Realistic Car Physics [B42]

@Stooopidsqwrl It was to try and improve realism as I was tweaking the dash to actually let you click/hold the key to start the car in another mod. Next version of this mod it will be optional if W starts the car or not.

@Prof: Thus far there is no manual shifting, its fully automatic atm. I'll likely add a manual transmission after I release my next mod that adds 20 simulated engine parts to the game.

The difference between this mod and better car physics is this one touches less classes, focuses on automatic transmissions, visual effects and sandbox settable torque/traction/etc.

Why is that thing? I just wanna tow easier. :steamsad: @Prof.Liebstrumpf

@Stoopid You live up to your nickname xD

"Disables autostart when you press the gas pedal. Click the engine icon or press engine start (default N) instead! (Soon to be optional!)"

Currently have a bug from adding the mod midsave. I can no longer start vehicles with the w key, I have to use the menu wheel or click the ignition.
Prof.Liebstrumpf 2 hours ago
Manual gearshifting? That's why i used "better car physics" but it's broken somehow.

whats the difference between this mod and"better car physics"?

this mod would be so nice on b41
Black_moons  [author] 15 hours ago
@Rachel L: I simulate tire friction for acceleration (Tire condition now matters!), and also let you adjust the overall torque and traction of all vehicle
Rachel L 16 hours ago
How you ensured that vehicles dont have stupidly high speeds? Like, going from 0 to 60mph ultra fast?
Rubber Flubber 16 hours ago
Thanks for the info, loving the mod and have no notes otherwise! Feels satisfying to drive.
Black_moons  [author] 17 hours ago
@Graysid: I haven't tested it for B41 so I don't know, I suspect it does not. If enough people ask I may try to backport it.

@Bravo: Considering it since enough people are asking for it!

@BigBrotherBilly: I would love to see some!
graysid 19 hours ago
Does it work for B41?
Bravo 19 hours ago
Manual transmission planned?
BigBrotherBilly 23 hours ago
Has anyone uploaded detailed test footage to youtube?
Black_moons  [author] 4 Sep @ 7:51pm
@Artimedias: Thank you!
@Rubber Flubber: Yep! Set torque for overall acceleration, and set traction higher (or get better condition/quality tires) if you start hearing too many burnout noises in 1st/2nd gear.
Artimedias 4 Sep @ 7:44pm
One of the best modders in the scene atm, well done.
Rubber Flubber 4 Sep @ 6:55pm
I'm finding the cars just a bit slow (though that might just be me being used to Better Car Physics), I see settings in the sandbox options for stuff like torque, would I just tweak those until I find a speed I'm happy with?
tveterGG 4 Sep @ 8:41am
b41 for MP pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee
Black_moons  [author] 4 Sep @ 7:10am
Sorry about that @Robert.1308, If you had told me it occurred when you got into a car I could have diagnosed it as needing a reinstall.

Mostly posting for anybody else who encounters a similar issue to me from like 10 pages of comments ago.

I figured out my game crash on entering the driver seat issue. Looks like I must've hit cancel or otherwise interrupted the file overwrite and the game didn't know what to do when a vehicle suddenly needed physics applied to it.

Doing a complete uninstall of your mod with the instructions provided and starting from scratch fixed the issue. I thought the issue was still unresolved but it tends to help when you enable the mod you want to use

@Deaktivated: Yes copy the folder steamapps\workshop\content\108600\3559765660\mods\Realistic Car Physics\42\zombie the entire folder, to the main game directory Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid not the mods directory. it should replace 6 files if its placed in the correct spot.
DEAKTIVATED 3 Sep @ 2:42pm
@Black_moons do I just drop it in the game directory or do I just put it in the mods folder cause it's in the mod folder but its still not working
Black_moons  [author] 3 Sep @ 2:37pm
@Angell: Thank you very much for confirming it! I had hoped it would work on mac too!
Angell 3 Sep @ 2:27pm
And it working fine u just need to copy .class java files inside zombie folder there :)
Angell 3 Sep @ 2:25pm
ok so on mac u need to copy files here /Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/Project Zomboid.app/Contents/Java/zombie/core/physics
Black_moons  [author] 3 Sep @ 2:16pm
@DEAKTIVATED: You have to follow the install instructions in the description and copy the correct files over.

@angell: There is a guide on better car physics how to install java mods on mac but I have no idea if it works or not as I do not own a mac to test. I can't really recommend it as others have had problems following it. If you do try it please report back if it works.
Angell 3 Sep @ 1:51pm
how i can manualy install it on mac ? the patsh are same but still getting message when im jump in to car "mod its not installed correctly"
DEAKTIVATED 3 Sep @ 1:43pm
When I get into a car it say that it's not installed correctly but idk what i'm doing
Black_moons  [author] 3 Sep @ 8:00am
@xConscrypt Vanilla issue, I don't change how braking or suspension works or increase braking force at all. Vanilla wheels can basically just phase into the ground.

