there is no landless option in my base game
SemperFudge 27 Sep @ 3:33pm
Are you able to play as an already existing employed Courtier? Or do you have to create a landless adventurer first then become a courtier?
Bladesworn 20 Sep @ 2:50pm
@SquareBeard Can we expect an update soon?
Spanner360 6 Sep @ 12:08pm
@squareBeard thanks for replying :)
SquareBeard  [author] 6 Sep @ 7:31am
@Spanner360 Roads to Power is highly recommended but (I think) you should technically be able to play without it.

Obviously you wouldn't be an adventurer, but if you play without any titles (using the Really Landless mod) you can join people's court that way.
Spanner360 6 Sep @ 4:15am
do i need any DLC to play this mod?
SquareBeard  [author] 3 Sep @ 10:11am
@Grôle if you mean continuing as a child after playing as an adventurer/truly landless character, then not easily.

If you open the Really Landless mod folder, you can delete the contents of the decisions/interactions/casus belli folders in "common" (except those you want, perhaps "switch character") and in my experience that works fine.

There's a small edit in one of the other folders that prevents the game over screen, and that's all you really need.
Kaeternn 2 Sep @ 12:46pm
Hi, I don't want to play with Really landless because of many indesirable features, how can I play my child after my death easily without it ?
SquareBeard  [author] 2 Sep @ 9:52am
@Michigan Mayor without any titles you can be treated like an ai in some instances, so stuff like that may happen. You should have an interaction to add family to your current court which if you do quickly could fix your situation.

@Оральный блендер as a truly landless character you don't get decisions, appears to be a hardcoded thing but will look into it again when I get the time.
IDK, mb this ussue is caused by RFRL, because I can use decisions if I am an adventurer.
@
SquareBeard About LOTR mod ussue. I just cant use any decisions, like the visit the court.
Michigan Mayor 30 Aug @ 6:56am
i found a bug, my character is teleporting around the map randomly lol, he is following his wife around. the solution is when u make a custom ruler, and save it. dont check wife. once u start as an adventurer, even tho there is no option, you still bring your wife. so if you want to load a custom character for an adventure you need to create them as a ruler, keep wife box unchecked, save, then load as an adventure, then play :) idk if you can have a wife untill u get landed or else u teleport
SquareBeard  [author] 18 Aug @ 2:54am
The switch character interaction should actually trigger the same event as the disband camp decision. If you have Really Landless after this in your load order that could be your issue?

To get a barony, there is a system to win the election from a republican liege, otherwise eventually becoming an adventurer trends to be the goal.
Gold 17 Aug @ 5:45pm
@SquareBeard Hi, thanks for the response, but I've already figured out how it's implemented by looking at the code. I think it might be helpful to mention in the description that you need to disband the camp through a decision to properly trigger the initial event. Really Landless adds a "switch character" interaction, which allows you to switch to a landless character, but doesn't trigger the xp event and can be confusing. Otherwise, this is an excellent implementation and work on the game mechanics! I had a really positive experience and am waiting for some kind of system for obtaining a barony as a landless courtier. Thank you so much for your work!
SquareBeard  [author] 17 Aug @ 5:08pm
@Gold normally yes but with this mod installed you should still get some xp (multipliers on the xp gain might not be applied though). Let me know if that's not happening and I can give a console command to maybe fix it.

@Gilgamesh it can be quite lucrative if you have high skills or followers/friends to join the schemes, especially at a high rank court. 150ish gold a year doesn't actually sound too far off what normal contracts could get you though. If others feel the same I can look into reducing the reward or having a cooldown for each service type.
Gilgamesh 16 Aug @ 9:30am
The "Help develop the county, mediate with different vassal types, strategise during an ongoing war, and more" schemes (if successful) gives too much gold to the player since those schemes are trivial to complete. It definitely should be harder to complete those schemes and they should provide less gold per successful scheme. When I played with this mod I was able to rapidly complete the scheme to advise the liege on strategies during their wars. So, I managed to accumulate 1,500+ gold in less than 10 years lol. It was more profitable to be an advisor than a vassal, which didn't make much sense to me.
Gold 16 Aug @ 6:51am
Is it true that when you play as a real landless character, you completely stop gaining lifestyle experience? Maybe I'm missing something, and there's an alternative way to gain experience then?
wsdean93 30 Jul @ 7:51pm
That worked, thanks!
SquareBeard  [author] 30 Jul @ 5:27am
@wsdean93 I think the issue was from having the test version subscribed too. Hopefully fixed now with the update of the test version, let me know.

