@denstat, I remember using this mod a few years ago (haven't played Skyrim for about year). Never had that issue. I, too, wonder what happened to your game.
denstat 22 Dec, 2024 @ 8:40pm
Wanted to love this, but if didn't function properly in my Oldrim game. I invested money in planting a new orchard, saw it in the new location, went off for a few days adventuring, and came home to the new orchard gone, and that I no longer had ownership. This was after I sank a ton of septims into purchasing food & supplies. Nice idea and design, however. Unsubbing.

@Dr.Nade : If I recall correctly, you cook double items each time. Anyway maybe it's written also somewhere on the journal or the upgrades, I can't remember ...
But yeah, it's not just "decorative", it improves something. Or it should :|
Dr.Nade 22 Jan, 2022 @ 8:35am
Is there any reason to make second Oven?
Katixa  [author] 18 May, 2021 @ 1:16pm
@jr_niklasch : thank you for you words and I'm glad you enjoy it :D
Katixa  [author] 18 May, 2021 @ 11:00am
@jr_niklasch : The letter as far as I remember is just informative. I mean, you don't have to read it to activate anything.

I put it there when I updated the mod allowing some upgrades, etc...

For owning the restaurant you just have to read the book inside, where the previous owner explains the building, etc....

Hope it clear things up.
Katixa  [author] 18 May, 2021 @ 12:20am
@jr_niklasch: I don't know... a mod conflict doesn't seem probable unless it modifies things like dagger or paper....

Anyway I noticed that some times the paper falls, so are you sure it didn't go somewhere around the grass?

I didn't update the mod anyway...
Katixa  [author] 21 Jan, 2021 @ 9:42am
@Schamy
Hi, and thanks for your concern. Unfortunately I'm still unemployed... still "hired" by the company (as it cannot fire me due to the special situation), but with just the basic income from the government..

Anyway even if my economic situation is bad, I haven't stopped working for around 22 years until now, so it's some kind of "retirement Demo". Nine months doing absolutely nothing... it certainly helped getting my job stress levels low.

About your numbers on the mod, they are correct. Maybe the notebook is not clear enough indeed.

Regards!
Schamy 15 Jan, 2021 @ 2:40am
@Katixa Hey there, first of all, I realy love your mod, since i used it once, i just don't like to play without it.

I also checket the thing about Beef, and I think where the confusion came from, because I checked the math, in the Notebook it says with beef, "same as above but sell for 20" so then you would think (without checking with the oven) that you get 5 Beef steaks for the house from 1 beef.

But actually like you writhe you get 20 so the math works somthing like this:

Beef Buy for 150 each, make 20 processed food, sell for 20 each, so for every Beef you buy you make a profit of 250. (20*20-150)

So it works out but just in the notebook its writen wrong, or i just don't understand it right >.<.

I also hope the best for you, and that your personal situation will get better in the forseeable future if it didn't acually happen already
Katixa  [author] 10 Jun, 2020 @ 12:05pm
@Brimstone: I didn't update anything.

I just checked the mod on the CK, and here's what I saw:

Venison piece (buy): 30
Venison steak (sell): 15

Beef piece (buy): 150
Beef steak (sell): 20

I wasn't able to find the code to see how many steaks are created, but you can see that ingame when cooking, after they add to your inventory.

Basically, for the venison for instance, after two steaks, the rest is all profit. In the case of beef, you need to sell around 8 steaks before you can start to make profit.

These sell prices get calculated when opening the safe box (also important to be patient here, because the script can take a long time sometimes).

And just to show another example of the logic applied:

Salmon piece (buy): 20
Salmon steak (sell): 8

So after 2-3 steaks, the rest is profit.

It should be the same with the rest of ingredients. I always tried to apply realistic values so you don't get too rich too fast but also trying to avoid a too-slow income.
Brimstone 8 Jun, 2020 @ 8:59pm
@Katixa: Not sure if this was you updating, or just me missing it to begin with (which is a distinct possibility) but it seem that raw beef results in 20 beef steak being created. Let me redo the math here: The cost of beef, from self-farming, given the 1000 gold cost of a bale and the result of 15 raw beef from that... that means 300 beef steaks at a cost of 3.33 gold per steak. Sold at 20 gold per, that's a great profit. Ordering the beef results in the cost being 7.5 per steak, and again, sold at twenty, is a great profit. I only have 2 questions left: 1 - was this an update thing, or did I just suck at math to begin with? And 2 - have you given anymore thought to making your own game? Maybe you should.
Brimstone 3 Jun, 2020 @ 10:23pm
Sorry about your current situation. If it makes you feel any better, I'm in the same boat. Plus I get to watch my city tear itself apart from the inside out. (U.S.A.! U.S.a www, crap...) Dark humor aside, I think you should make your own game. You definitely have the talent for it. My own experience in game design doesn't go beyond making crappy flash games for my friends in the early 2000's, but if I can help in any way, let me know. Even if you just want someone to bounce ideas off of, add me as a friend and we'll talk.
Katixa  [author] 3 Jun, 2020 @ 12:26pm
@Brimstone: (had to split the comment in two parts due to Steam limits...)

