Captured Vehicle Skins (CVS)

In addition to what he said there's also images of US captured 251 halftracks, a couple Panthers that I think historically were British captured but had US style white stars painted on and even a rare 234/3 was captured and ridden on. It appears from the images I've seen as well that the 83rd Infantry Division had a thing for putting USA on kinda blocky letters onto their German captures

tysm for the King Tiger! But may I also request the StuG III and a Tiger I for captured since according to the wikipedia they are captured by the US as well? Again thank you for your work
rainbowpeanut1119 3 Oct @ 5:25pm
another question, do you plan on adding skins for more early war vehicles too, since most of these are later in the war (and tech tree)
Aquasp  [author] 2 Oct @ 7:49am
@rainbowpeanut1119, Thanks to your question, in the next updates I will keep an updated list in the mod folder.
Aquasp  [author] 2 Oct @ 7:48am
@shadowghost64, Your wish has been granted. 4 captured King Tiger skins await you.
rainbowpeanut1119 1 Oct @ 6:09pm
do you have a list somewhere of all the tanks that have captured paint schemes?
Aquasp  [author] 1 Oct @ 7:28am
@Gakusei I’ve already researched all these vehicles. I work with primary sources (WWII photos) and verify every marking and color. It just takes time to produce even one skin (base variant + damaged state + destroyed state), and the same goes for winter camouflage/winterized versions. Later, I plan to include some Beute camouflage schemes. These are unique and field-applied, and they’re very complex to represent on a texture—mainly seen on T-34 variants and Sherman variants used by the Germans.
Gakusei 1 Oct @ 4:47am
Should we expect captured vehicle skins from you? Namely:
1) BA-20 (German and Finnish);
2) FAI-M (Finnish);
3) BA-6 (German);
4) T-26 (German);
5) KV-2 (German);
6) Churchill (German);
7) Sherman variants (German);
8) T-20 Komsomolets (German);
9) BT-5 and T-37A (German) (they are in the game, but are only used in a couple of missions);
10) BT-7 (German);
11) M3 Lee (German);
12) ZIS-2 and 3 anti-tank guns (German);
13) Pz III (Soviet);
14) Stug III (Soviet);
15) SU-85 (German).
Aquasp  [author] 30 Sep @ 11:23pm
@shadowghost64 :) I have already researched and have the pictures of the original vehicle. The markings were big white stars on a red or olive green background (pieces of sack material). If I have some free time, I will do it today or tomorrow.
Aquasp  [author] 30 Sep @ 11:12pm
@Prkl8r , for Conquest just go into the Conquest menu → Army → select the vehicle → Specifications (Appearance dropdown) and choose the texture you want.
If I’ve made a beute / captured / trophy skin for that unit, it will appear automatically in that list when you capture the vehicle. For Now this is the complete list of the skins available: BEUTE = T-34 M1941, KV-1 M1940, KV-1E, T-70M M1943, T-34 M1942, KV-1 M1939, BA-10, IS-2 M1943, IS-2 M1944, T-34-85 M1944 and finished also OT-34-85 (Flame) (available in the next update) . TROPHY = Pz.Kpfw Panther Ausf.A
Prkl8r 30 Sep @ 8:26pm
Does this require a new game? I have the mod active but don't see camos in the list.
shadowghost64 30 Sep @ 12:39am
I noticed the lack of capture skins, may I request a capture skin for the King Tiger? afaik the US captured and tested at least one of them and only slaps the white star so it should be simple, no?
Aquasp  [author] 29 Sep @ 5:36am
@Zyncretic As you can see in the comments below, I've made it a habit to take into account user requests for skins. So next on the priority list will be the Shermans :)
Zyncretic 28 Sep @ 11:45pm
@Aquasp Works thanks, Could we get simple beute skins for the soviet m4 shermans?
Aquasp  [author] 28 Sep @ 11:00pm
@Zyncretic Yes, for Conquest you don’t have to edit or code anything. Just go into the Conquest menu → Army → select the vehicle → Specifications (Appearance dropdown) and choose the texture you want.
If I’ve made a beute / captured / trophy skin for that unit, it will appear automatically in that list when you capture the vehicle.
bf 28 Sep @ 9:35am
I love u
Zyncretic 28 Sep @ 9:09am
So if i capture a tank in conquest this mod will actually change the skin automatically with no coding / editing files required?
Aquasp  [author] 28 Sep @ 6:55am
@CaptArcticWolf I’m not exactly sure what you mean by a “set” file. The mod doesn’t require anything else to work apart from what I already detailed in the description, the info.txt inside the mod folder, or the technicallimitation.txt.
Aquasp  [author] 28 Sep @ 6:54am
@Terra Nova Unfortunately I don’t have the time resources at the moment to work on Finnish captured skins. The main limitation is that almost all Finnish captures had camouflage, and also the censorship of Finnish markings — I would personally prefer to keep the historical truth.
Aquasp  [author] 28 Sep @ 6:52am
@sneaky iwo jima Your wish has been granted 🙂 I’ve added a total of 10 captured skins for IS-2 M1943, IS-2 M1944 and T-34-85 M1944.
ogniandemocritus 28 Sep @ 4:49am
It would be really nice if they added hypothetical skins. I mean, for example - American vehicles captured by the Soviets, for users of mods that add the ability to fight against everyone.
Terra Nova 26 Sep @ 4:45am
will there be skins for finland eventually ?
chill guy 22 Sep @ 4:41am
When t34-85/IS2 captured skins?
CaptArcticWolf 21 Sep @ 7:33am
No "Set" file for editing. Should i validate files?
Aquasp  [author] 21 Sep @ 6:31am
@Max Drechsler — I just added 3 new German KV-1 M1939 Beutepanzer skins :)
Aquasp  [author] 19 Sep @ 6:41pm
Big News for Conquest Players!

