el mapa es un solido 10/10 la verdad se merese 5 estrellas lo unico malo que se le puede sacar es que si no tenes una pc buena puede dar bajones de fps por su alta complejidad e interiores deyados y una narracion visual muy buena ademas de que tiene un gran potencial para fondos de pantalla y fotos durisimas, una de las mejores cosas del mapa es que es dificil encontrar edificios sin interiores modelados :steamthumbsup:

Nah, it was set dressing for some accompanying scripts that would work with game mechanics in the commissioner's server. The server didn't pan out, though, so they're just little cosmetic things to interact with

The black mesa assets admittedly do add a lot to the file size, but they look so nice. For future projects, I'm definitely portioning out Black Mesa assets into a separate content pack

Yeah, 100% density fog can be great for optimization, since you can just tell the engine to not draw anything past the pure opacity threshold of the fog. 100% density fog doesn't look very good, however, imo

@Flaminglump On second thought, the case was very specific for the gamemode we were running that naturally had dense fog built in which allowed us to increase no_draw distance on most stuff.

@Purple_exp Can you elaborate? Props already have draw distance values set up on them. There's the Far Z clip plane, but that's not a viable option for this map. I've got area portals handling as many interiors as they can reasonably handle, and hint brushes are set up where my, admittedly journeyman knowledge of them allows. The big issue is just that the slums area is visible from so many different locations on the map that it's basically impossible to optimize what's being drawn down there

tbh it's very unfortunate that vmf is not avaible, with some basic tweaks like draw_distance my friends were able to get insane perfomance boost on the previous version of this map.

Yeah, I got it working about as well as I can. Unfortunately I can't really fix the optimization without a fundamental rework of the map layout. Definitely didn't help the fact that I have a mid-high end PC which brute forced the frame rate through to 80+ at all points in development. Since release, I've heard lower end specs struggling.

First time I entered the dimension of existence threat through that mystery plant I'm thinking it's really looks like the Rher's dimension in TERMINA! Until I really found a Symbol of Old God in somewhere of the map!

BIG map with plenty of spots and themes from regular streets to slums and underground areas. There are interactions ranging from gates, elevators, to flooding!
The map is very well suited for a nice and truly dark rp experience :steamthumbsup: with places to setup shop, multiple housing spots, hideouts and all else one would expect from a good RP map, plus some secrets and details like actual slippery bloody floors :lunar2019madpig: recommend! Had fun while exploring it.

Oh, ok I see what you mean. I don't think I'd do exactly that. I dont think I'd make a separate map that's more of the same idea. I feel like this is realized enough for my liking. My next map will likely be a similar style, but with a completely different approach.

I know You Can't Add Anything else, I said Split the map in Half, One part of the map in One Map, and Another Part of the map in a Separate Map.

E.G. "Rp_Aorta_Part1, Rp_Aorta_Part2."

It's just a Random idea in an Attempt to Free up Vertex Space So You Can Add the Things you wanted to Add but Couldn't. If "Vertex Resource Allocation" means what I think it means (Too many vertices/vertexes in the map). But hey I don't Know Anything About Hammer or Jack, if it's Impossible it's Impossible, if it's not easy don't do it, don't want to do it you don't have to.

I cannot add anything else to this map. The resource limits of the compiler will not allow it. A couple more straws will break the camels back and the map will no longer compile

If you Wanted to you could Split the map in half, One part of the Map By it self, and another Part as a Whole Other map, Just a Random Thought, Not saying you have to Do it, You probably went through Enough Trouble making this One. I played through about say a third of it right now, and I still have so Much More. Couple Annoying Bugs, But no Big Deal.

Thats a very nice map. Also Ultimate Demon I understand you everytime I lost mod I wait for somebody to reupload or something its really heartbroking.

But yeah, aorta's not my first map. I've worked on a lot of stuff over the past 15-ish years I've been messing around in Hammer. Most of it never sees the light of day, withering away on an external drive lol

Well That Explains Why Aorta Beta Suddenly Disappeared From My Addons List. Seriously, I just Lost a Weapon mod because It was Deleted, And Having Another Mod Suddenly Vanish From My Collection was like an Annoying Heart Attack. But hey at least this one is Explainable. Can't Wait to Explore this New and Improved Map... 😀
