@DraXteR
You just need to resubscribe and you can throw molotovs all day again!
TwisTonFire  [author] 1 hour ago
@Cocaine Yes they are still bugged in Vanilla!

@Draxter Please accept my sincere apologies. I genuinely didn’t realize that being able to throw Molotovs has become essential in the current meta. My mod focuses on fixing the blade-sharpening mechanic, but in doing so it unintentionally broke Molotov throwing. That’s on me.

I’m preparing a fix right away—especially for you—so you can get back to tossing Molotovs today. In the meantime, if it helps, you can temporarily disable my mod or roll back to the previous version.
DraXteR 3 hours ago
you serious my dude? "dont throw molotovs for now, stay normal" ?!?!?! how do you think we should deal with hordes without thowables and new muscle strain mechanic??? what kind of mod is that which fixes one basic thing like sharpening axe but breaks another essential thing
Cocaine 6 hours ago
spear still bugged in vanilla?
TwisTonFire  [author] 13 hours ago
@d4r7 unfortunately not I have to say. I looked into it. But it's another java issue. I could try something - but that would be inbalanced for a vanilla playthrough. For now I just hope they'll fix it faster. This is a very annoying bug.
d4r7 13 hours ago
You are managing to be more efficient than the developers at the moment... Can you solve the problem in the new vanilla version where logs, branches, stones and other materials collectable from the ground do not spawn in new worlds?
TwisTonFire  [author] 20 Oct @ 4:25pm
And for now: Don't throw throwables, I don't know if my mod could cause a crash because of it. I never thought about throwables. So just don't use them for now, the bug could even be vanilla, I haven't tested throwables at all.
TwisTonFire  [author] 20 Oct @ 8:46am
This mod fixes still all the bugs in 42.12.2 but you need to activate it once more.
TwisTonFire  [author] 20 Oct @ 12:59am
Oh okay, I never thought about throwing a molotov.
Just don't throw throwables while using this mod ok?
Stay normal! :D A vanilla patch should be on its way. Fixing that aswell would break me right now.
DraXteR 20 Oct @ 12:55am
after installing this mod game starts crashing when throwing a molotov. at the moment of throwing molotov game freezes then black screen and to main menu
Jiopaba 18 Oct @ 8:43am
I feel like this Spear thing has been driving you nuts this week lmao. Hopefully it turns out to be something TIS can fix on their end and free us from this petty curse.
Zara ♡ 18 Oct @ 8:18am
Yes gun lights have been broken for a while now. It is a known bug. When TIS will fix it? Who knows lol

Anyways, thank you TwisTon! Really helpful. I’m a spear lover lol
TwisTonFire  [author] 18 Oct @ 6:02am
Even I don't know every bug that is currently live. But I would like to share you a link to the indiestone bug report forum, maybe you'll find something there!

明明灭灭 18 Oct @ 5:56am
I'd like to ask if there's a bug with gun lights (firearm attachments) in the vanilla game. Previously in the game, I noticed that the light installed on my pistol would disappear after a certain period of time. Trying to toggle the light on and off didn't work, and replacing the batteries didn't fix it either. Even after removing all my other mods, similar issues still occurred.
Lad 17 Oct @ 11:11pm
Thanks for the update :D
TwisTonFire  [author] 17 Oct @ 11:08pm
haha
i just dropped another update
Lad 17 Oct @ 11:06pm
@TwisTonFire i have checked it and it still not generate maintain XP
TwisTonFire  [author] 17 Oct @ 9:57pm
@JimmysTheBestCop
Thanks a ton for the suggestion! That’s outside the scope of Vanilla Bugfixes—it would fit better as a separate mod that adds weapon-crafting recipes. I also can’t speak to whether the devs intend for players to strap garden forks onto baseball bats or other long handles. This mod exists solely to fix urgent vanilla bugs. I’ll keep updating it where a fix is feasible, and it only targets the current game version.

The developers announced a hotfix for next week, so this mod may be temporarily obsolete for a few days. If new issues appear, I’ll add fixes again and make it compatible with the next version.