The developers have just announced that Texmods will be supported in Conquest (see Update 60). This means you’ll finally be able to use custom skins and paint schemes directly in your Conquest campaigns, with proper saving and preview in the roster screen.

It might even be partly the result of the suggestions I’ve been making over the last 3 months on the official Gates of Hell Discord — asking for exactly this feature. It’s amazing to see it become reality so quickly!

For those of us who love historical immersion (captured vehicles, authentic camouflages, emblems, etc.), this update is a real game changer.
Aquasp  [author] 19 Sep @ 6:39pm
@Max Drechsler — Yes. Camouflage for the KV-1 ’39 is planned, and since you asked about it specifically, the next skin I’ll be adding will be for this vehicle.
Max Drechsler [©ARm] 15 Sep @ 12:55pm
@Marcus. Yes. Load order specified in the ARm collection page.
Max Drechsler [©ARm] 15 Sep @ 12:54pm
Hello. Is camouflage planned for the KV-1 '39? This tank is in high demand when captured.
shiver me timbers 14 Sep @ 5:22pm
Please add finns, even if it is like the vanilla skins.
Marcus Aurelius 3 Sep @ 9:39pm
Compatible with Arm ? Load order ?
georider 2 Sep @ 3:39pm
@Aquasp we can talk in discord as well you know where to find me , well done once more :steamthumbsup:
SDM_3313 2 Sep @ 3:25pm
Thanks for the reply, good luck!
Aquasp  [author] 2 Sep @ 3:19pm
Thanks a lot, @Georider! Your advice is very helpful. When I get to working on camouflage colors, I will definitely take this into consideration.
Aquasp  [author] 2 Sep @ 3:15pm
Hello SDM_3313, and thanks a lot for your kind words and interest!

At the moment I am focusing only on Germans, Soviets, and Americans. Finns are not included for now, since there are censorship issues that prevent me from representing their captured markings correctly.

It’s a slow process, because I aim for historical accuracy. I work directly from period photographs and sources, studying the exact colors, insignia, writings, and dimensions. For example, there are dozens of variations of the Balkenkreuz alone, and I recreate each by hand.
Aquasp  [author] 2 Sep @ 3:15pm
My approach is simple: I reproduce what actually happened in the field. Sometimes vehicles were hastily repainted with a spray gun, and insignia applied directly over the old paint. That’s why my skins show spray marks and look freshly painted.