@Barracuda I'm pretty sure its hard coded unfortunately. Might be able to add another landless interaction with options depending on your stress traits? Otherwise having no titles can be stressful, getting a house or place at court can help.
HopeFriends 29 Jul @ 11:27pm
Thanks a lot
Barracuda 29 Jul @ 9:19pm
Great work on this update! The only thing that would make this better is if you could do Decisions as a Courtier though I believe that is a hard coded issue right? I wish I could have my character work out to lose some stress but I guess you need to be landed to do that
wsdean93 29 Jul @ 7:34pm
So I fired up a quick test game, and I'm not seeing the "Seek Court Employment" interaction either as a landless adventurer or a noble family. I tried loading with just this mod to make sure it wasn't an incompatibility. Is there a requirement I'm missing?
wsdean93 29 Jul @ 6:45pm
Awesome, I'll check it out!
SquareBeard  [author] 29 Jul @ 4:36pm
New update so let me know if anything breaks!

@wsdean93 Noble families can join their liege's court in the new update (sorry it took a while!). There's probably issues (I noticed if you "Resign Governorship" it forces you to leave court). Hopefully we can add some unique contracts/schemes for them in the future too.

@HopeFriends There's an interaction in the new update to launch a coup if truly landless. You'll get an "Upstart Ruler" modifier which is slightly worse than the "Ennobled Adventurer" one

@Meisterstratege für Arme they should work well together.

@Оральный блендер If you mean that the "Liege's Council" tab isnt showing, that's not an issue of LOTR it works the same base-game. It would need me to edit the gui which might cause compatibility issues, but I can tell you how to make the edit yourself if you'd like.

@Nonomori probably something else in your load order?
Meisterstratege für Arme 29 Jul @ 2:15pm
How compatible is Landless Opportunities with "Life of an Adventurer"?

wsdean93 28 Jul @ 7:50pm
I'm still very interested in court roles for Noble Families if you get a chance to add it! Thanks for making the mod, I've been enjoying it a lot.
HopeFriends 25 Jul @ 5:54am
Make it possible to overthrow the overlord, it is impossible to use the event to arrange a conspiracy.
Nonomori 23 Jul @ 4:08pm
Game crashes at start when trying to load with this mod installed.
Bug with the LOTR mod. If u are the counselor at court, u cant interact with the court features.
SquareBeard  [author] 22 Jul @ 5:26am
@Barracuda thanks again for the report. I'd noticed the same thing myself, will try fix the issue soon.

@Barbara Pierdzimąka the requirements for it to show are: you're an adult, you're an adventurer or have no titles at all, and your target is landed. If it's none of those, perhaps check your active playlist/mods again?
Barbara Pierdzimąka 22 Jul @ 1:08am
It doesn't work for me at all. Even if that is the only mod I run it doesn't work, what I mean is that I don't have the options to ''Seek Court Employment'' or ''Attend court'' - there are no such options in decisions. Do I have to meet any requirements for these decisions to be visible and available?
Barracuda 16 Jul @ 2:24pm
I appear to have found a bug. When dueling for you liege after a successful "Preform Champion Duties", the duel takes on the text of a lethal duel instead of a non-lethal. Fortunately the actual outcome does not result in the opponents death just a bit of immersion breaking.
Mods used:
1.Debug Toggle (Less Invasive)
2.Real Freedom - Really Landless
3.Landless Opportunities: Playable Courtiers
4.Active Courtiers