@lad
Thanks a lot for the feedback—I’ve pushed an update, and spears should now grant Maintenance XP again. If you’ve got a moment, could you give it a quick check on your end?
JimmysTheBestCop 17 Oct @ 6:18pm
Not sure if this something that can fall under this mod but when you max blacksmithing you can create garden forks however you can attach them to create a garden fork the best spear in the game.

So the way crits and multipliers work it makes the hardened wooden spear the best spear from start to finish.

The end game should be garden fork but no option to attach it to large handle but you can stick through a baseball bat.
Lad 17 Oct @ 10:45am
hello again :D, after the latest update the spear no longer generate maintain XP
TwisTonFire  [author] 16 Oct @ 9:35am
@falkon
always on the top!
Falkon 16 Oct @ 8:58am
Hey twis, I know you said at the top of the mod list but what aboud modded maps ? Should we put them before your mod or after ?
TwisTonFire  [author] 16 Oct @ 8:19am
But again, I did a lot of updates today. Maybe its for their best unsubscibing and resubscribing.
But no, my mod doesn't handle shoves or unequiping weapons. There is nothing coded related to that.
TwisTonFire  [author] 16 Oct @ 8:04am
@joy boy I play with my mod all day. And I can assure you, that isn't my mod^^
Joy Boy 16 Oct @ 6:10am
after enabling this mod, my chracter ramdomly unequips the when eithier on hit or when you shove
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 8:55pm
@梦才_MornTsuy thank you for your contributions!
Yes—my mod fixes the sharpening bug for weapons that have a handle, whether you’re using the large forge grindstone or a handheld whetstone.

Weapons without a handle weren’t affected by this issue.
Best regards!
梦才_MornTsuy 15 Oct @ 7:46pm
Never mind, it's not an issue with the Vanilla game. After testing, it has been confirmed that enabling the Neat Crafting mod causes the grindstone to be unable to sharpen blades.
梦才_MornTsuy 15 Oct @ 7:19pm
Is the issue with the whetstone not being able to sharpen blades. that can only be fixed by waiting for an official patch?
Galactic-_-Rebel 15 Oct @ 5:13pm
some cars in the 80's started having more advanced circuits like ecu's to run injectors on a fuel map for example, and in the early 90's cars were mostly all computerised with OBD1 being mandated in 91 in some states like California. though the computers from that era were less sensitive, and you may get away with no battery for a brief period to swap it on those older cars, I personally wouldn't do it with any car from the 80's/90's since you run the risk of frying something. especially on the more advanced cars of that time period.

good to see the disclaimer though, I wouldn't be surprised if someone *tried this at home*
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 3:55pm
I optimized the script once again:

Air-swing protection: True whiffs never cost durability—no base condition and no head/handle/blade/sharpness loss.

Real-hit capping: Actual hits are clamped to max 1 point of loss on base condition and on each supported sub-track (head/grip/handle/blade/sharpness).

Maintenance XP integrity: If the game “leaks” Maintenance XP on an air swing (sticky last target), the script rolls that XP back.

Spear maintenance emulation: When a spear is misreported as non-melee, it emulates vanilla Maintenance’s “saved the hit” roll (Maintenance + floor(Spear/2) vs one-in chance).
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 8:00am
@Sibuscus Thank you very much for your suggestion!

There is already a mod out there fixing it!
https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3584126711
Maybe you missed it!
Sibuscus 15 Oct @ 7:10am
I have a suggestion for you, its regarding Chewing Tobacco which broke my game, basically. Chewing Tobacco sets the Stress, Stress From Cigarettes,Time Since Last Smoke and Unhappiness to "nan" values instead of 0. This permanently disables these moodlets. If you smoke a cigarette, you can notice it sets them to 0. I just debugged to confirm without any mods.
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 6:38am
@Lad No! thanks to you I found another thing to fix! Thanks again!
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 6:35am
So for now all weapons without a blade/head should be safe for swinging in air - it will repaired in an instant. but heads/blades are still losing durability.
I'll fix it aswell.
Lad 15 Oct @ 6:34am
@TwisTonFire thank you for the explain, im sorry for bother you this much, guess i misunderstanding how it work :D, thank you for this great mod brother
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 6:31am
It looks like I have to get another look about sharpness and head condition.
The handle contdition stays at 100% but head condition gets worse.
I'll have another look at it!

