Link added. This, of course, sent the workshop page back into moderation, which hopefully won't take too long.

Here's the link to the navmesh file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IW6X4VIn2JKz6pYJHNktvjdj0syiTUsJ/view?usp=sharing
(I don't know if it will go through the Moderation filter)
I have uploaded it.

Reply to the message below I made:
It works. Uploading it now.
romanplayer22 7 Dec, 2023 @ 8:38am
I don't know if it works without a special improved bot mod
I will have to test it without it
Dogman15  [author] 6 Dec, 2023 @ 4:08pm
If you tell me where you've uploaded it, I can add the link to the .nav file to this description page here.
romanplayer22 6 Dec, 2023 @ 11:05am
Hello there

I have made a fully working Navigation Mesh for this map.

(I generated it by marking the sections with nav_mark_walkable and and then nav_generate_incremental).

So, if you want a working navmesh for this map, you can ask me if you want me to upload it).

I never said anything suggesting you shouldn't do what you want to do. I was just wondering what you planned on doing. You jumped to a conclusion. What you do is your business. Also, it's the Steam Workshop, not the Steam Community Market.

By all means, share what you've made.
Modest Pile of Hats 15 May, 2023 @ 8:48am
Yes I intend to upload my version to the tf2 community market at some point but if you think this map shouldn't be there then even if it does (or rather it will be on the tf2 community market) then just ignore it. Also in your first post you wrote that it would be nice if this map was renewed and now you advise against it so what is the point of this post?
Dogman15  [author] 14 May, 2023 @ 3:16pm
Are you going to upload your own version of Cactus Canyon to the workshop? I think perhaps this one should remain untouched as an archive of the last thing Valve released for it.
Modest Pile of Hats 14 May, 2023 @ 11:26am
hey again!
just wanted to let you know the state of the map.
-So I added one new transition
- a new building that is operational
and now it will go to the aesthetics and overall appearance of the map.
So the map is almost completed i just need to decorate it nicely, add some 3d skybox and optimize it well.
So we still have to wait for the final version. But i think this map will be finished sometime at the end of summer or in the middle of it.
I also plan to ask some other mapper for some support as I'm not that great at mapping yet but it's just my idea and I might give it up
Dogman15  [author] 27 Jan, 2023 @ 2:36am
Gotcha. Well, I wish you good luck in whatever you endeavor to do.
Modest Pile of Hats 27 Jan, 2023 @ 2:13am
No It was just an information.
Dogman15  [author] 26 Jan, 2023 @ 12:27pm
Was that a question? I'm not sure if you were expecting a response or not.
Modest Pile of Hats 26 Jan, 2023 @ 2:59am
Okay so I'd just like to give a little voice to life
to let you know a few things about the map.
In general, due to a huge leak, many maps inspired me or caught my eye and this map was plr_pinecrest so giving a bit of life I would like to say that I will strongly refer to this map.
Dogman15  [author] 7 Nov, 2022 @ 4:20pm
Well, luckily, sharing a map on the Steam workshop means it's easy to push updates out - Steam automatically handles distribution of the file to everyone subscribed to it.
Modest Pile of Hats 7 Nov, 2022 @ 1:18pm
This is my goal but I think that the renovation will be at the workshop in at least a year or two. Because working on the hammer editor is pure hell, plus I have a dilemma with the appearance of the map or follow the stylistics of the pl_hoodoo map or the pl_goldrush map.
Dogman15  [author] 5 Nov, 2022 @ 2:16am
This upload is intended to be a preservation of what Valve made, but if you'd like to make your own version of Cactus Canyon, you're more than welcome to do so and upload it to the workshop to share with others.
Modest Pile of Hats 5 Nov, 2022 @ 1:35am
In fact, I have had quite a lot of contact in hammer editor for a few years, but if someone does not know what is hammer editor, it is a program for making maps from tf2. So I could do something like a remake of this level but as a separate map.
Dogman15  [author] 23 Apr, 2022 @ 1:12am
Back when whoever at Valve made this map was actively working on it, they added a cactus for each revision. I wonder what their plan was for the final product.
Draglorr 22 Apr, 2022 @ 2:11pm
There are so few cacti, its just kind of sad. This is supposed to be CACTUS canyon! Otherwise, the map is decent, if slightly bland. 5/10

Verdict: MORE CACTUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dogman15  [author] 23 Jul, 2021 @ 2:30pm
Well, regardless, at least people can play all three stages of this map if they subscribe to or download this mirror.
xX420DuselQuickskopezxxxswagXx42 23 Jul, 2021 @ 6:20am
Oh, and in the patch, you can see only the line about permanent removal of stage 2. My previous comment made it look like there was a line that says that the original creator never wanted to collect data on stage 3.
xX420DuselQuickskopezxxxswagXx42 23 Jul, 2021 @ 5:43am
Hello. Just want to say that previous stage 2 was permanently removed, and the original creator (or just someone at Valve) never intended to collect more data on the stage with the train. This was actually said in the patch note as of September 10 2021 ( https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/September_10,_2014_Patch ).
English is not my main language, and I wasn't born in an English speaking country, so I might have understood the word "permanent" wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it meant that stage 2 will never appear on the map. Please, correct me on this one if I'm wrong.
I made this comment so that people don't get false information, as I saw several people that, from what I can tell, read the description on this page, and said that Valve just wanted to collect info on stage 3.
Again, please correct me if I'm saying something wrong.

