And another idea: a paintball gun, that on hits colorozes randomly a paint area of a human (hair, skin, pants, etc.) or animal or item with the color inside the paintball gun.

Can you give us a mod, that adds plenty new dye colors to the game? Or even allows us players to create new additional dye colors using the INI file sections?

Anyone know how to get hold of the developer of this mod? We'd love to take a stab at changing the Spawn weights to Nil or very very rare to elevate some of the issues current users are having, as a bandage fix until the game is released.

If the developer would like to do this himself that would also be appreciated.

We swapped to Dynamic Color Mod as suggested, however this is also not being updated, I assume as they were compatible something could be done to tide users of both mods over until release.

Thanks you for all your hard work Nyremis, I totally understand you discontinuing and wish you well. I look forward to seeing your return to Ark in the future X-) Good luck!

One question if you ahve the time to answer, if I keep this mod without changing, will it continue to function as is, except for the obvious lack of colour on 'official' future additions to the game ?

Cheers! :steamhappy:

Best regards,
Malkiziv

@Nyremis, I'm sorry to hear that you're discontinuing the mod for now, though I can't fault you for it. It really seems like modders are being screwed pretty badly with lack of support from the devs. Especially when you see they have a modding contest going on right now… you'd think that keeping you guys engaged would be important.

Thank you for giving people a heads up on taking the mod down, so that we can move things over to a new mod without issues. I have a question that's kind of related, and likely doesn't have a good answer. Is there any way to convert color mod over to vanilla dinos? I know it's possible to change the spawns over but is there any way to convert existing, tamed, dinos over that you can think of?

The lack of modder support doesn't seem likely to change at any point soon. I've been digging about in our server's save file locally and it seems like it SHOULD be possible, but haven't had much luck as of yet.
HerrWulf 19 Oct, 2015 @ 1:24am
Ah, that's cool. I knew things like breeding wouldn't be in until the dev kit had been updated, which is completely out of your control and pretty much random as to when they get released it seems.

So I fully understand it's beyond your control right now. I was just double checking to make sure it wasn't another issue of our server being... weird.

Thanks for clarifying things, saving my sanity, and for your efforts with this mod.
Nyremis  [author] 18 Oct, 2015 @ 1:04pm
@Herrwulf Sadly the breeding, rafts, and platform saddles are apparently messed up with v219 of the game. You can check the unrealengine forums to see that pretty much every dino mod is having this issue. :/

As soon as the devkit is updated I will resolve this as fast as humanly possible. Its been roughly 14-16 days since the last devkit update so its literally out of my hands.
HerrWulf 18 Oct, 2015 @ 5:20am
I'd also like to apologise for how negative my comments on here must seem to people looking at this mod. Just for people considering using the mod:

1. It creates some beautiful dinosaurs.
2. Our server has had a few saving issues that have had side effects with a few things. It's resulted in some oddities. This is not the norm.

If you want colourful dinos, this mod is amazing. It's one of the first things new players mention, and every single player on the server have amazing looking dinos because of it. It's well worth using.
HerrWulf 18 Oct, 2015 @ 5:18am
I've run into a few issues that seem to be affecting only our colour-mod dinos. This issue seems to relate only to build-on saddles. Everything's working fine until we try and dismount from the built on saddle the player gets stuck in a falling animation on top of the saddle, and is unable to move. Someone has to swoop in on a bird and grab them. This has happened so far on both Paracers and Brontos.

I'm not sure if it's something anyone else has experienced, or if it's just another in a lengthy list of quirks that our server is managing to cook up. It only happened, I think, since v219 was released, so it might be that there have been some changes that have yet to make it through to the dev kit just yet, but I thought I'd ask about it here, in case anyone has any ideas/similar experiences/ideas on how to resolve the issue.
BattleToad 15 Oct, 2015 @ 7:37pm
As a modder, I know this, I was just bringing it to the attention of the class, helping out a fellow modder :P
Sutha 15 Oct, 2015 @ 7:24pm
@Kaatoz - Any modder that adds any "new dino" can't do anything about the breeding till the Dev kit is updated. Was strolling through looking for color mods. Saw your post. Thought I'd interject :3
BattleToad 15 Oct, 2015 @ 6:15pm
Just a quick question nyremis, I think how the mod applies to the dino spawns are affecting the 'classes' of the dinos, I have thoroughly tested all the mods on our server, and the only one that I don't want to remove, for the loss of all our sweet looking dinos is this mod, a straight vanilla server will have fully functioning mating mechanics, but when the 'colored' dinos are brought in tis like they don't have a sex (m/f)

