After a point I discovered at least one glitch per mission. The most memorable was when extracting the Rooster. My main character used Astral Perception to hack the keypad while my remaining crew members slaughtered the Talon. THEN, after all that, I noticed a decking point and thought I might extract some valuable info. Is0bel snagged the info, but when attempting to unlock the gate, the heat bar maxed, and she died to White IC. Alright, my bad.
My complaint is that this results in Mission Failure, and I had to fight the Talon all over again from a previous save point! This is not correct. The gate was already open. It isn't correct anyway, as anywhere else she could have jacked in and tried again.
Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong, and how to fix the issue?
I still love the games in a way I expect Battletech will NOT fulfill, but also the world too... so here's hoping, as you say, that HBS someday revisit the SR universe with an even better, polished and immersive (and replayable!) game engine worthy of the setting. In the meantime, my hopes are on Cyberpunk (a setting I love even more than Shadowrun), especially given who's making it... :)
I don't think I know what Shadow Sale is... sounds pretty amazing!
Nevertheless, thanks for some fun times Banjo, and Merry Christmas. I know HBS will come back to Shadowrun some time in the future; hopefully they'll be cleaner about it then.
I just wish HBS would have given us a final "ultimate" version of the game to work with before abandoning it in the shape they did (missing music, broken models, etc.)
Do you plan on correcting the spelling of "Semopal" to "Samopal" ? It's slovakian for "machine gun", not a brand name. :-)
I enjoyed running through your version of SR:HK.
One thing I noticed is that equipment I "loaned" to the other runners in my team did not reappear in my stash after a run. IIRC thing were lost if lent in DMS but were returned in DFC. I cannot recall if it happened in core SR:HK but I was miffed when the Steyr assualt rifle disappeared after I lent it to Duncan before the last mission.
My apologies if this was dealt with on Nexus, I could access the comments when I jumped onto http://www.nexusmods.com/shadowrunhongkong/mods/10 via Firefox.
Has anyone else noticed this or am I just 'special' :-)
@ Banjo Oz: as I said, I played the game more than 100 hours before applying your mod, and didn't get the bug. I got it as soon as I applied your mod and ceased to have it as soon as I uninstalled it. So my guess is, your mod is responsible. How and why only some people get it, I couldn't say.
As I said before Christmas, I am playing through the whole game to check for bugs (I am up to doing my third run having completed Whampoa and the TV exec party) and will keep checking to try and replicate the bug mentioned. Obviously, due to the holidays, it may be a few days before I can get back to playing, though! :)
In unrelated news my mobo just died on me and I'm using a replacement PC for the time being, so I don't have access to that game installation and can't check it anymore.
Please update to v1.5 of the Slap Patch and this item should *finally* work correctly now (it is for me when I tested it).
@Navarre Is this further along than you got when you encountered the bug? If so, this doesn't prove 100% that it's *not* my mod, but I guess there's a chance yours was an unrelated glitch if I've not hit it myself yet.
Will keep testing, as I am enjoying playing through and it's good to test the whole game both to make sure there aren't other bugs from my patch *and* to identify anything else I need to fix in future! :)
Also, is there a chance or way for Steam Workshop mod to get "corrupted" when published? I ask because I'm using "local" versions of my mods while everyone else is using the copy from Workshop. Should I republish both mods?
Reading the list of changes you made, only a few changes seem to be relevant to the zone at that moment of the game: the Air Barrier spell, the Silver Tech Cyberarm (Basic) and the Robodoc. I checked the stores and they're all available, maybe the problem comes from one of these items.
Something I wanted to check: are the modded Spirit Fetish or Haste IV spells showing up in stores in your game? I seem to think you were too early to have them appear, but if that is the case than they couldn't be the cause of the bug if they aren't even being loaded into anyone's inventory yet.
Since I'm new to using Workshop (indeed, I rarely play games on Steam when I have other options) there's a chance I just botched something with this version and the way subscribing/auto-updates work.
I will definitely check over those two items, especially Haste IV, for any typos and such.
When I talk about merchant inventory changes I refer to the changes you made in the Haste IV spell and the Spirit Fetish specifically. Since nobody else seems to have run across that bug and the Spirit Fetish change is recent, I figured the bug could have something to do with it. It's only speculation though. The only thing I can say for sure is that I ran into the bug only in Heoi.
If you ARE using Expanded, try to see if the save bug still happens (might need a fresh start of that map?) once you've got Classic Drones. If not, then I'm a bit stumped and will need to do more testing.
You mention merchant equipment sheets but if you are using this patch and the "Hong Kong Slap Patch" campaign, there are *no* changes to merchants. The merchant changes are only from using my extra non-vanilla tweaks and are implemented in my "Expanded" campaign version.
Is there a chance you are in fact playing the "Hong Kong Expanded" campaign? The Slap Patch one JUST adds the Slap Patch fixes, while the Expanded one changes a few things such as making SMGs selective -fire, adding classic drones, etc.
I verified my cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the patches, no dice. Still can't save properly in Heoi.
The game couldn't manage to make a hard save when I tried in Heoi. I tried in Ambrose's clinic and in the MTR station, without success. I could do a quicksave or an autosave by quitting with "Save and quit", but the game just kinda hanged up when I tried to make a hard save: I could move my character around but not interact with anything anymore, and trying to open the menu didn't work for a while. When it finally did work, trying to make a save again gave me the message "Cannot save while in conversation". I had to reload and go in a mission area before I could finally make a hard save.
Never got this bug before applying the patch in more than 100 hours of playing, so it's probably the patch. I'll check if it does it again and if it's limited to Heoi or happens elsewhere too.
Darn, that complicates things now! Maybe "S-e-r-n-o-p-a-l" *was* the typo? "Semopal" *is* closer to "Samopal" after all, which I'm increasingly thinking - like Robin_WH - might indeed have been the original intention mis-typed back in the first 2E Arsenal entry.
