@StolenByte Unfortunately, if you want to do things beyond modifying XML files, you’ll need something like BepInEx until the devs add more support for modding. The XML files in the game mostly control things like stack sizes, mining yield, starting conditions, ore spawning, and a few other aspects but really, it’s not much.

I agree that tools like BepInEx and StationeersLaunchPad shouldn’t be necessary, but currently, BepInEx is required to create mods like this. StationeersLaunchPad automatically loads workshop items into BepInEx, so users don’t need to deal with files after the initial installation. It also auto-updates, and as far as I know, StationeersLaunchPad wouldn’t be broken by an update.

The problem with loaders is that when game updating, in addition to the mod itself, the loader may also fail, which leads to the "working" build appearing later.

@StolenByte everyone always says this about modding plugins, as if by installing the modding engine they'll magically become some kind of scumbag and install all the cheaty mods. You're completely ignoring the fact that you still control what mods you install, and you are the sole arbiter of what counts as cheating and what doesn't. Also, you do realize the dev console is always enabled by default in your singleplayer saves, right? man, what a huge "cheat gateway" that is...

@IAmTheRealBeef i refuse to use BepInEx at all :) feels like too much of a cheat gateway.

@StolenByte Many mods use Stationeers Launchpad just to load the mods from workshop - BepInEx is the big requirement for custom assets or scripts. If you want, for most mods using SLP you can manually copy mods from their github repos or workshop folder to your BepInEx plugins folder ... but it is more complex and less convenient compared to using SLP.

@Gariot signs already have a indicator. There is a bar in BP and built stage on the bottom:

Ugh, why is it every useful mod, no matter how small, requires SLP :(
Is the default modding support really that bad? (havn't looked into it)
Such a shame, this is needed BADLY, especially with those "lined" glass windows :P

May i suggest to add signs? Its hard to tell if they are upside down or not :D

Can we please have this in the base game. It is unreal how annoying it is to make sure the lines on iron windows are pointing the same way.

Honestly the best mod for the game. <3

Delphinus_Keya It should be working for windows as far as I know if not please let me know.
Dani 27 Aug @ 3:36pm
I don't understand why this hasn't been implemented in the base game.
It has been requested for ages but developers have better things to do like removing world settings and other annoying stuff.
Delphinus_Keya 27 Aug @ 12:13pm
I need this for the windows as I always screw up the directions
