Majid slashed John in the nose, leaving a horrific wound.

John tried to save another colonist from Majid's berserk rage. This incident happened because Majid was from a different colony who believed in violent proselytism.

thanks for the great mod. One thing I noticed is if my pawns get injured in an underground location (e.g. stockpiles by wasp traps) they don't remember that a wasp trap did that. But they remember the injury was caused by the wasp stinger, so really not a big deal.

also I don't agree with the name of whoever injured the pawn being forgotten, if you want to rp they don't remember then just do that...lol

@everyone requesting the feature that the pawns faction and class is shown additionally or instead of the name, or after some time, etc.: I also think that it would be usefull, but it is somewhat more involved to implement than what the mod does so far. I will see what I can do, but I can't promise anything.

Yes 100% if we can have it say what type of pawn they were and from which faction, that is infinitely more useful than a name. Maybe keep the name if it's one of your colonists as you will likely remember who they are (or were) a lot easier. But I am not going to remember who John Rimworld is, what faction he was, or what happened.

i'd also like that in a roleplay sense cause i dont think after a year you'll remember the exact name of the person who injured you, more just "A Pigskin Rebellion Raider bit off my ear two years ago."

Asking for a feature/option:

After some amount of time, like a year, replace the specific name of the enemy pawn with their faction's name + their 'pawn kind' eg pirate gunner. This standardizes it with bugs & mechs, where you always understand 'a lancer shot their nose off 1.3 years ago'

So instead of 'random pawn name you don't remember much about' you get (name of specific pirate faction)'s scavenger gunner destroyed their eye, letting you remember who to raid in revenge much easier.

Thanks for making it in the first place, I'm not a modmaker so I can't ever guess how difficult this would be.

@jpinard, I don't think this mod should cause a performance hit: The patched code only runs while you are actively hovering the mouse over a hediff to see the tooltip.
Maybe some other display mod for the hediffs might call it more frequently causing a performance problem, I am not sure. But also the modded code is not very different from what the base game does when showing a battle log entry, no potentially inefficient algorithm was added there or anything.

@Cleric_McManus, I don't think it would be down to load order if other hediffs do show the info. Probably your shadow magic mod doesn't add a battle log entry to the hediff. There's not really anything that this mod could do about that.
That by the way also happens for at least the wasp traps and maybe some other enemies added with Odysee: They don't add a battle log entry (which I would consider a game bug). Maybe I can do something about that one because it is vanilla content.

@tixiv I use Rimworld of Magic and I used shadow magic on a pawn that I was able to save. That pawn now has a withered left hand, but it doesn't provide more information on who caused it or how. Is this due to the attack being a non-vanilla ability added by another mod? Or perhaps it's a mod order issue? I have this mod just about at the bottom of my mod order, maybe it needs to be higher?

@Z.E.R.T, To my knowledge it is not in vanilla. Maybe you are confused because vanilla does show battle log entries in hediffs for some time, but vanilla does not:
1. Show them forever (they disappear once they are gone from the battle log)
2. Show when they occurred right in the hediff

heya, nice mod! i have an issue though, the mod is installed and active but it doesn't seem to work right now. it did earlier in this savefile and i haven't added/removed any mods since then. now it just shows "a gunshot wound" and nothing more

When someone has a lot of wounds,health tab will become really really laggy. and tps will reduce to 20-30. Can this be fixed?