And about the stand-alone game, I'm glad you mention it, as it somehow encourages me to return to an old idea of mine.... Recently due to this pandemia I practically lost my job (almost 3 months unemployed and counting), and I'm not quite sure the company that halted our jobs will be back, so I had in mind to create some kind of simple "game" but at same time complex in content, with hopes it would attract people enough to pay for some features or pluses, etc... not the typical pay to play, but something like that. Anyway, something that hopefully could be my income for living.
Katixa  [author] 3 Jun, 2020 @ 12:25pm
@Brimstone: Sure, I'm totally into normal and constructive replies.

About your ideas... Personally I wouldn't go through all the work of reinstalling the game, I doubt it will make a difference... a script is a script, so it will still do the same, and you will probably end up having problems with other mods or game save... as they say, if something works, don't fix it :)

As said, I'll check the numbers when I have a chance, but for now I would just keep playing normal.

About the ventilator, it's just decoration. When I released this mod the ventilation was always on by default, but I found it quite disturbing, and probably I also got some comments about it (can't remember really, posted this both on Nexus and Steam), so I just placed a button, so those who like to hear the machines working can, and those who don't like it... don't.
Brimstone 2 Jun, 2020 @ 11:18pm
@Katixa: Thank you for your courteous replies. Sometimes having a frank discussion really makes my day. Hope you feel the same. Side note, have you considered taking your mod ideas and developing them into a stand-alone game? I'd buy it.

I tried disabling other mods, thinking there might be a conflict, but that didn't work. Worth a try. I'm nowhere near the point of wanting to completely un/reinstall the game and mods, but if it will help, I'd give it a try. Just a thought, trying to be helpful.

In case I wasn't clear (I struggle with words sometimes) when I said the cost, I was talking about the actual number of gold subtracted from my inventory. And the guide I referenced was the one you pick up on the counter in game.

While I'm here, what does the ventilator button do? Haven't figured that out yet.

Still a fantastic mod. I've enjoyed every second of it.
Katixa  [author] 2 Jun, 2020 @ 4:37pm
@Brimstone: Your post surprises me. I still cannot confirm if the numbers are correct or not untill I check the coding, but it of course surprises me that if it's true, noone else noticed it in all the years this mod has been working, even including myself, because I developed as a money sink, and also as a help for getting money. When I get a chance I will check the code and reply back with actual numbers.
Brimstone 2 Jun, 2020 @ 1:03pm
@Katixa: Ran the numbers again. Beef costs 150 gold per raw beef. That's regardless of the quantity you buy. Now, you get five beef steaks per raw beef, so the cost per steak is 30 gold. According to the in-game guide, each one is sold at 20 gold per, a loss of 10.

As far as farming them goes, ignoring initial cost, each cow raised to slaughter costs 1000 gold, the cost of the bale of hay needed to raise it. Slaughtering gives you 15 beef, each producing 5 steaks. That brings the cost down to 13.33 gold, making it profitable, but limits the amount of beef you can have on hand immediately. Venison, on the other hand, cost 30 per, also produces five steaks, and that makes the cost 6 gold per. Being sold at, according to the in game guide, 15 per, that's a profit of 9 gold per. Beef, at best, is a profit of 6.67.

About the salad thing... Yeah, kind of figured that one out. Should've been obvious from the start. Sorry about that.

Katixa  [author] 31 May, 2020 @ 3:21pm
@Brimstone: It's been long so I don't remember the actual numbers... are you sure about the math? From one beef or one venison you get several steaks, not just one. I'm doing a fast guess here but when I designed this I though on something like: buy one beef for 25 gold, get 5 steaks, and sell each steak at 7 gold, or something like that. Anyway later on you also can upgrade to have some catle, feed them and get "free" beef.

About the salad thing, try to be gentle. Don't cliclicliclicliclicliclic. There's a script processing stuff behind. When I played I used to use the table once per second more or less and never had any problems. I'm not quite sure how many salads were made per click, but I used to count the times I pressed the E key to use the table, and always got without ingredients correctly.
Brimstone 30 May, 2020 @ 12:03am
@Stoner: does it address the beef problem?
Also, I continued with the math... Venison is the way to go. Even without the add on sales of cider, bread, and salad, you make 9 gold per sale. Economically, it's the the best thing to serve. I haven't figured in the waitress, or the initial cost of buying the land/equipment. This is just supply vs sale here. I just realized how much of my life was spent in retail. Damn, that's sad. Also, if you use the chopping block too much, lettuce gets used more than tomato. You still get the amount of salad you should, but you end up with excess lettuce. Is this a glitch or a micro-calculation in the game?
Noticing that might actually be sadder...