"Community fixes" to maps usually only happen to maps that were made by community members in the first place. The way it works (for example: ICS made a number of Halloween payload maps, and Blade x64 made Pier) is the map maker makes changes to the map on their end, and then submits their changes to Valve, and then Valve implements those changes in the next patch. Valve almost never updates maps made by community members unless the original map maker makes the change themself, from what I've seen.

My speculation is that for Valve maps, the same thing applies - only the original individual or individuals who made the map in the first place will update it. I can't know for certain, though.
ShadowMan44 31 Jan, 2021 @ 4:06pm
To be fair, Valve sometimes approves of "community fixes" usually involving certain texture bugs or sound effects better suited for certain stuff. I feel that if whoever made the original map would be a-ok with this "fixed" version being added to the game.
Dogman15  [author] 31 Jan, 2021 @ 1:40am
I agree, but Valve does (or doesn't do) whatever Valve likes. My guess is that the individual person at Valve who made this map just stopped working on it, and no one else at Valve wanted to mess with their work. That's what happened with the Powerhouse map - it was started back in 2007 around the game's launch, but didn't get finished and released until 2015.
ShadowMan44 30 Jan, 2021 @ 7:07pm
Valve needs to add this in, it looks like a solid B-tier map
Dogman15  [author] 9 Dec, 2020 @ 12:21pm
I miss it, too. In theory, you could organize a game on it by renting a community server for a specific time and day, telling as many people as you can about that time and day, and then when that time comes, use rcon (remote control) commands to have the server switch to this map with the command "map workshop/485960308". If enough people show up, you could have an hour or two of quality gameplay on the 3-stage version of Cactus Canyon!
Lord Backus of Shotland 9 Dec, 2020 @ 5:48am
Does anyone still play this? This map was my favorite and I have missed it so much since last time I had a "real" match on it
M3M3LuRd 27 Nov, 2020 @ 11:46am
Cool, thanks :steamhappy:
Dogman15  [author] 26 Nov, 2020 @ 11:22pm
Presumably, as one of the contributors to this workshop submission, he received a notification when you wrote a comment, so just wait a bit. If a week passes and nothing happens, I'll message him.
M3M3LuRd 26 Nov, 2020 @ 10:42pm
How should I contact him though, through steam
Dogman15  [author] 26 Nov, 2020 @ 9:12pm
I'm more active online, but Neox would be the guy to request that of. I know nothing about Hammer. I'm just someone who thought to upload the original BSP to the workshop.
M3M3LuRd 26 Nov, 2020 @ 4:59pm
sorry if its a bit much
M3M3LuRd 26 Nov, 2020 @ 4:59pm
do you think you could add a 3d skybox and a little more geometry on the cliffs to flesh it out a little, maybe some minor building updates as well?
Dogman15  [author] 20 Dec, 2018 @ 3:26pm
If there was a Discord server, I would be more likely to notice notifications from there.
MS-14A Gelgoog 17 Nov, 2018 @ 8:10pm
sorry. I know a lot of guys keep the group muted but we're trying. You're in the steam group right? pop by the chat and let people know you wanna play and we can start putting out announcements and whatnot
Dogman15  [author] 17 Nov, 2018 @ 4:40pm
That was 12pm Pacific where I am. I was at work then.
MS-14A Gelgoog 17 Nov, 2018 @ 6:27am
We should be playing today or trying to starting at 3pm EST
Dogman15  [author] 16 Nov, 2018 @ 3:20pm
As long as more people get to play the middle stage, and by extension all three stages, that's a win in my book. I'd love to join you sometime if I'm free.
MS-14A Gelgoog 15 Nov, 2018 @ 7:13pm
Got it running on TF2 vintage. I dunno if the one we had initially was this or the later build with stage 2 removed.
Dogman15  [author] 18 Nov, 2017 @ 12:48am
Valve removed the middle (#2) stage at one point (check the wiki article). Now the old Stage 3 is Stage 2 in the official game. Pikatf2 saved the 3-stage version of the map on his site, and I downloaded it two years ago and shared it here.
New Nintendo 64 XL 17 Nov, 2017 @ 3:23pm
wait this map had a third stage? i though it was deleted and nobody had a copy
Dogman15  [author] 27 May, 2017 @ 5:25pm
I didn't think so.
404_coffee.exe 27 May, 2017 @ 8:57am
no XD
Dogman15  [author] 26 May, 2017 @ 9:21pm
Are you sure you know exactly what you're asking?
404_coffee.exe 26 May, 2017 @ 2:38pm
can you make a remake of Cactus Canyon
Dogman15  [author] 20 May, 2017 @ 10:14pm
If you figure out port forwarding, you can host this map with your computer as the server, and other players can connect to your computer to play with you. But your computer isn't a dedicated server, so you may run into some unideal conditions.