Examples:

Vanilla Female Carbo: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=535791750
Spawned Colored Carbo: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=535791695

No mating occurs even though they are literally humping each other. and all the exact same setup is on vanilla server and proven working.
Nyremis  [author] 7 Oct, 2015 @ 1:02pm
@HerrWulf No problem, enjoy!
HerrWulf 7 Oct, 2015 @ 12:58pm
Excellent, thanks! I'd seen the example, but wasn't sure if your dinos were using the same names. Thanks again!
Nyremis  [author] 7 Oct, 2015 @ 12:53pm
"DinoSpawnWeightMultipliers=(DinoNameTag=Bronto,
SpawnWeightMultiplier=10.0,
OverrideSpawnLimitPercentage=true,
SpawnLimitPercentage=0.5)"

Ok, here is an example above, as you can see they use DinoNameTags to make chanes to the spawn weights. All the colored Dinosaurs in my mod use the default DInoNameTags so if you want to increase the number of Alphas you would need their DinoNameTags: Elite Carno, Elite Raptor, and Elite Rex. Just place it in the above and adjust it as needed.
HerrWulf 7 Oct, 2015 @ 12:43pm
@Nyremis Yeah, it's been pretty awesome. We've all been enjoying this mod on the server, and it's something that everyone that joins mentioned

It is a shame about the Pachy and Giganto, but I realise that it's only fixable by doing a server wipe, which I'm sure we'll need to do eventually. When we do we'll put the full colour goodness back in place, because it really is awesome.

One more question. Is there any way to increase the numbers of alphas on Carno Island. It looks like the DinoSpawnWeightMultipliers command is the command I'm looking for, but it looks like these use names rather than the tags, so Anky instead of Ankylo_RCM_BP_C. Is there any way I can get this working with the alphas you've added at all?
Nyremis  [author] 7 Oct, 2015 @ 9:00am
@HerrWulf Awesome! Glad to hear you are liking the more consistent colouring.

Yes, if you replaced the colored versions that the mod spawns with vanilla ones using the .ini file that should definitely fix your issue and it helps you avoid a wipe if that is not a viable option, the only downside is that you will not have colored versions for the pachy or the ape. I hope this helps you out.
HerrWulf 7 Oct, 2015 @ 8:56am
Some feedback for you on the colours of things so far. I've always been happy with the dinos we've been getting, but there seems to be a more consistent colouring now, which is awesome.

I have a question for you. I've mentioned a few times about the Pachy issue. We've now noticed the same issue now happening with the apes, and I realise that this isn't something that you can fix on your end, but I've come up with a potential solution that might suit our needs.

I know it's possible to replace instances of one dino with another, which should be doable by tweaking the server config, replacing the colour mod versions of the two dinos with the vanilla ones shouldn't it? And this shouldn't, in theory, cause any issues with the existing tamed dinos should it? I'm mainly aiming to provide a solution that works for our server players as a server wipe isn't currently an option for us. Thanks in advance for any input/wisdom you can share.

^ Vanilla spawns for Quetzals just so everyone is aware, it seems only 4 are spawning ever. They have the spawn rates for the new dinosaur set extremely low. So, if you are having trouble finding them its because there are 4 out of 20k dinosaurs.
Nyremis  [author] 6 Oct, 2015 @ 3:07pm
Hello, everyone Exodus, the author of Baby Dinos Mod, finally got back to me and said "I'm sorry I don't feel comfortable giving them away." As I would need the Dinosaur Character bps of the babies to make colored versions of them and add them to my color mod.

