The mechanic works the same as it does for Germany, though unlike Germany you don't attain cultural union when you abolish it since its still a different culture group
Antagonist 27 Aug @ 11:28pm
How does the cultural integration mechanic work? is there something outside taking the decision you need to do or do you wait and it just happens naturally?

Hi again, I have a question about the Tier 1 Shogunate reform granted upon uniting Japan.
At first I thought you could have Daimyos like the Shogunate you have by playing Ashikaga, but I was wondering if adding the possibilty to make Daimyos is in your plans ?

I know that is would make Japan a lot stronger, but in reality.. That's something already doable byt Ashikaga, so.. Why not granting the ability once Japan is formed ? Theoretically, nothing was preventing the Japanese Shogunate to vassalize into Daimyos other countries around it.
I don't know, I think that it could be something players would enjoy, instead of choosing to not reform into Japan to be able to create endless Daimyos.

What do you think about it ?
Silver K. 23 Aug @ 8:32am
I see, well, if one day you find your way in the map editing thing, I hope you'll still be working on this mod and taht you'll add some provinces.

Anyway, what do you think about the expanded family mods ? Is there a way to make some of them compatible ? Like Flavor & Events or Government ? I don't the Government for now because your mod is proposing something that would create a conflict or simlply not working.
I still use the Flavor & Event as there are many many event that are pretty cool to see. Of course there's some that are a pain x) But if it's possible to have some compatibility, I think it would be great.

I also hope someone will add some provinces and come to you to make a compatibility tho.
Thanks for the reply !
skoobeldoobel  [author] 23 Aug @ 6:54am
@Silver K. I wouldn't be opposed to adding more provinces, but unfortunately I know nothing of map editing, so it's probably not happening. Someone could make a submod though
skoobeldoobel  [author] 23 Aug @ 6:51am
Fixed the cultural conversion issue with colonized provinces (apparently it was actually my fault! lol). Also fixed a monument having the wrong modifier.

@aaro.halme Thanks for notifying. Both the mission and the name-change thing has been fixed.
Silver K. 22 Aug @ 9:50am
Hi, the mod is great ! But I have a question, will you had some more provinces ? Like something between 10 and 15 ? I think that could be a great idea to the mod
You could add maybe 5-6 Daimyos by doing so and giving us a greater experience of your mod

I hope that something you would consider making, I found mods about adding some provinces to japan while excluding everything else but unfortunately, it's always outdated and some of them are bugged.. There also are mods that ad some provinces but it's for the whole world.

Anyway, great work ! I hope this mod will not be discontinued !
aaro.halme 20 Aug @ 7:23am
Found a few bugs aside from the colony one (though even trade company colonies that should become your culture due to low native pop just don't). The mission "Dominate Southeast Asia" doesn't work even when you control all of the region and the mission marker doesn't take you to missing provinces either, the adjective of the Empire of Japan is "Japan-Empire-ADJ (Region here)", and the shogunate country name is overruled by the one given in Pacific Hegemon.
Thunderous 13 Aug @ 3:28pm
This looks cool, never played Japan since the domination so when you finish this I'm looking forward to finally playing it again (Also +1 to that one comment talking about Kono Japan not being blue, blue japan is based).
skoobeldoobel  [author] 13 Aug @ 11:24am
@Balthasar Gelt Yeah, another guy mentioned something like this too, and I assumed he was talking about trade companies, but if it's happening in the new world as well then it it's definitely an an issue. It'd odd though, because I don't think the mod touches on anything that should affect this. I'll look into it when I have the time.

@Masterboss The ship durability definitely shouldn't be there (it was from a previous idea I had for the monument that I forgot to remove). I'll eventually get to updating the mod, and also adding in a list of the reforms since people are asking for it.

