Cauldron System

Hi,

I have been playing in the Cauldron system for a while now. My start has been Tellus. The terrain of Tellus is looking really great. But it comes with a downside: The terrain is very rough. A small grid rover is struggling to drive a few kilometres for scouting for metal ore veins. In spectator mode I have found the very next gold deposit in approx 40 km distance. Flying this distance with a mining vessel requires a stop at almost every frozen lake. And driving this distance with a ground vehicle takes ages. Is this intended ?

The only solution I have come to might be a mobile base ( ground or airborne ). That's a pity to narrow the game play to only a few possibilities.

This is definitely on the greater quality side of planet mods. They all look really beautiful and the presentation is great. I only ask for a Tellus version with water mod support. By which I mean, a version of Tellus with terrain depression in place of flat ice segments

Every material has a different drop rate and drops different ores, depends on what exactly you tried to mine. As the guide says, kor doesnt have any stone, only a little bit in voxelmaps, which is why it's considered a difficult start. The materials on agni drop stone normally, except for the sand, which only drops a little bit of silver, no stone.

I don't know if this is on my server end, but all the planets except for Tellus have abysmal stone output. For example, when you mine the ston, if any, it gives an extremely small amount, making starting out basically impossible, if not taking forever. You can mine with your hand drill for a whole 2–5 minutes and get only about 100 stone, which can barely make the most basic components.

Can you upload your world i will like to see what you build I3ξτ^н4ЖΣ0я ?

Phenomenal mod. You're a maestro of SE planet modding.
Made the Gas Giant with the Real Gas Giants mod and it looks amazing. Put Agni inside a gap of the rings to get a cool eclipse every day (also positioned the others to get varying lengths of eclipses).
Spawned on Agni and feared I might have set things too easy, but then I managed to blow up my hydrogen tank just before getting to a decent base spot. The terrain looks gorgeous but is quite challenging and I am all here for it.
Please keep up the amazing work!

You may have already answered this, but are there any plans for a water-mod compatible version?
Major Jon  [author] 15 Oct @ 10:40am
I would put Agni just outside the gravity range of the gas giant somewhere inside the rings, looks cool if it's that close. The other ones could be anywhere, but keep in mind the jumpdrive distance is 2000km, so maybe not to far away.

Hi !

Are there recommended positions for the planets ?

I have taken a look into the fandom wiki to learn how to move spawned planets around.

My plan is to use the solar system as a template for the asteroids and remove the regular planets and moons. And then I want to add your gas giant and its three "moons".

Maybe you have already made something similar. I don't have a clue what might be good distances between them.

Thanks for making this great mod !
Major Jon  [author] 5 Oct @ 4:27am
just add more planet mods to your world, you can create whatever system you want
Ike 4 Oct @ 12:25pm
Hey Major Jon, Love this! is it possible to get even a bigger Solar System with more planets to explore? (iam very happy with these planets, love to see more!)
GigaCars 3 Oct @ 4:37pm
nice
Major Jon  [author] 3 Oct @ 4:37pm
Update: now has built in proxies for RealSolarSystems
Iceman 3 Oct @ 5:27am
I would love to have some proxies for these planets. I am currently trying to build a solar system with them for a new playthrough ^^
GadenKerensky 3 Oct @ 1:07am
Are any of these planets set up for the water mod, or not intended?
GigaCars 2 Oct @ 6:31pm
contrary to popular belief, you don't need proxies for them to work
it's just to be able to see them as they are from proxy and orbit space, you can use a similar proxy but it would look wonky unless you tune up the fadeout range, but doing so sacrifices the rotation visual unless you also tune up the surface zone, which with fast spinning objects can cause some dizziness sometimes
Major Jon  [author] 2 Oct @ 8:10am
@Krateria currently no, I'll see if I can add these proxies to it.

