@Exxia less weight that the thrusters have to move. Reducing stress on the reactors saving fuel. That and the lighter the craft the more manuverable it tends to be. You can add twenty gyros to a heavy armored and it would take all day to turn.

Oy to those that care, The Hiigaran Battlecruiser is finally finished and ready for action...but a problem has occurred. As you know, a certain hot topic has begun to spiral out of control and has gotten me worried, so for now: I will get a instructional video for proper operation done, but I will wait and see how this hot topic drags on before posting said Battlecruiser on the workshop. I'm certain other ship builders that use mods are doing this as well, but that's beyond me ATM. Apologies for this mess, but I will send out a battle call to test (IE fight my ship for science) once I'm certain the situation simmers down enough.

To anyone following: The Hiigaran Battlecruiser has reached its final stage (heavy armor skin implementation). With any luck, after I find a way to record a vid of it and obtain help to get it stress tested, She should be launched from the Nabaal and into workshop as a world file by Saturday this week at best.

As of right now, the Hiigaran Battlecruiser is eating up my time and energy (and if you see the link below a bit, you can see how big she is). I do plan on restructuring the destroyer with a heavy armor skin, an internalized command pit and better weapon system based off Complex. As for the vaygr, I originally built a destroyer but the akward design of the "arms" drove me nuts and had to scrap it for now.

Nice i really like your scale from what i can see, i made one to the best of my ability (it isnt gonna win any awards) and after i was done it felt way too big. dont a fan of only light armor but makes it pratical kinda.

Any plans for making other homeworld ships? like maybe trying a Vaygir one (excuse spelling)

Like the destroyer, she'll have vacant rooms (and massive ones at that), just need to add the essentials like a conveyor system, oxygen system, weapons, etc...I serioiusly want to see someone build a Spaceball arena inside the largest room when she launches on workshop...eventually....

All in due time, I guess...I could combine it (one set being AI another being RC. and yeah, the script is rather clunky at times, but useful none the less. Will carry any ideas from the battlecruiser to the retrofit of this here destroyer after said BT gets finished.

just make it the same size, i mean the rc turrets arent bad. just the script use is a pain. all turrets rotate to one spot. thats good for 1 v 1 but if its many ships. then..well that setup gets its ass kicked real quick

Thankfully the Hiigaran battlecruiser I'm working out won't have RC turrets, mostly because the damn thing dwarfs my destroyer...

I've been thinking about recreating this ship since the early days of Starmade since it's my favorite Homeworld 2 design, but I probably wouldn't have been able to do it as good as you did! Nice work :)

@Sergal: been looking for that vid for a while, should make things easier a bit size wise so thanks on that department. Also, after the vaygr destroyer gets finished, I plan to retune the Hiigaran counterpart with some upgrades lsuch as heavy armor skin, a refined conveyor system, new antimatter missiles, etc though it may be a while (humerously enough, this workshop one is only my second ship built since i bought this game, heh). Afterwards, I plan to release the world they're in so they both, along with a resource collector and controller, will be available at the same time without the blueprint issues I heard some people get. Still would like help with interior design though, cause man I'm terrible there.


Keep the critiques and suggestions flowing, I feed off of the info and use it for future builds.

@Author : I've been working on a 1-1 Scale Ion Cannon Frigate and a mock Vagyr Infiltrator frigate and have had no issues replicating shape even BEFORE armor ramps came along.

Lags like an unholy bitch, but it's proof it can be done.

CobaltStorm: yeah, transitioning the ships from homeworld 2 to Space Engineers isn't easy, especially since one has to work with limited shapes. Hell the Vaygr destroyer I'm working on now is driving me nuts due to it's asymetrical design (the two booms on its side specifically).

Design wise. I remember the rear of the Hig Destroyer not being quite as flat in HW2 (height). Its your design though so it isnt that much of an issue. Just looks slightly off.

you can upload the world you have this ship in from the saved games menu, like we did before they added blueprints. you just have to select the saved world file in the menue, then hit the "publish" option, if i recall correctly.

.....oh, rundown check time then:
>when in the command pit, bring up the control panel (K by default), look for the remote control (that name specifically) and gain control of it.
>when in control, you lose all control of the actual ship itself as the remote only controls the turrets (hence the 2 minimum crew requirements)
>bring up the control panel again and look for the programmable block and check the script, then hit run
>to actually shoot the turrets, que the cannons (which should already be grouped like cannons-1 etc) and key it to the hotbar at the bottom and have it set to shoot once. when done hit the corresponding number said cannon group is on and it will fire. I would make a vid, but I lack any braincells in that dept.

Melons: the only command bridge the ship has, use one of the two command units to either the left or right which is pictured above (to get there, use the elevators that will take you to the third level)

after looking at the mod it's official, will work on the vaygr destroyer after my "break" and give the Hiigaran destroyer a heavy armor reskin on the external areas (just need to get the no heavy armor camo).

Could do that with the Vaygr destroyer, especially since it uses a missile system rather than 4 heavy kinetic turrets. Also will look into the mod.

If possible could you release a heavy armor variant for this design and the future designs. And id also like to request a mod be added as i find the effect better and that is replacing the missile launchers with the antimatter warhead mod. Its slower and packs a bigger punch and feels more like homeworld.