Captured tanks rarely stayed long on marches — they went into combat quickly. Historical photos often show them relatively clean and “new,” and I try to reflect exactly that feeling in my work.
georider 2 Sep @ 3:04pm
@Aquasp your approach are very smart in enumerators yes agree . As for the german beaute panzer camo's they did what they do all the time repaint the tanks in repair field workshop so special at the end of war when they missing dunklgleb they use small parts of that keep the original olive drab ( shermans or Soviet green ) and add some shaps of rotbraun to make their camo
SDM_3313 2 Sep @ 3:03pm
Hello, Developer! (Aquasp, I assume)
I really liked your modification! It's good that someone decided to do this.

I have a question: do the Germans and Finns have a fleet of captured Soviet tanks (BT, T-34, KV)

What do you plan to do with them? Will you simply allow them to be repainted in regular Soviet camouflage, or will you do something else (such as writing about their return or removing enemy symbols)?

Yes, I admit, I'm looking far ahead (Maybe you'll only use popular techniques, and you won't even use the DLC).

Thank you for your response.

Sorry for my English, I'm writing this through a translator.
Aquasp  [author] 1 Sep @ 7:21pm
Thanks a lot, georider! I’m still at the beginning with this project, but every skin I release is based on careful research and backed by historical photo evidence. Each marking is hand-drawn — so far for example, I’ve identified and recreated more than 40 variations of the Balkenkreuz used on Beutepanzers.

I also took the time to clarify how the enumerators work and how to integrate CVS into Change Paint Scheme — I included instructions both in the Steam description and inside the mod folder (two .txt files for users).

I really enjoy the camouflage patterns you’ve created for your mod — they add a lot of flavor. I haven’t jumped into camouflages yet, because Beutepanzers (especially captured T-34s) often carried unique, individual schemes that are tricky to reproduce.

Hopefully, one day we can push the devs to enable enumerators and texmods in Conquest before missions start — that would really open the door for more authentic gameplay.
georider 31 Aug @ 3:11pm
Very good work well , done , you can though remove the enumerators using an alpha channel blank enumerator but that will affect the soviet skins as well . Change paint scheme from Kirin is a must have in order to use those skins in conquest . Again well done :steamthumbsup:

Thank you very much for the instructions on the info file! I'm a sperg and sometimes on written text they're too vague and i get confused but this was very straight forward and yeah. Also thank you for this mod, i was trying to find one a few weeks ago but the one that existed was kindf of buggy.
Aquasp  [author] 30 Aug @ 7:13am
Keeganite, 𝑫𝒊𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒊, General Rubenski and THE-DEVIL — thanks a lot for the feedback and questions!

✔️ The skins do work in Conquest and Skirmish, but they need to be integrated with the Change Paint Scheme mod.
Inside the CVS mod folder you’ll find step-by-step instructions in the file:

...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\400750\3555564277\info.txt

(path may vary depending on where Steam is installed on your PC)

Once Change Paint Scheme mod is set up with the extra lines from this mod info.txt, you’ll be able to select the captured skins after capturing vehicles in both missions/skirmish and Conquest mode.

And General Rubenski — I’m definitely planning more captured camo variants, your support means a lot!
Keeganite 29 Aug @ 7:58am
I have a question since i'm new to skins. How do i put them in the game? It doesn't appear on my tanks after i capture them.

Very nice! Love using this in conquest mode for my German campaign for the flavor. I'll support more captured tank camos
THE-DEVIL 28 Aug @ 4:13pm
could you make it possible to use the tanks in normal skirmish
TAT 27 Aug @ 10:04pm
amazing!
Aquasp  [author] 27 Aug @ 6:15pm
Mac, Yes, I do plan to add more heavier captured tanks as well in future updates. If you have a specific vehicle in mind, let me know and I’ll try to prioritize it.
Mac 27 Aug @ 2:06pm
mod looks great, just wondering if your planning on adding other heavier tanks to list?
