Rumor is Gabe and the Valve team visiting Turtle Rock at the time played the version which has all these cut abilities, they got whooped hard and are unhappy with that version, so all these abilities got cut.

I understand why it was cut. Seems a bit too sci fi for a game that takes place in 2009. Dont know how the green flu made Simon Henriksson develop optic camo.

Still, its a fun concept that fits with the sneaky role of the hunter.
Though personally i think it would work better if the invisiblity was a passive while running (as the hunter is already silent then) and that he would turn visible while charging a pounce (it would fit well with the default design of the warning sounds).

A bit off-topic but I'm curious. In the demonstration video, what mod are you using to use thirdperson mode in VS when playing as infected?
I tried playing with sv_cheats 1 and thirdperson (and my choice thirdpersonshoulder) commands don't work in versus gamemodes for me.

Why not make him invisible when he's walking but when he crouch he'll reveal himself? It's a good pair with hunter fix by geebe

EPIC, another mod based off the beta, btw witch, the hunter in the early development of 4d1 2005 or 2006, had the ability to get off the survivors after pouncing on them and another ability I think the hunter was supposed to have was a healing ability or sum :P

if you happen to have left 4 bots 2, maybe try turning off the "manual attack" setting. Even then it won't be perfect since the bots are heavily rewired with that mod so they may still shove you when they aren't supposed to see you.

Should add some kind of shader effect to make the invisibility look cooler. No idea if this is even possible. This definitely adds more to the game in a good way
