a weak reason to have you tag along and there are virtually no conversation options or skills checks, but it's a great proof of concept.

I'd say the weakest part was walking with the guard. Took too damn long and broke off the atmosphere really bad. I realize there's an engine limitation with that but perhaps you can find a workaround.

Also that last line of dialogue with the dwarf was a bit of a stretch.

Will be waiting for new updates! Good job.
falsekithe 22 Mar, 2016 @ 9:08pm
is it just me, or is this mods like the 2XS shadowrun novel?