Brimstone, you may also wish to look at his Beer Brewery mod.
Brimstone 29 May, 2020 @ 3:53pm
I know it's been years, but I only recently found out about this mod and wanted to say that I love almost all of it. My only problem is with the beef steak. I did the math, and if you only get raw beef from one of the suppliers, at 150 gold per raw beef you lose 10 gold per sale. Even factoring profit from the cider, bread, and salad included with the sale, you still lose a little over 2 gold. Other than that, I'm having a lot of fun with this.
Dr.Nade 20 Dec, 2017 @ 9:24pm
Thanks for the answer to my comment i hope you will find the free time to make new conntent for the mod as long as it will not collide with your family life it will be great in my opinion family is more important than for example making mods.
Katixa  [author] 20 Dec, 2017 @ 2:21pm
@Dr.Nade: Cheese was one of the ideas I got years ago when working on this mod, basically because it's something typical in the area I live, filled with ciderhouses and local cheese producers. I'm back at Skyrim so I don't discard doing it some time. Not a promise, just something I would like to do, but I don't know if I will be able to (depending my free time, etc...)
Dr.Nade 20 Dec, 2017 @ 12:01pm
It would be great to get new conntent like making cheese and using it in the restaurant.
Montu 4 Nov, 2017 @ 5:40pm
This mod is great, I'm sure many people ask this, but could you convert this to Special Edition by any chance?
fairyfran 30 Oct, 2017 @ 6:12am
Ok thank you!
RamblinRick 29 Oct, 2017 @ 8:35pm
Waitress is hired at the inn in Whiterun. Not the Drunken Huntsman, but the other one. There's a book behind the counter.
fairyfran 29 Oct, 2017 @ 11:15am
I can not seem to hire any waitress or staff how do i do this?
kamarie476 8 Aug, 2017 @ 3:02pm

Katixa  [author] 4 Aug, 2016 @ 2:23pm
@foxytristin: OK, glad you got it. And sorry about that reply, couldn't remember until I saw it again. I was completely drunk (4.43am my local time as I see), and well... your writting was... funny.
So anyway, glad it helped, somehow :D
Rex_ink 3 Aug, 2016 @ 3:32pm
thank you Katixa a.k.a author it was a guild mod it is a big big guild out side of whiterun. but when i disabled it. i couldn't find. but then i saw it was a next to a farm... derp
Katixa  [author] 29 Jul, 2016 @ 7:43pm
@foxytristin: meesa think is should be outside Whiterun.... meesa think that if you think one of your mods its making it not there, maybe should think of trying to disable that mod and see what happens.... meesa think that if you use a mod with a big big big thing outside Whiterun, maybe the mod isn't for you, if it does conflict with that big big thing.....
Rex_ink 29 Jul, 2016 @ 6:49pm
um... can you plz tell me where it is???????? i can't find it!!!!!!! i think one of my mods is makeing it not there. becus there's this big big BIG thingy outside whiterun and it's a guild. also i don't see the path to it.
RamblinRick 24 Jul, 2016 @ 3:44pm
OK. That worked. Thanks. Food was even consumed. Yay!!!
Katixa  [author] 23 Jul, 2016 @ 11:40am
@Stoner: I'm not aware of any mod conflict that could cause this, only thing I can say is that if you spend lots of days without checking the register, it takes a while for the script to run, as the calculations are made at that moment, for each day and food on the inventory. If you have a previous save, at least to test, try opening the cash register and waiting some time without closing it to see if it money appears.
RamblinRick 22 Jul, 2016 @ 5:39pm
Restaurant is no longer working for me. Over the past 14 days or so, no food nor cider was consumed. A waitress was on duty the entire time. No money earned in the cash register.

I tried to post my load order, but it is over 1000 chars, so I can't do it. Here is a link to the load order: Load Order [dl.dropboxusercontent.com]
RamblinRick 18 Jul, 2016 @ 7:10pm
@Girth Quake: just enter the front door. On the table is a Journal. Read it. You now own the joint. At the back counter, left side, is a more complete book. Read it as well.
XpiredMilk 16 Jul, 2016 @ 9:53am
how do you buy and own the place?
Katixa  [author] 14 Jul, 2016 @ 6:37am
@Stoner: I'm not sure right now, but maybe I added a second location for the book. With Whiterun something similar happened to some users, and I added a second book on the Hunters shop interior if I recall correctly. In Solitude, only place that comes to mind is the harbor, outside the city. It's the place I used on the Beer Brewery mod for buying barley. Try there just in case.
RamblinRick 12 Jul, 2016 @ 7:25pm
I moved the Ciderhouse mod after Open Cities (I use Nexus, not Steam). Still not order book at the Solitude fish seller stall.
RamblinRick 11 Jul, 2016 @ 2:18pm
I do use Open Cities. I've found the other Order Books. Perhaps if I re-arrange my load order, such that the Cider House comes after Open Cities. Thanks for the reply.
Katixa  [author] 11 Jul, 2016 @ 12:16pm
@Stoner: That's where. Unless you use some mod like open cities that overwrittes whole Solitude, there should be a book on a stand to buy from.
RamblinRick 11 Jul, 2016 @ 6:16am
where in Solitude do I buy Salmon? The Journal mentions the Solitude Marketplace. I've searched all over it, especially the fish seller stall