@Stacks I'm not really too interested in uploading multiple versions of the mod. However, you can just go into the files and delete the monuments file from the 'great_projects' folder and it'll work perfectly fine
Balthasar Gelt 12 Aug @ 6:47pm
I know it doesnt automatically work in trade company regions but this is happening in the new world.
Balthasar Gelt 12 Aug @ 6:46pm
there is a problem with colonizing in cololonial regions right now when you colonize in said region instead of it automatically converting its not. even if I murder every native under the sun it wont work
Stacks 12 Aug @ 2:05am
Any chance we could have a version without monuments for compatibility?
FranzStigler1 10 Aug @ 11:18am
Also a detailed list of everything would be great
It is very tedious to look through everything
Otherwise the mod is very nice
FranzStigler1 10 Aug @ 10:22am
Kono Japan sadly doesn't keep the nice blue while Shimazu formed Japan retains its purple which is very unfortunate.
Masterboss 5 Aug @ 5:49pm
Good work, i am enjoying my gameplay as a fellow japan enjoyer. My main note is maybe it could use some overtuning, it isn't supposed to be multipalyer balanced after all, but thats a personal choice of course. I would like to see an easier way to see exclusive government reforms for daimyos as well, sine it would be almost impossible to play every single one of them to see what does each of them offer. One last question. Monument in awa seems broken? First level gives ship duraiblity but other levels seem not to. If it's intentional i would like to learn the reason behind it.
BetterBite 2 Aug @ 3:19pm
Managed to check, it has worked, thank you very much

Only minor details is the renaming to "The Shogunate" doesn't happen and it immediately abolishes the new reform letting you switch to any other T1 reform including itself but otherwise it has worked thank you again
BetterBite 2 Aug @ 1:40pm
@skoobeldoobel That was it? Oh god its giving me HOI4 modding flashbacks...
skoobeldoobel  [author] 2 Aug @ 11:10am
@BetterBite Yeah, there seemed to be a simple oversight in the code from the original 'integrated japan missions' that this mod is based on, which made it so that you needed 100 absolutism AND 6 privileges for each estate to get shogunate reform (which is probably impossible), rather than having 100 absolutism and NOT having 6 privileges. Fixed now, and thanks again
BetterBite 2 Aug @ 8:32am
Additionally, Im pretty sure this bug is also present in Vanilla because i encountered it before, but for some insane reason when you complete the Balance of Power mission on the Shogunate side, it will always default to the Emperor rewards even if you don't fulfill the requirements, and this is after become emperor of china and this happens even with just this mod enabled, I don't know if my version of the game is cursed with the correct checksum but buggy mission or if it truly is the fault of being Emperor, still happens in Vanilla, havent been able to test if it occurs if you aren't emperor of china. Maybe you have some clue about why this is happening and how to fix it because to figure out why the hell the Emperor rewards were firing when it was physically impossible to gave me a headache
BetterBite 2 Aug @ 6:47am
Forgot to mention about the native mechanic, while yeah its true, its only for trade company regions while colonial regions (new world and Australia) will convert to your culture and religion, however after that update, the colony will not convert even for provinces which have no natives at all (and are of no culture and no religion like the Indian ocean islands)

I'll probably have to do some more investigative journalism to determine if its truly the cause of this mod (I have other mods but neither should have any effect on colonies ((and they have worked before you made the update)) but it might just be a random compat issue that arose)

