It's a real shame the fuel economy was so dismal. Our Safari 2WD used to get all of 15 mpg in the city and barely 20 on the highway. Half that with a trailer on the back. And the damn middle seats wouldn't come out. Dutch Doors were cool though. and the measly 195 from the vortec was ok, as it was offset by 275 strong, low down lb ft.

I had one as my first car. It was in the repair shop every 3 to 6 months and sure loved to visit the gas station. I always pictured it as my benz as it was an LTZ trim with all the problems of a benz.

Nice!! I have a 95 sonoma w the 4.3 non-vortec hooked to a 5-speed. sadly, 2wd. wish it was manual 4x4