Curious about the water mod
RangerOmega 1 Oct @ 7:52am
Is there any intention of adding these planets to the Alkurah System? I noticed it was still marked outdated and am curious if this is the reason why.
NorthyPark 1 Oct @ 1:29am
Wow, another set of amazing planets from you! Can't wait to check them out!
CosmicDonut 30 Sep @ 8:33pm
Discord link works now. Thank you!
Admiral 30 Sep @ 7:52pm
Nice work! I would only recommend you making custom creatures for your system! It will be more immersive, and of course, optional.
GadenKerensky 30 Sep @ 5:56pm
Is Tellus designed to work with the Water Mod?
Gaë_Territory😈 30 Sep @ 3:45pm
Nice mod. good thumbnails aswell.
Leo2log 30 Sep @ 3:40pm
Omg wasn't expecting to see this just before I went to bed 😂 This looks absolutely INSANE and I cant wait to check it out tomorrow.
Major Jon  [author] 30 Sep @ 11:52am
updated it
CosmicDonut 30 Sep @ 11:49am
Invalid or expired.
CosmicDonut 30 Sep @ 11:48am
I'd like to join the Discord... but the Discord link in invalid!
Major Jon  [author] 30 Sep @ 8:28am
@BlueNebulaRandy ofc, I made so people would use it :D
"Red" the Pirate 30 Sep @ 8:11am
How do you get a planet up to 900km?
BlueNebulaRandy 29 Sep @ 9:41pm
Can I play with this mod on a YT video?
Major Jon  [author] 29 Sep @ 4:13pm
you can assign music to planets via categories and weights. The vanilla planets barely use that and only spawn like 3 of the 15 categories. I added in a bit more, including the music competition songs, although with pretty low weights. I just thought it was a shame they never get played anywhere. I guess sometimes you get some more funky music, I might wanna make a custom category and exclude some of the songs.
Null 29 Sep @ 2:53pm
Just finished spawning my system and I hear music playing… I thought it was a video I had opened but there’s nothing. The moment I exit the save the music stops. You didn’t happen to add music to Tellus did you? Is that possible? Am I just crazy? lol
Shurenai 29 Sep @ 11:38am
Of course this pops up on the workshop a few days after I started a fresh save and am already knee deep in about-to-get-off-world-finally. :CryingGhost: Guess I'll sub and come back to this in a few months when it's time to start anew again.
Cole1138 29 Sep @ 11:09am
i will always sub to a planet mod
GigaCars 29 Sep @ 10:21am
it's basically just making a few images like with Heightmaps, they can be in the mod itself as a proxy itself is relatively small usually and is inactive till the mod is added and the planet is spawned

there is also a tutorial linked to the exporter, so you could also watch that to make a proxy
quick link to exporter: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3350589349

it's up to you to make a proxy however, and someone would probably do it themselves eventually if you don't, but still
Major Jon  [author] 29 Sep @ 9:12am
@GigaCars I've never made any proxies for RSS, I don't really know how that works. So far Echthros made all the proxies for my planets.
Major Jon  [author] 29 Sep @ 9:10am
@Infet Damn, I didn't know there is another one called Tellus, I thought I looked up all the names :sefacepalm:
That mod is probably incompatible then. I would guess that if you add this mod and remove the other tellus mod, the planet would be replaced by this one. But I don't think you could have both in the same world. And gravity and the atmosphere might also not update. You could probably have these planets and the other tellus by changing the load order so it overrides this tellus. Honestly idk what'll happen, but try it out, save it before and play around with the load order.
Infet 29 Sep @ 1:19am
Nice! If I have Tellus already on a world, can I safely substitute it with this one? Or I need to place it again
GigaCars 28 Sep @ 8:00pm
holy detail

any proxies for use in Real Solar Systems?
i am 100% using that gas giant skin and those planets/moons in a star system
Osker 28 Sep @ 3:13pm
Oh wow, this looks amazing! I've loved every planet/moon you've made so far. Can't wait to check this out.
Grebanton1234 28 Sep @ 3:00pm
"Mom, new Major Jon planets dropped!"
