Thanks so much! And if it's not too much trouble, maybe let them choose the best bed when they set up camp. There is a mod that is supposed to do something similar, but it does not solve this particular issue, but maybe you can look at their code and find something useful. Auto-assign Inventories on Caravan arrival.

@VitaKaninen ~ Ah ok, thank you for the video, that's extremely helpful. So what I can see is those errors are it trying to find the uninstalled bed, and that it got the bed and not the bedroll in it's inventory ^.^ Yeah, I can fix that issue

Probably the biggest issue is that it causes errors if I make them manually swap beds. They keep looking for a specific bed, and when it is no longer available, they enter an endless loop of standing and looking for it. This is caused by the issue of them choosing the wrong bed to begin with, and me trying to fix it by giving them the better bed.

I recorded a quick clip chowing the issue, and in this case, they were able to recover from the problem once they found the bed again. However, in a larger caravan, and with multiple beds, they will often not recover from the problem until they change maps or return home. If you ever permanently settle on a hostile map and this happens, then your map will be useless for that pawn, and they may never get over it. I have had to resort to unloading the pawn via character editor and loading them back in, to break the cycle.

And just to confirm, the main issue is that it's taking bad beds or bedrolls, instead of using (higher quality) bedrolls and tents over everything else?

I have a consistent issue where I will send a caravan with beds and bedrolls or tents together in the same caravan. When I set up camp or enter a tile, my pawns are given beds in their inventory instead of bedrolls or tents. This is problematic because there is a larger penalty for using a bed outdoors vs a bedroll or tent. It is especially problematic when I loot a settlement, and I am carrying around awful stone beds, and I have legendary tents in my caravan, and they choose the awful stone beds.

In addition to that, if I catch them doing it, and want them to switch to better bed/tent, I can tell them to uninstall or drop the bed, and then go pick up a tent or bedroll, or install in it and assign it to them, and this puts them in a standing state with ticking errors until they leave the map. Sometimes it persists for days, and I have to manually tell them to sleep each night even after they get back home.

Hi, could this mod be the reason my pawns turned into pack animals? When sending a caravan, they fill their inventory with everything.

Haven't tested just the 2 mods so it still could be something else (eg. common sense); debugging a game you simply want to relax and play leads to heavy burnout over the years (been here since A3!).

When it happens again I'll see if I can get a save where it's reproduceable and try from there.

Possible compatibility issue with PUAH; colonist will randomly stand there with a "10 jobs in 1 tick" error in regards to using their bedroll (jobGiver=UseBedrolls.JobGiver_TakeBedBack). Tried to workaround it a few ways but was never successful, had to get them to leave the map. Happens about 1-3 caravan trips.

I thiiiiink I remember this back in 1.4, but it's been over a year so hard to say.

I don't know if you picking up the torch means you can also further develop the mods and fix issues, but, well, the game is still frustrating without these mods despite all the improvements over the years. Honestly utterly baffling why this isn't vanilla yet.

Hey Meme Goddess, sorry to annoy you so quickly again - but now that we figured out how to reproduce that weird Loading Progression issue I got back to finish up my modpack.

It contains tents, which make the pawn not consider the bed outside. I see the description says it would work with any beds (and I guess these are considered beds), though it also says pawns will try to get indoors with it, while tents in itself are indoors.

@Yinyang107 ~ Wait, are you saying that when they go somewhere in the gravship, you've got beds in there as well? And it's setting that bed as their new one?

Or does it remember which bed is theirs if that bed is on a gravship and leaves to a new area?

If it's the first one, then yeah, it's a bed. It only does the remembering when it's a bedroll that you're using

@Meme Goddess, now that I've used this for a while, looks like it doesn't, since the beds on the Gravship stay claimed when it returns home they don't go back to their normal bedrooms.

Logged an issue on the GitHub for the bedrolls not being usable in a vacuum. Will get to it when I have time ^.^

Having the same issue as Wicked and Dumedag. They will not use bedroll in a vacuum, they pickup bedroll and sleep on ground. would also like to request a feature if possible. an overnight stay outdoors was fine while using the long range mineral scanner. However now im spending days at a location exploring/hacking and would like to avoid the outdoors debuff. would like it if i created a home zone on a map, colonist would opt to use bedroll in a home zone.

Thanks for updating the mod. I found a bug when trying to use bedrolls while in a satellite in space. They will just place the bedrolls on the floor, then immediately pick them back up. It will just be that cycle forever, they never do sleep in the bedroll.

@Flamangos Just looked it up, I only see a 1.6 update for this mod. Not another continued version. You can basically consider this one the official version, and the other one a temp mod that was just for 1.6. This version will be getting updates and support for many years to come ^.^

By pure chance, I discovered that this was probably exactly the opposite:
The mod 'Keep Bed Ownership' didn't work with sleeping bags.
(I was confused by the fact that bed-keeping is mentioned in this mod's description.)
I'm still not sure, as it has been a while.

As this mod is outdated anyway, it won't be an issue.
I have, however, just subscribed to 'Sensible Bed Ownership'.
I'm not sure if I'll activate the mod immediately, but I'll definitely inform you if any conflicts show up.

Are you aware of any mod incompatibilities?
Does it work with 'Hospitality'?

I *think* I subscribed to this useful mod once, but dropped it later due to some issues related to a more important mod (at this time).