@Zamen Thanks for the feedback! I may eventually add manual transmission but I am working on other features atm.
xConscrypt 3 Sep @ 7:15am
I slammed the brakes on my among us mobile and fucking died
Zamen We Delta [Lodymes] 2 Sep @ 11:22pm
i really love this mod especially in the very first time i am using it in my existing save and hit a lot of things because i haven't getting used to the first gear acceleration on a military truck by KI5 :DD.

Is there a plan to apply manual transmission options to vehicles (or just embed them directly to vehicles without making a menu mods settings? This not only just satisfy manual drivers crave but also helps to reduce sudden fast acceleration by use second gear to accelerate from idle while retaining the first gear acceleration for emergency situation!

But anyways thanks to this mod it's much more realistic and easier to drive around grass while towing!
Rachel L 2 Sep @ 2:10pm
@Black_moons great to know! Also, you arent the only one who reported that problem with suspensions to the devs, the PZK VLC dev also has reported it and i am sure some others have too. TIS needs to rework the whole car physics and systems sooner than later
Black_moons  [author] 2 Sep @ 1:50pm
@Creature: This mod does not change how cars suspension or wheels handle (it really can't as that is handled by C++ not java). The vanilla game has never been good with super heavy cars, your wheels basically end up sinking into the ground at some point. Iv reported it to the developers already.

@DECODE: Its from Filibuster Rhymes' Used Cars! Used with permission! Many super cool cars in that mod, check them out! It is tagged B41 but it works for B42 now.
DECODE 2 Sep @ 12:25pm
where could i find that car in the photo?
Black_moons  [author] 2 Sep @ 12:12pm
@UattO @Rachel L This is OK to use with modded cars as it uses all the vanilla data to come up with torque and gear ratios for them, And I am coming out with a new update that lets you easily adjust any cars torque and top speed to better fit with the mod/your playstyle! No more overpowered APC's or underpowered pickup trucks!
Creature 2 Sep @ 12:02pm
Im using K1A's truck mods and whenever i load them up to capacity they basically break. Is this because of this mod?
Rachel L 2 Sep @ 11:21am
I imagined modded cars would need be to be patched to be balanced with this correct?
Don Mac 2 Sep @ 10:25am
thx for the info, love the mod so far, great work
UattO 2 Sep @ 10:15am
is this mod ok used with some vehicle mods?
ApoStoli_S 2 Sep @ 9:37am
@Black_moons Nice! Thank you for fast answer! It helped a lot!
Black_moons  [author] 2 Sep @ 8:31am
@apoStoli_S Enable debug mode and there is an option for sandbox options, or use the mod: [B42] Sandbox Options

@Don Mac you just need to hold the gas down long enough without releasing it, about 1/2 second or so and it will accelerate as fast as it can.

Not all cars have the same redline anymore though! Only sports cars rev really high.
ApoStoli_S 2 Sep @ 8:02am
it` a great mod! But... I have a problem, i set torque at too high level, am i able to change it during game? Even by editing files or smth, i need help with that xD
Don Mac 2 Sep @ 7:41am
Hello, how do i floor the car? Sometimes it starts very fast and other time it just speed normally.
KiwiCupraR 2 Sep @ 6:40am
great mod
Black_moons  [author] 2 Sep @ 4:46am
@ImAlright: Sent you a friend request on steam, can help walk you through the process.
Black_moons  [author] 2 Sep @ 4:43am
@ImAlright: Try steam validate files first and see if your game runs, then install the mod.
If that does not work, uninstall and reinstall.
ImAlright 2 Sep @ 4:14am
@Black_moons when I tried to install it on MacOS as per the instructions it didn't work, so I tried the method used in better car physics, and realized that I merged instead of replacing it. When I tried to replace it afterwards my game would no longer run. Should I reinstall zomboid and replace the files when prompted? idk what to do
Black_moons  [author] 2 Sep @ 3:33am
@NonstickSQYD Yea sorry, I forgot entirely to mention it! I am going to add a sandbox option to enable/disable that and default it to enabled so it doesn't take people by surprise!
NonstickSQYD 2 Sep @ 3:13am
b42 and idk not throwing shade or anything, and yeah no i had no idea that you had to manually press n/click engine so yeah that was prob the reason the cars wouldnt move
chalk it up to me not reading the description
