Real Colors Mod V0.07(Discontinued until Game Releases.)

Description
Hello, everyone due to the nature of how Ark Devkit updates are handled and the current lack of support for modders at this time, I am going to be leaving Ark and modding Ark until the game releases. The developers of this game are dedicated and trying their best to provide the best possible alpha/early access game they can. I understand this and this is why I realize modding Ark in its current state doesn't work for me and I hope when the game releases the modding system is fleshed out and has proper documentation among other things.

I hope there is no ill-will towards me, but I imagine people will still have some regardless of how I handle this. I just prefer a more functional system with more reliable and consistent updates, and you don't get that in any alpha/early access, so that is why I have made the decision to walk away until this game releases.

For everyone currently using my color mods I am going to link you guys to another color mod so you will not lose any tamed dinosaurs. I will leave both of my mods up and open to the public for 3 days to give people enough time to switch. I might continue to update this if enough people show their support for the color mods, but that is still very iffy for me.

And another idea: a paintball gun, that on hits colorozes randomly a paint area of a human (hair, skin, pants, etc.) or animal or item with the color inside the paintball gun.

Can you give us a mod, that adds plenty new dye colors to the game? Or even allows us players to create new additional dye colors using the INI file sections?

Anyone know how to get hold of the developer of this mod? We'd love to take a stab at changing the Spawn weights to Nil or very very rare to elevate some of the issues current users are having, as a bandage fix until the game is released.

If the developer would like to do this himself that would also be appreciated.

We swapped to Dynamic Color Mod as suggested, however this is also not being updated, I assume as they were compatible something could be done to tide users of both mods over until release.

Thanks you for all your hard work Nyremis, I totally understand you discontinuing and wish you well. I look forward to seeing your return to Ark in the future X-) Good luck!

One question if you ahve the time to answer, if I keep this mod without changing, will it continue to function as is, except for the obvious lack of colour on 'official' future additions to the game ?

Cheers! :steamhappy:

Best regards,
Malkiziv

@Nyremis, I'm sorry to hear that you're discontinuing the mod for now, though I can't fault you for it. It really seems like modders are being screwed pretty badly with lack of support from the devs. Especially when you see they have a modding contest going on right now… you'd think that keeping you guys engaged would be important.

Thank you for giving people a heads up on taking the mod down, so that we can move things over to a new mod without issues. I have a question that's kind of related, and likely doesn't have a good answer. Is there any way to convert color mod over to vanilla dinos? I know it's possible to change the spawns over but is there any way to convert existing, tamed, dinos over that you can think of?

The lack of modder support doesn't seem likely to change at any point soon. I've been digging about in our server's save file locally and it seems like it SHOULD be possible, but haven't had much luck as of yet.

Ah, that's cool. I knew things like breeding wouldn't be in until the dev kit had been updated, which is completely out of your control and pretty much random as to when they get released it seems.

So I fully understand it's beyond your control right now. I was just double checking to make sure it wasn't another issue of our server being... weird.

Thanks for clarifying things, saving my sanity, and for your efforts with this mod.

@Herrwulf Sadly the breeding, rafts, and platform saddles are apparently messed up with v219 of the game. You can check the unrealengine forums to see that pretty much every dino mod is having this issue. :/

As soon as the devkit is updated I will resolve this as fast as humanly possible. Its been roughly 14-16 days since the last devkit update so its literally out of my hands.

I'd also like to apologise for how negative my comments on here must seem to people looking at this mod. Just for people considering using the mod:

1. It creates some beautiful dinosaurs.
2. Our server has had a few saving issues that have had side effects with a few things. It's resulted in some oddities. This is not the norm.

If you want colourful dinos, this mod is amazing. It's one of the first things new players mention, and every single player on the server have amazing looking dinos because of it. It's well worth using.

I've run into a few issues that seem to be affecting only our colour-mod dinos. This issue seems to relate only to build-on saddles. Everything's working fine until we try and dismount from the built on saddle the player gets stuck in a falling animation on top of the saddle, and is unable to move. Someone has to swoop in on a bird and grab them. This has happened so far on both Paracers and Brontos.

I'm not sure if it's something anyone else has experienced, or if it's just another in a lengthy list of quirks that our server is managing to cook up. It only happened, I think, since v219 was released, so it might be that there have been some changes that have yet to make it through to the dev kit just yet, but I thought I'd ask about it here, in case anyone has any ideas/similar experiences/ideas on how to resolve the issue.

As a modder, I know this, I was just bringing it to the attention of the class, helping out a fellow modder :P