Thank you very much bringing that to me!
I'll prevent losing head condition aswell.
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 6:04am
To be clear, I don’t want to overload the mod with every conceivable vanilla behavior. This is a solid workaround until the devs fix the Java-side bug. If I start suppressing XP at different stages or stacking custom rules, I might as well rewrite the whole game. Your weapon will not break from air swings—even if you still gain XP.
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 6:00am
@Lad, thanks for the detailed write-up!
My mods are Lua workarounds for Java-side issues. This one ensures your weapon won’t break just because you gain additional Maintenance after hitting a door—leveling up won’t retroactively cause a break. That said, the fact that XP is granted in that scenario is a vanilla behavior/bug that can’t be fully fixed from Lua.

My script is preventing your weapon from durability loss. Not for gaining additional maintenance xp because of the vanilla bug.
The vanilla bug is that the weapon’s target isn’t cleared while you keep swinging. You still gain XP as if you were hitting the door, but neither the door nor your weapon takes damage—or breaks.
Lad 15 Oct @ 5:34am
@TwisTonFire hello can you tell me how do i get these DIAG, i have test it again with only this mod and ExpDrop on, i create a world with Apocalypse mode, then i use a NightStick to hit on a door, after that every few air-swing i gain Maintenance XP and there a chance that damage the weapon
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 4:03am
@Galactic-_-Rebel
I’ve updated the mod description to clarify this so no one tries it on modern cars:

Why this change? I’m a trained automotive mechanic, and in the ’90s this was a common workaround. To be clear, that context applies to the 1990s only—I don’t recommend it on modern vehicles.
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 3:54am
Here’s what it looks like: the first swing hit a valid target; all subsequent swings were air swings—no durability lost and a 0% chance to lose durability.

https://pastebin.com/43KDA9tS
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 3:43am
multi hit can also be a factor i don't mess with.
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 3:42am
@Lad I haven’t changed anything related to the air-swing durability fix today.

I just re-tested and everything works fine on my end. If you’re unsure, there’s a small DIAG module included with my mod—extract it and you’ll see debug console output while using a spear, including whether any durability is consumed.

From my side it’s behaving as expected. If you can reproduce air-swing durability loss, please share full reproduction steps (mods enabled, settings, weapon, actions, etc.) and I’ll gladly check it again.
TwisTonFire  [author] 15 Oct @ 3:34am
@ Galactic-_-Rebel the game plays in 1993 and no, I didn't say that you should or can do that with cars nowadays. But in the 90s that was common practice.
Galactic-_-Rebel 15 Oct @ 2:49am
you should not swap a battery while a cars engine is running, older carb cars with little electrics sure but, parts like the ecu are sensitive to input voltage and the car battery smooths and maintains voltages outputted from the alternator. without the battery there will be voltage spikes and you could fry things, expensive things. I suggest nobody try this on a car in real life.
Lad 15 Oct @ 2:04am
hello, could you check it again, after the update today the air-swing durability is back
TwisTonFire  [author] 14 Oct @ 10:18pm
Added a new bugfix:
Fix: Sharpening now caps at the blade/head condition, preserves handle condition, and blocks infinite XP at cap.
TwisTonFire  [author] 14 Oct @ 9:06pm
Hello JR. o alvo fácil,
this sounds like you may have consumed Chewing Tobacco.
To fix it, switch the game to Debug Mode, briefly enable God Mode, then disable it again—this should clear the issue.
For now, avoid Chewing Tobacco—it’s bugged.

Hello and first of all thank you for your help with the mods, Could you fix (if possible) the smoker trait as the character no longer feels the urge to smoke, if you can I would appreciate it. Hugs.
TwisTonFire  [author] 14 Oct @ 1:44pm
Deiron, thank you so much for your very valid question!
Unfortunately, I can’t say for sure—officially, Build 42 doesn’t support multiplayer at all.
So if you’re using a modded Build 42 multiplayer, I wouldn’t vouch for it.

Warm regards!
