Captured Vehicle Skins (CVS)

Description
Beute, Trophy & Captured Paint Schemes — by MitchCiu

Historical textures for Conquest (native), Editor, and Change Paint Scheme.

Content Update — v1.1.1

Added 6 new German Beutepanzer skins (KV-1 M1941 and OT-34-85 (Flame) variants).
Added 4 new US Captured skins (Pz.Kpfw Tiger II Ausf.B (Early) variants).

These appear as texmods in Conquest and Editor, and can be integrated into Change Paint Scheme (CPS) — see info.txt in the mod folder for setup.

This mod introduces historically inspired paint scheme variants for captured vehicles. Organized into sets such as

- Beute - German use
- Trophy - Soviet use
- Captured - US use

Editor support

- Manual texmod + digit control.
- Optional digit_folder = no_numbers to remove tactical markings (Editor only).

What GOH Update 60 changed

- Texmods in Conquest: you can now select your custom texture per unit and the game saves it for the battle (and across missions).

- This means the mod now works natively in Conquest — no CPS required there.

Current limitation (Enumerators in Conquest)

- Conquest does not let you disable enumerators per custom texmod yet.

- The only workaround is to disable enumerators globally, which also removes markings from enemy tanks — not ideal for captured/beute skins.

- I’ve documented tests and workarounds; once Conquest supports per-unit/per-texmod enumerators, this mod will “close the loop” for fully authentic captured vehicles.

We’ve detailed these issues in Technical_Limitations.txt. If you’re a modder or dev, we invite you to help improve this!

Using the Mod in Other Game Modes

- For Skirmish, local multiplayer, etc., skin selection still requires Change Paint Scheme.

- Follow the step-by-step guide in:

Feedback & requests

Enjoying the mod? Leave a comment!
Got a specific captured vehicle/marking you’d like? Tell me and I’ll try to prioritize it.

Players and modders welcome!

If you want proper captured skins in Conquest, please support the request to enable enumerators in Conquest: without saving/applying the chosen enumerator on spawn, captured skins can’t maintain authentic markings (or “no numbers”) consistently.

Modders, your technical knowledge is invaluable — every workaround or insight helps.

If you want enumerators per-texmod in Conquest too, please Join the CTA – Gates of Hell Discord server:

Once inside, head to #feedback → “Enable Enumerators in Conquest” to join the discussion and share your ideas.

📢 And don’t forget: post your thoughts here on Steam as well — community feedback in the comments helps keep this project alive!

In addition to what he said there's also images of US captured 251 halftracks, a couple Panthers that I think historically were British captured but had US style white stars painted on and even a rare 234/3 was captured and ridden on. It appears from the images I've seen as well that the 83rd Infantry Division had a thing for putting USA on kinda blocky letters onto their German captures

tysm for the King Tiger! But may I also request the StuG III and a Tiger I for captured since according to the wikipedia they are captured by the US as well? Again thank you for your work

another question, do you plan on adding skins for more early war vehicles too, since most of these are later in the war (and tech tree)

@rainbowpeanut1119, Thanks to your question, in the next updates I will keep an updated list in the mod folder.

@shadowghost64, Your wish has been granted. 4 captured King Tiger skins await you.

do you have a list somewhere of all the tanks that have captured paint schemes?

@Gakusei I’ve already researched all these vehicles. I work with primary sources (WWII photos) and verify every marking and color. It just takes time to produce even one skin (base variant + damaged state + destroyed state), and the same goes for winter camouflage/winterized versions. Later, I plan to include some Beute camouflage schemes. These are unique and field-applied, and they’re very complex to represent on a texture—mainly seen on T-34 variants and Sherman variants used by the Germans.

Should we expect captured vehicle skins from you? Namely:
1) BA-20 (German and Finnish);
2) FAI-M (Finnish);
3) BA-6 (German);
4) T-26 (German);
5) KV-2 (German);
6) Churchill (German);
7) Sherman variants (German);
8) T-20 Komsomolets (German);
9) BT-5 and T-37A (German) (they are in the game, but are only used in a couple of missions);
10) BT-7 (German);
11) M3 Lee (German);
12) ZIS-2 and 3 anti-tank guns (German);
13) Pz III (Soviet);
14) Stug III (Soviet);
15) SU-85 (German).

@shadowghost64 :) I have already researched and have the pictures of the original vehicle. The markings were big white stars on a red or olive green background (pieces of sack material). If I have some free time, I will do it today or tomorrow.

@Prkl8r , for Conquest just go into the Conquest menu → Army → select the vehicle → Specifications (Appearance dropdown) and choose the texture you want.
If I’ve made a beute / captured / trophy skin for that unit, it will appear automatically in that list when you capture the vehicle. For Now this is the complete list of the skins available: BEUTE = T-34 M1941, KV-1 M1940, KV-1E, T-70M M1943, T-34 M1942, KV-1 M1939, BA-10, IS-2 M1943, IS-2 M1944, T-34-85 M1944 and finished also OT-34-85 (Flame) (available in the next update) . TROPHY = Pz.Kpfw Panther Ausf.A
