i finished playing the new content, and honestly i think i'm gonna mostly remake this from scratch and upload it as a new mod. this one is jank ideas and implementations built on top of more jank ideas, and it's kind of just too far gone at this point.
some of the good parts (and ones that took me longer to make) will stay, though

the mod is updated!!! i didn't put the salination rework in this update cause it's not done yet but i was getting really self-conscious about the fact i had left the mod in the broken state for almost the entire summer without updating it, so now the update's split into two parts!

i removed that cause it's ugly and had a visual bug with vulture shadows. the epilepsy thing was some extremely fast strobing red lights in the lower rooms with water in them, which i replaced with RedSubmersible light fixtures

On a smaller note, no noodleflies spawn in aether ridge due to the names not having "Needle"/"NeedleWorm" in the world file. Just in case ya didn't check that out.

Also, Fetid Glen is functional enough (as I see it) that I enjoy where ya went with it, even though it doesn't feel dangerous to traverse. And I'm assuming that the staticy background back then was deemed a danger to those with photosensitive epilepsy, is it that or somethin' else?

ah, yeah that requires lediting unfortunately, i didn't change any of the room connections to creature dens (they're just broken pipes now)

that's actually not a geometry change! you can just change the pipe to connect to a different room and it should theoretically change the icon for the pipe i think? not sure cause i've actually never messed with changing a shelter connection into a normal room connection before

Also, how do I make quick edits to a room's geometry (e.g. wanting a specific pipe to be for room connection instead of a den)?

WARC_E01 is forcibly disconnected from WARC_A06 and WARC_E07, which would lead to that room otherwise.

Also pretty funny that WARC_E03 goes straight to WARC_E06 (though watery piping floods, like it's raining, when day breaks). Everything else about the accessible map works OK. Best of luck with the level- and region map-editing stuff (of note since Fetid Glen is an alternate version of Salination)!

yeah looking back on it the fetid glen rework was way too finnicky to throw together correctly so there's a lot of small oversights with the room connections and stuff that have major effects. i'll get to fixing them in the next update. if you can tell me what room you got softlocked in that would be helpful

Yo, this mod's super fun. I took a shine to Verdant Waterways and Fetid Glen for your takes on their respective ecosystems (and fun gameplay lol). There's also a feeling that Aether Ridge regions are separate places in spacetime (apart from evidence of mod subregion connection).

There are some small bugs with Fetid Glen: going there via Salination makes a portal back that overlaps with the gate to Signal Spires, a diurnal Infant Centipede has the 0.3-length label instead of AlternateForm, and diving through the bottom of WARC_A06 softlocked me. Also, passing the hard-to-climb drop in Thermal Relay makes the warp two-way at Salination (but not Coral Caves-Turbulent Pump, surprisingly). Wonder if that and some WARC day/night label "discrepancies" are something you're rollin' with.

Still, I love how many Downpour creatures like Aquapedes, Yeeks, and Mother Spiders diversify the "gameplay design". And why do i imagine elite scavs jury-rigging thermal relay coils for electric spears :D

okay i'm trying to release the update and for some reason the game keeps saying something with the metadata is invalid.
i tested a duplicate of the mod by uploading it privately and only changing the name and description and it uploaded just fine
so there goes my plan of pushing out a hotfix tonight!

@riley_ my problem with blizzards is by far not their power and such as watcher can go invisible allowing you to just pretty much ignore blizzards unless they get stuck in a pipe

i just don't like how they look and act

they make no sense for me

eh i'm fine with the wiki page being like that, especially since it means people reading the wiki page for the mod won't get spoiled on some of the cooler stuff i did.

yeah blizzard lizards are poorly designed, but watcher qol fixes them to solve my issues with them at least (removing the wind entirely but keeping the laser). but kaeporo themself has stated repeatedly that they are an apex predator, so i changed the spawns to account for that.

basilisk lizards are just 100% poorly designed and still fundamentally broken (you can't tame them at all because they don't track sound sources like black lizards do), not to mention entirely unnecessary and overdesigned as shit. fetid glen has plenty of issues already, and black lizards need more attention anyway.

i would recommend either requesting an update or take down of the page if it displeases you enough

also yeah idk why the basilisks are the way they are, like why do they give the mushroom effect when close?

also screw Lazer lizards, kill them all
its not even that they are powerful, never had a problem with them because watcher can go invisible, they are just like the dumbest creature ever

i read through the wiki and it left out a bunch of features lmao. mostly focused on the creature spawn changes (which is fair), but i should mention they left out the main features of the stormy coast and outer rim reworks AND didn't pick up on the thing i was trying to do with the rotten region reworks

I am sorry but i am NOT playing this mod if it removes basilisks like the wiki page says it does, i liked all the other changes but i need basilisks, they are the point of fedit glen and there are frogs that get rid of the poison they are one of the most intresting unique lizards and you got rid of them!?!?! Yes i am a basilisk lover (if you removed/made them less common blizzards lizards i will be even less likely to play this mod they are my favorate lizards in all of rainworld and the main part of the surface and are already too unused) I do love all the other changes if you fix removing the really cool new lizards i might play this mod again

that and the golden lights from the VoidMelt effect can help with visibility and fit perfectly with the multicolored LightSource objects i put everywhere

fetid glen has a subregion called fetid john, which consists of all the rooms i made inaccessible. if you're able to go in those rooms, something went wrong.
and i added very weak void distortion to fetid glen because i like how it looks and felt like it was a much nicer-looking alternative to the CosmeticRipple spam the region normally has for making the whole experience vaguely look like watcher is tripping out

i edit some files in the mods folder on my computer, open the game, enable the mod, then go into remix menu and press an extra button on the mod that uploads it to the workshop
