Does not seem to work anymore.
Stevoni  [author] 4 Aug, 2020 @ 3:51pm
No problemo, sorry it took so long.
Furighteous 4 Aug, 2020 @ 2:13am
@Stevoni It works! Thanks a bunch! :D
Stevoni  [author] 3 Aug, 2020 @ 5:42pm
@Furighteous I think the latest update does what you're wanting to.
Furighteous 24 Jul, 2020 @ 4:44pm
@Stevoni Great Works were added as a free feature in patch 3.1 .
The screen pops up when you click on the Great Work icon (it's on the upper part of the province screen when one is built) and makes a "wooooom" sound. You can check existing Great Works, like Stonehedge (on Wiltshire) or Hagia Sofia (on Constantinople).
Not a major issue, just wondering if you could do it. ;)
Stevoni  [author] 24 Jul, 2020 @ 3:09pm
@Furighteous What DLC is needed for the Great Work screen?
Furighteous 24 Jul, 2020 @ 11:03am
Works as intended.

Could you update this so that it also mutes the Great Work screen?
Stevoni  [author] 28 Feb, 2020 @ 3:26pm
Sorry for the delay, been a crazy week @starfarts. I'm not sure if audio is included in the checksum. You can open the sounds.fx file in this mod and find the money_in.wave file and change the volume to be 0.
starfarts 23 Feb, 2020 @ 4:10pm
Well the file is /Crusader Kings II/Sound/money_in.wav, do you figure if I replace the file with an empty one it will mess with the checksum?
Stevoni  [author] 23 Feb, 2020 @ 3:01pm
@Starfarts, I don't think I've played as a republic after making this mod. If the monthly coin sound file is the same as the non-republic annual coin sound, then, I believe, it will be the standard volume.
starfarts 23 Feb, 2020 @ 12:54pm
Does this mute the monthly coin noise from republics?

@Stevoni
Thank you kindly!

Iaredios, Jorlem, Mexaddon, Tap.Water, and G.Strategos: I've created a second mod that removes the interface sounds and leaves the ambient sounds: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1895785316

I tried updating this mod as a contributor. However, it turns out that contributors of a steam workshop mod don't actually have enough permissions to update a mod. It looks like only the original author can update the mod.

@Astraeos

The sound files for roosters are land_event_04.wav and land_event_06.wav.
Mod files are located at \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\
1: unzip the mod file, "remove_ambient_noise.zip"
2: edit "\interface\sound.sfx"
3: find "land_event_04"
4: change "volume = 15" to "volume = 0"
5: find "land_event_6" and change the volume like in step #4
6: save file, re-zip the files as an zip archive, then overwrite the original zip archive

Could you possibly tell me how to get rid of the rooster crowing sound effect myself? I absolutely hate it, it plays endlessly and its hideously louder than all other effects. Please, help me.

Thanks. Correction for the last comment: I noticed there's already an existing line for "monastic_orders_indian_interface". You can just edit volume = 100 to be volume = 0
Stevoni  [author] 26 Feb, 2019 @ 1:20pm
Thanks for the info El Psy Kongroo. If I update this mod again, I'll fix this.
El Psy Kongroo  [author] 25 Feb, 2019 @ 11:44pm
When playing as a Hindu Ruler I still hear ambient noise in the societies tab.

Thankfully I found out how to mute it. If you want to get rid it, unzip the mod and edit your sound.sfx file using notepad.

Add this to the bottom:

monastic_orders_indian_interface =
{
file = "monastic_orders_indian_interface_01.wav"
volume = 0
on_demand = yes
}

@Stevoni
Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers.

G.Strategos, I haven't played CK2 nor put any more thought toward making another mod. If I do, I'll let ya know.
G.Strategos 14 Sep, 2018 @ 1:33pm
@Stevoni
Any updates for the different versions you mentioned ?
Cheers.
Stevoni  [author] 21 May, 2018 @ 4:45pm
Tap.Water and Mexaddon, if I revisit CK2 again, I may make a separate mod and will let you know. At this time, I don't know when that will be.
Tap.Water 20 May, 2018 @ 5:25pm
A couple months late to the party, but by god do I agree with Mexaddon, I cannot stand those Character Tabs noises, but do enjoy much of the other ambient sounds.
Mexaddon 19 Nov, 2017 @ 5:19pm
I actually like most ambient noises. Ocean, forest, wind are all pretty nice for immersion. The only one I absolutely hate is anything in the Character tabs: Council, Court, Intrigue, etc. They are loud as all fuck and can't be deactivated nor are part of the "ambient" sound options. If you put it at zero, you can still hear the shitty whispers when you visit your council.

Can you make a separate version just for those? Pretty pleeeeeeeease?
Bias Galtar 21 Oct, 2017 @ 8:23am
You're doing God's work.
Jorlem 27 Mar, 2017 @ 12:46am
I'd like to second the suggestion for a variant that only removes the sounds from the screens, but leaves in the environmental sounds.

That aside, this mod is invaluable.
Stevoni  [author] 8 Feb, 2017 @ 2:56pm
Astat, the money in sound is event related and won't be removed since it's not an ambient noise.

If anyone with modding experience knows of a way to have sound files merged, please let me know as I'd like to accomodate as many suggestions as possible.
Astat 7 Feb, 2017 @ 11:47am
Could you please also remove money_in sounds? I couldn't find mod compatibile with yours and it overrides default sounds.fx so deleting lines doesn't do anything.
Monte Cristo 13 Jan, 2017 @ 2:59pm
Thank you so much!! This has plagued me; wish I'd seen this mod sooner.
Dionysus 🐭 4 Jan, 2017 @ 3:31pm
THANK YOU! Unchecking the ambient sounds in the audio tab did nothing.
Stevoni  [author] 17 Dec, 2016 @ 4:57pm
I didn't find any mod before I created this one, but there may be one out there now.
RC15O5 17 Dec, 2016 @ 1:37pm
Is there a mod that keeps environmental ambient noises like forests and sky winds, but removes the tab screen whipsers and shit?
Green 15 Mar, 2016 @ 7:47pm
The council terrifies me at night. Thanks! You're a saint! :guardian:
Nuc_Temeron 6 Feb, 2016 @ 6:15pm
Excellently done. Also is compatible with No Baby Cries. Hooray!
Sketchy 18 Jan, 2016 @ 1:22am
Ambient noise is annoying as fuck.

10/10 best idea ever.
J 17 Aug, 2015 @ 10:14am
