I mean.. They are called "Sentinel" in-game and everywhere where you have valid reference of them. Just because someting is based off something does not mean it IS something. Example: In a game called Supreme Commander we have the UEF or "United Earth Federation". They are not called "Human Race" just because they are the human race. And well, i am pretty sure Necrons are a lot more OP and look very different from these, except for the general shape.

I like it, but it has some peculiar behavior on some modules, such as the farmer sparrow launcher shooting missiles at.... other missiles.
Also it suffers from the all too common in mods "unwieldy long names" flaw.
This is still one of my faves.