How to reproduce:
Finish a Preform Champion Duties and read the text after a victory. (Or defeat, I always have a high prowess character)
DrakeSteele 16 Jul @ 12:06am
I was about to come and comment "Seems redundant, this is already in the game". Eventually saw I had this already subscribed... So clearly your mod appears to be an essential part of the experience and not a tack-on :)
SquareBeard  [author] 4 Jul @ 5:01am
If you're a landless adventurer and don't have any of the court employment modifiers, and if the target is landed, the interaction should appear (even if tribal/nomadic). You should probably load Really Landless before this but I'm not sure what could be causing the interaction not to show at all for you. Is it showing for other rulers?
BAD ASS SKELETON 3 Jul @ 1:26pm
I'm having a weird issue where I'm not seeing the interaction to join any of my patron's courts. Is it not possible to join a tribal ruler's court, or could it be some sort of mod conflict? I have this mod and Really Landless at the bottom of my load order if that helps any.
Starcomet1 29 Jun @ 10:06am
@SquareBeard I will try it then with the really landless mod! Only issue I have is that the game keeps crashing 5 years into the game. I think it might be the administrative vassal reform mod that might be crashing it. I will make a new game with that turned off and see.
SquareBeard  [author] 29 Jun @ 9:22am
@Starcomet1 if you install Real Freedom - Really Landless you can play completely landless, and this mod adds options to join mercenaries/holy orders/courts (hopefully will have more interesting content in the future). This mod has a "disband camp" decision but you might run into game over screens without Really Landless.

I'll try adding the Request Court interaction for Noble Families then, perhaps adding extra stuff for that specifically in the future.
wsdean93 29 Jun @ 9:09am
It would be great if you could add the advisory functionality to noble families! I would definitely use that.
Starcomet1 29 Jun @ 8:54am
I think the only way to get appointed court chaplain is if liege's religion is lay clergy. Otherwise, you would have to be totally landless with no government type and a courtier to get the position and that might break the game.
Starcomet1 29 Jun @ 7:59am
Noble families can relocate their estate to any county in the kingdom/empire. They can just relocate their estate to the county where they are employed.
SquareBeard  [author] 29 Jun @ 6:49am
@Starcomet1 if it's possible for the ruler to appoint vassals as court chaplain, then it should be possible for you to be appointed too (by requesting council position)?

Noble families can't become advisors atm. I can look into changing that. The only issue I can think of is deciding how you should travel to court from your estate.
Starcomet1 29 Jun @ 5:51am
Also, can noble families become advisors? They are also landless afterall.
Starcomet1 28 Jun @ 8:44pm
It would be nice to become court chaplain in religions that allow temporal appointment and revocation.
SquareBeard  [author] 25 Jun @ 3:24am
@Dagoth thanks for the comment, glad you're enjoying it!

@RadikalCat I think it's pretty clear from the description and title that it's for "landless" characters. If you're using another mod to play without titles then this one's content is probably still accessible, so Roads to Power might not even be needed.
RadikalCat 24 Jun @ 11:30pm
why don't you mention that it requires DLC? wasted hours on figuring out how to use the mod.
Dagoth 24 Jun @ 8:42pm
One of the best mods out there, I use it every run.
pedrolucho 20 Jun @ 12:24am
@squarebeard thanks a lot for your help ! and sorry I didn't check the link on the bottom
SquareBeard  [author] 19 Jun @ 6:10am
Just checked and @Bobibob's translation seems to cover everything, so would recommend. With the new update everything not translated will appear in English.
SquareBeard  [author] 19 Jun @ 5:33am
There's a French translation listed at the bottom of the description that should cover most of the lines, though I'll try and have the remainder show up in English before the end of the day.
pedrolucho 19 Jun @ 5:06am
no I'm playing in French @squarebeards

I thought it would work as I'm using other mods where some interactions are in english even if it's overal in French
