You just need to resubscribe and you can throw molotovs all day again!
@Draxter Please accept my sincere apologies. I genuinely didn’t realize that being able to throw Molotovs has become essential in the current meta. My mod focuses on fixing the blade-sharpening mechanic, but in doing so it unintentionally broke Molotov throwing. That’s on me.
I’m preparing a fix right away—especially for you—so you can get back to tossing Molotovs today. In the meantime, if it helps, you can temporarily disable my mod or roll back to the previous version.
Just don't throw throwables while using this mod ok?
Stay normal! :D A vanilla patch should be on its way. Fixing that aswell would break me right now.
Anyways, thank you TwisTon! Really helpful. I’m a spear lover lol

i just dropped another update
Thanks a ton for the suggestion! That’s outside the scope of Vanilla Bugfixes—it would fit better as a separate mod that adds weapon-crafting recipes. I also can’t speak to whether the devs intend for players to strap garden forks onto baseball bats or other long handles. This mod exists solely to fix urgent vanilla bugs. I’ll keep updating it where a fix is feasible, and it only targets the current game version.
The developers announced a hotfix for next week, so this mod may be temporarily obsolete for a few days. If new issues appear, I’ll add fixes again and make it compatible with the next version.
@lad
Thanks a lot for the feedback—I’ve pushed an update, and spears should now grant Maintenance XP again. If you’ve got a moment, could you give it a quick check on your end?
So the way crits and multipliers work it makes the hardened wooden spear the best spear from start to finish.
The end game should be garden fork but no option to attach it to large handle but you can stick through a baseball bat.
always on the top!
But no, my mod doesn't handle shoves or unequiping weapons. There is nothing coded related to that.
Yes—my mod fixes the sharpening bug for weapons that have a handle, whether you’re using the large forge grindstone or a handheld whetstone.
Weapons without a handle weren’t affected by this issue.
Best regards!
good to see the disclaimer though, I wouldn't be surprised if someone *tried this at home*
Air-swing protection: True whiffs never cost durability—no base condition and no head/handle/blade/sharpness loss.
Real-hit capping: Actual hits are clamped to max 1 point of loss on base condition and on each supported sub-track (head/grip/handle/blade/sharpness).
Maintenance XP integrity: If the game “leaks” Maintenance XP on an air swing (sticky last target), the script rolls that XP back.
Spear maintenance emulation: When a spear is misreported as non-melee, it emulates vanilla Maintenance’s “saved the hit” roll (Maintenance + floor(Spear/2) vs one-in chance).
There is already a mod out there fixing it!

Maybe you missed it!
I'll fix it aswell.
The handle contdition stays at 100% but head condition gets worse.
I'll have another look at it!
Thank you very much bringing that to me!
I'll prevent losing head condition aswell.
My mods are Lua workarounds for Java-side issues. This one ensures your weapon won’t break just because you gain additional Maintenance after hitting a door—leveling up won’t retroactively cause a break. That said, the fact that XP is granted in that scenario is a vanilla behavior/bug that can’t be fully fixed from Lua.
My script is preventing your weapon from durability loss. Not for gaining additional maintenance xp because of the vanilla bug.
The vanilla bug is that the weapon’s target isn’t cleared while you keep swinging. You still gain XP as if you were hitting the door, but neither the door nor your weapon takes damage—or breaks.
I’ve updated the mod description to clarify this so no one tries it on modern cars:
Why this change? I’m a trained automotive mechanic, and in the ’90s this was a common workaround. To be clear, that context applies to the 1990s only—I don’t recommend it on modern vehicles.

I just re-tested and everything works fine on my end. If you’re unsure, there’s a small DIAG module included with my mod—extract it and you’ll see debug console output while using a spear, including whether any durability is consumed.
From my side it’s behaving as expected. If you can reproduce air-swing durability loss, please share full reproduction steps (mods enabled, settings, weapon, actions, etc.) and I’ll gladly check it again.
Fix: Sharpening now caps at the blade/head condition, preserves handle condition, and blocks infinite XP at cap.
this sounds like you may have consumed Chewing Tobacco.
To fix it, switch the game to Debug Mode, briefly enable God Mode, then disable it again—this should clear the issue.
For now, avoid Chewing Tobacco—it’s bugged.
Hello and first of all thank you for your help with the mods, Could you fix (if possible) the smoker trait as the character no longer feels the urge to smoke, if you can I would appreciate it. Hugs.
Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure—officially, Build 42 doesn’t support multiplayer at all.
So if you’re using a modded Build 42 multiplayer, I wouldn’t vouch for it.
Warm regards!