So there you go guys, until he changes his mind, does it himself, or he lets another author color them I can't do anything. I at least figured I would give you guys an update on it regardless.
Nyremis  [author] 6 Oct, 2015 @ 7:41am
@HerrWulf At this point in time, I am keeping Alphas right where they are to ensure without a doubt that newly added dinosaurs will spawn without waiting for a devkit update.

Before some people said new dinosaurs spawned and others complained that they didn't no matter what they tried. So, its hard to tell which was the case. This way 100% guarantees that the newly added dinosaurs will spawn, because the only spawner I have made changes to is carnivore island and they have yet to add a new dinosaur for that spawner.
HerrWulf 6 Oct, 2015 @ 7:08am
Cool, that sounds like a good improvement. Will there ever be any hope of seeing Alphas outside of Carno Island again, or is that a limit that we have to deal with to ensure that newly added dinos are able to spawn in with the dev kit?

With regards to the weights, I've not really had much of a chance to check them out just yet. I updated the mod for our server, but haven't been able to play too much just yet. I have let our server's know that feedback on this is wanted though, so I should have some input on things in the near future for you.
Nyremis  [author] 6 Oct, 2015 @ 6:22am
@HerrWulf basically I made it so where Alphas are guaranteed to spawn now, but are limited to how much of them can spawn. So, right away you should notice some, but there will never be a ton of them or at least when I tested this on my server for about an 1 hour or so that was the case.

Before I had it to where they had a chance to spawn, which helped limit how many spawned, but in that case some people still had trouble coming across an Alpha due to RNG. By the way how are you liking the random weights that I added to the colors? Are you noticing any differences in the colors are you are coming across? Like more random colors and variety?
HerrWulf 6 Oct, 2015 @ 5:26am
Awesome to see all the new dinos getting colour modded. I'm a bit curious though, what changed with the Alphas? I know they've been limited to Carno Island (which makes many people on my server sad, but is understandable with Alpha-related headaches), but what've you changed with their spawns?
Nyremis  [author] 5 Oct, 2015 @ 2:02pm
Hello, everyone I just added random weights to all the colors on all the dinosaurs, this is a testing phase for using weights, so please provide feedback and tell me if you like the changes!
Nyremis  [author] 5 Oct, 2015 @ 8:49am
So, until they fix remapping of alphas, or just give alphas their own spawns in the spawners without using random npc spawn weights attached to the normal raptors, carnos, and rexs everything would be good. For now that is what I am doing so people can enjoy newly added dinosaurs without waiting on a devkit update so I can add them to the mod and people can still have alphas.
Nyremis  [author] 5 Oct, 2015 @ 8:48am
@JOP1996 the only way to color the baby dinosaurs from that mod would be for the baby dinos mod author to release the bps for those to a color mod author so they can add them to their color mod.

To your other question, you have to make custom spawns for alphas currently to spawn when you remap their normal variants, every color mod is doing this. If they state other wise they are misleading you. As they would not need custom spawns at all for a color mod if that wasnt the case. You can also check this for yourself by opening up the mods and seeing if they have spawners in the files.
SloppyJoppy 5 Oct, 2015 @ 7:55am
btw the alpha do only spawn on carnivore island? is there a way to change that?
SloppyJoppy 5 Oct, 2015 @ 7:52am
i have the baby dino mod on and the babies dont get colors like normal spawn, i guess its because the babies are from another mod, but if you know a way to make it so the babies get colored too and not only the normal wild spawns i would be greatfull :)
BlueFox < ' ! ' > 2 Oct, 2015 @ 7:14pm
Cannot really call this 'real color' when nobody knows what dinosaurs looked like lol. I would say this just simplifies the colors xD
Nyremis  [author] 2 Oct, 2015 @ 4:17am
I recommend taking them all off and add them one by one to find which mod is the problem. It could be as simple as you needing to put my mod before other mods that alter or change dinosaurs. I have no idea though because I do not know the mods or load order.
Nyremis  [author] 2 Oct, 2015 @ 4:15am
Well, its hard to say as you are saying nothing with this mod or any mod has changed since sep . 27th and now with an update to the main game you no longer have colored dinosaurs from this mod. Honestly it seems like there is a mod conflict or a change in load order.

