FXAA Shader

For some reason camera addons (I checked on this and this ) have weird compatibility with this shader, zooming/moving camera image.
Енот Хак 17 Sep @ 6:47am
Ah dang it... Okay. I'll just stick to SMAA then.

Changing #define only works when compiling the shader. If you want to customize the FXAA parameters, you can compile a couple dozen versions, but that won't stop FXAA from being FXAA.

@Енот Хак
FXAA has no settings
Енот Хак 14 Sep @ 11:42am
Can you include more settings? I wanna tinker with this.

Does "comparison mode" works for you? Does the red line following the cursor appear?
Ambatunissan 5 Sep @ 9:32am
MSAA is already off long time ago, including control panel from my AMD. Legit.
Evgeny Akabenko  [author] 5 Sep @ 9:31am
If MSAA is already enabled and there are no "jaggies", then FXAA will have nothing to work with, since the image is already anti-aliased.
Evgeny Akabenko  [author] 5 Sep @ 9:31am
And one more thing. Do you have MSAA turned off? Do you have "jaggies" on the screen? Is there anything at all for FXAA to work with? Or do you have jaggies, but NO jaggies disappear after you turn on FXAA?
Evgeny Akabenko  [author] 5 Sep @ 9:30am
@Ambatunissan
Updated, changed the vs20 shader model to vs30. Check if it works. Does "comparison mode" turn on for you? If the C-menu is open, the comparison mode will follow the cursor, you will be able to compare the changes. Can you at least see this on the screen? Or does nothing work for you at all?
Ambatunissan 5 Sep @ 9:08am
even I already turn on, still doesn't work at all.
Evgeny Akabenko  [author] 5 Sep @ 9:05am
Do you have FXAA working?
Evgeny Akabenko  [author] 5 Sep @ 9:02am
You don't get it. The shader was written by Timothy Lottes, a NVIDIA developer. I say that if you have questions about the algorithm, read the PAPER from NVIDIA: https://developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/gamedev/files/sdk/11/FXAA_WhitePaper.pdf

The fact that the algorithm was written by an NVIDIA developer does not mean that it will not work on AMD or INTEL. :buckshotlive::buckshotlive::buckshotlive::buckshotlive::buckshotlive:
Ambatunissan 5 Sep @ 8:13am
oh only Nvidia (sadge). I thought it's for all GPUs bro. That's why AMD & Intel GPUs aren't working for this mod.
Evgeny Akabenko  [author] 5 Sep @ 7:30am
P.S. FXAA is hardcoded, it does not require settings. More details in the documentation from NVIDIA. :spycon:

Added Comparison mode
Ambatunissan 4 Sep @ 6:21am
I was waiting for this new update for feature fxaa settings like SMAA one. I love this comparison, but this mod needs to get job done slowly.
UltraFormula1 3 Sep @ 1:37am
I mean performance-wise, because obviously FXAA looks like sh!t no matter how well you implement it (not your fault, it's just how it is)
UltraFormula1 3 Sep @ 1:19am
How does this compare with your SMAA filter?
Havok® 1 Sep @ 4:54pm
the reason why you guys dont see much of a difference is because fxaa is literally the WORST implementation of anti-aliasing in shader history :steamsad:
all it does is just blur everything for a "smoother image"

Badger Monkey, no not at all. Gmod doesnt use Ray tracing. neither does this shader
Badger Monkey 29 Aug @ 8:44pm
Does this require RTX at all?
John Burger 29 Aug @ 6:02am
guys in the images u can see the difference there is much less aliasing and the edges are smoother

What don't you like about the maximum settings of a game from 2006? Or can't the gtx 480 handle even that???
Electric Blood Mage 27 Aug @ 10:54am
Probably should show a more close-up example in an image of a before and after so people realize there is a difference.

I just hope this thing works on Linux. I WANT this.
Mal0 25 Aug @ 12:39pm
Any chance of TAA with motion vectors or is that out of scope?
Toad Howard 25 Aug @ 9:22am
@tsaa, Yes, it does. but this was hard to notice differences with both SMAA & FXAA shaders enabled for me.
еwd 25 Aug @ 8:43am
Alex, road is already finished since we have ray tracing in gmod lol