Thanks for the update, the other issues seem to be fixed
skoobeldoobel  [author] 1 Aug @ 2:39pm
@BetterBite Thanks for notifying, just pushed an update that hopefully fixes the issues. Though the last thing you pointed out is a vanilla mechanic (if there's too many natives in a province, they won't convert).
Also, if you want to get the province modifier from examination system without having to back through your saves, typing "mission = mng_examination_system" into the console will fix it.
BetterBite 1 Aug @ 8:10am
Played with the new changes
There are some bugs:
- The reward for the Examination System mission giving the province modifier doesn't work
- Forbidden City monument is inaccessible to Celestial Regency
- Modifiers for owning and not controlling Canton, Beijing, and Nanking don't seem to be present
- Modifier giving mandate when using Unify China CB is not present
- Also for some reason colonies in colonial regions no longer auto convert to owner culture and religion?
Would be cool to add more events to get famous Daimyo as leaders or generals for different tags, like Kenshin for Uesugi or Takeda Shingen.
Sungseon 30 Jul @ 3:05pm
does it add new province
skoobeldoobel  [author] 30 Jul @ 11:23am
New update which includes unique Tier 1 Emperor of China reforms for Japan, as well as a Tier 2 reform which functions as a quasi-disaster, allowing you to integrate Chinese cultures as the Emperor of China. I believe I've tested the update well enough, but if I missed something, do tell.
KatherineFtw 29 Jul @ 1:48pm
Can we get a version of this with infinite mission rewards?
skoobeldoobel  [author] 28 Jul @ 4:08am
@Defence of the patience 2 For some reason I thought the EoC and its reform was hardcoded, so I was going to say no. But I looked it up, and it seems like it is actually moddable (odd that I've never actually seen anyone touch it before), so I probably will do something like you mention. At a bare minimum I'll try and make it so that the final unique reforms you can get as Japan gets a EoC equivalent

@2000wires Nothing that wasn't present in the vanilla content (there's events and a mission that gives you a unique reform + nation name). I'm not opposed to adding something more in the future, but its unlikely ngl
Defence of the patience 2 28 Jul @ 2:59am
Interesting looking mod, will give it a go once i've patched it with my load order. If i could make a suggestion (without playing it , always a risky move lol) one thing i thought japan lacked was a unique government for becoming emperor of china - like a unique t1 alternative to celestial empire that represents how monumental a change in political direction this would be for the region.
Serena Tech Priest 26 Jul @ 9:04pm
@buyBread they dident demand, they asked a bit jokingly what you were referring to historically. and why are you suddenly pivoting to the semantics of rework vs expanded when neither would really fit what your asking for, which is significantly altering everything beyond recognition, a remake. You original issue still has little to do with the mod itself, and more with paradox. I can get being frustrated with historical innaccuracy, but if you read the mod description it makes it pretty clear what it does.
2000wires 25 Jul @ 11:49pm
Haven't played Japan in vanilla much myself, if at all, but is there mission tree content for "kristian" Japan in either vanilla or this mod? I know there's an achievement for it, but I don't know much else.
skoobeldoobel  [author] 25 Jul @ 10:25am
@Raidanite I never did the imperial path myself, but doing a quick check, it seems to have its unique imperial titles. Maybe paradox fixed it at some point, or I accidentally did it myself lol
Sebas 25 Jul @ 9:57am
@buyBread ..... this is a mod.... YOU... DONT... NEED... TO ... DOWNLOAD... IT! Holy shit, I just lost brain cells witnessing this utter baffoon trying and thinking a point was being made. This is a feckin mod, no one is forcing you to do sh!t besides you yourself torturing YOURSELF by being such an a$$ about this for no reason. Kindly, stop watching anime and go outside.

To the mod creator, genuinely don't answer to that person anymore. And a great looking mod! Will def try out! :dadjoseph: :coolstar2022:
Raidanite 25 Jul @ 4:42am
is restoration of the imperial family also in this mod? no more shogun yamato?? planning to play as yamato japan soon hehe
somebody 11112 24 Jul @ 1:38pm
@skoobeldoobel I think this mod is great! i hope you continue to make awesome mods!