Its hard to isolate the problem without knowing load order and mods you are using. I am using my color variety mod on my server and using this one in single player with no issues. I imagine there is a conflict with another mod or anothrr mod automatically updated since the 27th.
Kragg 2 Oct, 2015 @ 3:59am
Hi Nyremis,

I've been using this mod since first release, never any real issues. Since the major official Ark update '"v2.16" all coloured dinos tamed and untamed have vanished from my server, however I have not updated/altered this or any other mods on my server since Sep 27 when it was working perfectly last.

Any updated files from the workshop would have downloaded to my system automatically so do you reckon it is because my local and server versions of this mod are different? It's not a big problem since my server is stilli in testing for balancing with mods etc. but any feedback would be much appreciated so I can try avoiding this in the future.

Thanks
Sarenity 28 Sep, 2015 @ 4:53pm
Thank you @Nyremis! =)
Mэduza 28 Sep, 2015 @ 12:11pm
Today I tried it again and it works! :D Thanks!
Otez 28 Sep, 2015 @ 5:05am
Alright Updated the Mod and now the Server works fine :)
HerrWulf 27 Sep, 2015 @ 5:17pm
@Seto this happened with me until I updated the mod to the latest version. If you have other mods it could be that one of them needs updated as well.
Otez 27 Sep, 2015 @ 4:46pm
Today i got the Message "Lost Connection to Host" when i have this Mod active... what could be the problem?
Sarenity 27 Sep, 2015 @ 1:48pm
@Tzukini I keep getting the same lost connection but I haven't updated the mod on my server yet since I don't want all the raptors/carnos/rex to disappear that we've tamed.
Mэduza 27 Sep, 2015 @ 1:44pm
Not working on my Server :( I tried to place the ID at the first in the list. Everytime if I tried to log in with this mod I lost the connection. Other mods working.
Sarenity 27 Sep, 2015 @ 7:50am
@Nyremis, someone named Intoxicate got the color mod working with Alphas. Perhaps he can tell you how he did it and it may help the dilemma? =) Here is his profile: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/id/takethislife
Hakuro 27 Sep, 2015 @ 7:44am
I don't want to lose our army of raptors and carnos. So whatever option keeps our dinosaur "alive" will be the right one ^^
Sarenity 27 Sep, 2015 @ 7:07am
@Wessy it happens. =) Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Another dev seems to have figured out how to get it all working so there's hope! =)
Sarenity 27 Sep, 2015 @ 7:05am
@R4ziel, it never was hidden or out of the workshop. If you read you will see what happened. I found it right away so if someone didn't look then that is their fault and not the devs. =P Fyi, loading an older save will replace your dinos....all you had to do is ask somewhere and you would have found that out much sooner.
Wessy 27 Sep, 2015 @ 7:02am
@Sarenity Ups, sry i overlooked this part of description :steamfacepalm:
R4ziel 27 Sep, 2015 @ 6:53am
So this mod is back on the workshop now, thanks Nyremis, you kept it hidden just long enough for people to lose all their tamed dinos, well done dude.
Sarenity 27 Sep, 2015 @ 6:14am
@Wessy it sounds like you just need to read the notes in the mod description. =)
Wessy 27 Sep, 2015 @ 4:07am
Amazing Colors, but the Raptor is not working. Cheat Summon Raptor_RCM_BP_C is not possible to spwan.
Nyremis  [author] 26 Sep, 2015 @ 7:15pm
@HerrWulf They are already aware of the issue and looking into it.
HerrWulf 26 Sep, 2015 @ 7:05pm
@Nyremis then it sounds like option #2 would be the obvious choice, as the developers have mentioned adding in other alphas in the future. Having the unique spawns for dinos, which provides the colours for the standard dinos, and the alphas as well.

The delays in getting newer dinos could be an issue though, with things like the new biomes looming over us right now. Pretty much everyone I know is currently super hyped to get their hands on the dire wolves.

It's a real shame that making colours work is such a pain for the Alpha versions of dinos. With the game being Early Access is there any way for you to provide feedback to the game devs on this matter at all? I could see the standard/alpha connection being quite the pain for other modders, not just yourself.
