Are slavs coming to the mod anytime soon?
Cheers!
I haven’t done the Lakhmids yet for now, the reskin covers the general desert units and the Garamantes. The only Lakhmid units that have been reskinned are those serving the Sassanids.
I’ll be on summer break from August 12–15 and 17–26. I’ll still check and reply to messages, and plan to release an update on the 16th to finish the Garamantes land units. No hotfix updates will be possible until after August 26. Have a great summer!
Hi, first of all, thank you very much for your feedback, it really makes me want to keep going with the work.
As for the LOD issues, I’m unfortunately well aware of the various problems, the disappearance of entire units is, I have to say, really annoying. But I need to finish all the factions before I can tackle this problem. Why? Because I work by creating models and constantly tweaking and reworking variantmeshes. Sometimes I end up modifying or reworking meshes I’ve already made, and the problem is that I’d have to re-import the LOD imposters for each tweak. Needless to say, that would waste way too much time.
So here’s the plan: once everything has been reskinned and the mod is stable from an artistic standpoint, I’ll be able to fix all the LODs. For that, you’ll have to wait a few months. I hope you can be patient :)
As for regional characteristics, I believe I’ve done my best while taking into account the great multiculturalism of the era. Armenians wear Roman and mountain equipment in addition to Eastern gear. The Franks, having long served as auxiliaries for Rome by this period, have equipment reflecting their high level of Romanization.
I like your mod so much, keep the awesome work up 🙌🏻
Yes, the goal is to reskin all units of every faction, including generals, agents, and civilians.
Thank you !
Yes, unfortunately it's a problem I know the origin of, but fixing it will take A LOT of time. BUT it will be fixed. Don’t expect a patch for this before several months.
So there are several sources supporting this choice, and they all trace back to Dura Europos.
More broadly, I was looking for ways to visually distinguish the heavy units of the Eastern and Western Roman Empires without relying on helmets that look too Sassanid. There’s also an artistic decision behind it: I wanted to give the Eastern Empire a slightly more "“medieval”" feeling to reflect its transition into the next era. The scale coif — in this case represented by a mail coif (since I don’t have other models) — is meant to symbolize that shift toward the Middle Ages.