@buyBread go outside:captainclown:
buyBread 24 Jul @ 1:21pm
@skoobeldoobel all I'm hearing is that you're conjuring up narratives to not feel insulted by non-positive comments. Fact: you suffixed "Japan" with "Rework". A lot of what you added is flavor fluff, the only "rework" here is the mission tree. The claim to have "reworked" an entire region of the game is a very tall statement that wasn't fulfilled as per what's expected in modern EU4 modding, i.e. new or improved systems and mechanics to interact with. This mod is very much an "Expanded" type of ordeal that does little in terms of new gameplay. So yes, me saying that the semantics of the title are wrong is being met with "well I don't agree and you sound very pressed, relax plox". If you really don't agree, then just say so and either elaborate or end the statement. Like, you realize I'm only replying because you're extending the conversation yourself, right? Like, my initial comment was just a snarky observation that you then demanded an elaboration on.
skoobeldoobel  [author] 24 Jul @ 12:57pm
@buyBread What you are describing is a remake, not a rework. You can literally just look up the definition of the word 'remake': "to make changes to the original version of (something)." How is this not an accurate description of this mod lol.
The only thing you've "calmly informed me" of is that I'm:
- Butchering the region
- Doing nothing but adding "shiny buttons"
- Purposefully misleading people for clicks
- And apparently I'm now "making it all about myself"
I wouldn't call this "calm". I'd call it being aggressive and hostile for no reason.
buyBread 24 Jul @ 11:59am
@skoobeldoobel I'm pretty calmly informing you how and why you this isn't a "rework", but sure, let's make it about ourselves and not the mod at hand.
skoobeldoobel  [author] 24 Jul @ 11:57am
@buyBread But it is a rework lol. Just because you don't like what has been reworked, doesn't make that not true. You really need to relax
buyBread 24 Jul @ 11:52am
@skoobeldoobel then name it correctly? If you're not doing anything new, when it is definitely possible to represent the political reality of Japan with EU4's current modding capabilities (see Anbennar's systems), then why name it a "rework"? What are you "reworking"? Just call it "Japan Expanded" or whatever. Title semantics is pretty important, given how you're generating clicks off apparently "reworking" Japan, when it's just a run of the mill EU4 experience with a bit more flavor fluff.
skoobeldoobel  [author] 24 Jul @ 11:44am
@buyBread Literally all the gripes you have come from the content paradox created, not from this mod, so it's very much an eu4 problem you have. If you want to whine about the historical accuracy, which I won't dispute, you can do so to the devs on the paradox forum. Nowhere in the mod description does it mention this was meant to be an ultra-historical ground-up remake of the entire Japanese region and its content. The scope of the mod is pretty clear, and its just reworking and expanding upon the stuff that is already there, in the style of modern immersion packs and other flavor mods
buyBread 24 Jul @ 11:24am
(2/2) The problem with that? You have to ignore the fact that for 2/3s of that supposed "shogunal rule", the shogun held jack shit in terms of authority himself, because he wasn't the head of state until the Tokugawa made him into one. Before the Tokugawa took over, I can really only point to Minamoto no Yoritomo(!!) as the only other Shogun that had tangible authority. Seriously, I'm not complaining about a province belonging to the wrong TAG, I'm pointing out that your "rework" doesn't do anything for Japan in EU4, just adds more shiny buttons to click with no real enhancements.
buyBread 24 Jul @ 11:24am
(1/2) @skoobeldoobel milking the "if you're looking for historical accuracy, EU4 is not the game for you" meme really stretches how much you can forgive the butchering of an entire region's political situation. There is no such thing as a "shogunate", neither as a continuous, nor an individual series of standalone state projects. At best, the word is a huge misnomer for lumping together numerous different governments into one abomination of a "timeframe". The only time it can be really used is in reference to the Tokugawa-amended state of affairs. The previous two "shogunates" are merely historical fiction created in the Meiji era to conjure up legitimacy of a supposed "return to normalcy" after ~700 years of shogunal rule.
skoobeldoobel  [author] 24 Jul @ 8:15am
@buyBread If you're looking for historical accuracy, eu4 is not the game for you. Also what does 'myth of the shogunate' even mean lol
Shrike10011 24 Jul @ 8:02am
Hey buyBread, did he ever say that this mod is historically accurate? No? Then stop complaining.
buyBread 24 Jul @ 7:23am
so in short, you've just further reinforced the historical meiji manufactured myth of the "shogunate" instead of reworking the region into anything even remotely close to real japan
bat557 23 Jul @ 5:20am
your great at making mods
Scripts 23 Jul @ 2:10am
