Hello, it seems to be caused by the "MOD DLC" that enables workshop support doing it. So it's not related to your mod. Uninstalling it fixes the issue, but I am unable to use your color grading fix. I wonder if there is a workaround to this.

mod should not affect rain, but if there is no other mods installed it could be some new bug, check if rain works wothout my mod
Dr.Skid 25 Apr @ 7:31am
I followed Knochenjonny's steps and it worked. But I have ran into a problem - there seems to be no rain anymore. Is there a reason for this is it caused by the mod?
craigthepope 31 Mar, 2023 @ 5:59pm
I might have found a way.

Open Unreal Editor for Fable Anniversary.

Within the Content Browser, go to packages -> WellingtonGame ->Content -> UIOrgUPK -> WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.

Right click on WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS and click “Fully Load”.

Right click desired Post Process Chain tile and click Edit Using Post-process Editor.

Make desired changes.

Right click the tile and click Save.

Is there anyway I can edit the UDK file? By default, ambient occlusion appears to be disabled.

its a shame we never got that link
v00d00m4n  [author] 5 Aug, 2021 @ 2:08pm
so it seems like normaly before modding for this game became broken from steam side - steam or game would copy bin file from steam downloaded folder to Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\UserData and rename it to proper UPK name according to its header, and after game it will delete UPK , and this routine is broke now, so we have to do it all manually. Or maybe someone with time can write a ASI dll that will do that on start of game or will simply redirect pathes of game files directly to bins.
NGHM𝐴RE 2 Jul, 2021 @ 4:11pm
This mod is amazing! Just follow Knochenjonny's steps to get it to work.
Knochenjonny 15 Mar, 2021 @ 11:54pm
If you want i can share the link to my Steam Discussions Thread with all Tweaks and an alternative to fix colors and blur, with screenshots.

But this is your Mod thread so only if you say i can post it i will :D
Knochenjonny 15 Mar, 2021 @ 11:13pm
NO... i know its not your fault i mean this game is very bad optimized for visuals.
Yeah i wrote evrything in one line sorry :D

It was a little bit tricky ^^
I installed a tool for monitoring folders for evry change happen.

That way i find out what happens if you subscripe a Workshop Mod, it downloads first into a temp folder and than create a Folder into Workshop with the AppID for the game.
Inside this Folder it creates a Folder with the ID of the mod into this one it puts the downloaded mod as a .bin file.
Knochenjonny 15 Mar, 2021 @ 11:13pm
Than i could see a file was created in userdata but first time i dont see what file because the game have deleted it after the first launch.

Than i inspected the .bin file (your mod) with lots of tools. Filetype checker, hexeditor, tried many unpacker tools and so on.

After all this leads me to nowhere i opened it straight with notepad++

First line give me a hint.
  WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.UPK P[ Áƒ*ž\ii”

I searched the game files and found the original one.
I remembered that a file has changed in the Userdata Folder, so i simply rename the .bin file to WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.UPK and put it inside that folder.
Knochenjonny 15 Mar, 2021 @ 11:12pm
Launched the game and voila your mod was applied :D

Closed the game restart and it's gone.....

Checked the folder again no WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.UPK inside.

Easy copy the file again AND make it Read Only :D

Started the game several times and your mod got always loaded if you select modded game (via steam)
Selecting normal game and you got vanilla ^_^

Sorry for that long text but i wanna explain everything in detail because you ask :)

Have a nice Day.

Ps. I wrote a Tutorial in Steam Discussions Thread
v00d00m4n  [author] 15 Mar, 2021 @ 3:53pm
unfortunately broken mods for this game not my fault, but thanks for finding out the way to make it work again. by the way how did you know game could read modded files from userdata?
Knochenjonny 15 Mar, 2021 @ 10:55am
4) inside the folder 345693785 there must be a file named 547514357933381515_legacy.bin

5) Copy that file to: Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\UserData
(it's the folder where steam downloaded your games)

6) Rename the copied *****_legacy.bin file to: WELLINGTON_POSTPROCESS.UPK
(be sure that you have enabled show File Extension in Windows you MUST enable that first !!!!)

7) Make this file ReadOnly / Write Protected.
(If you forget this the following will happen: the game launches and load the modded file and delete it... I don't know why but if you quit and restart Fable next time it can't find any mod files and loads original unmodded files.... )

8) Now everytime you launch your game (modded option via steam launch) everything looks like it should.
Knochenjonny 15 Mar, 2021 @ 10:55am
Finally i have fixed your Mod .... what a mess >_>

0) You need to download the free DLC for modding first

1) subscripe to this Workshop mod (easy)

2) go to your SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\288470

3) this mod has Workshop ID 345693785 so you should see that folder and open it.
SinForged 5 Feb, 2020 @ 3:46pm
Doesn't seem to work. Modded game refused to start up after I replaced the file. The file is the same size too, so it seems the error message is caused by something else. Guess that's it then.
SinForged 5 Feb, 2020 @ 3:33pm
Just realized why that works and why it won't work for this. Forgot that mod files are in the UserData folder, and his "mod" is just replacing a model. Unfortunately the way your mod changes the files is not that simple, so it seems there really is no chance of this working short of Steam fixing the workshop for this game, but that seems highly unlikely at this point... I don't want to use reshade either, so seems I may just have to deal with the colors as they are. Though I wonder if replacing the file in UserData might work? It seems to be caused by the file not being the right size, but then it's likely something more complex then that. Might try it with that mod I linked though just to see if it works.
SinForged 4 Feb, 2020 @ 7:36am
Nope that seems to just be models and textures and such, so the file(s) must be somewhere else. Oh well, I'll just have to deal with the colors as they are I guess...
SinForged 3 Feb, 2020 @ 7:22am
I'm installing the game again to check if there is a file for this mod in that folder and if so what it's called.
SinForged 3 Feb, 2020 @ 7:21am
It would still require subscribing to the mod, but you just backup and replace UPK file in Fable Anniversary\WellingtonGame\Content\OrganizedForCooking
SinForged 3 Feb, 2020 @ 7:16am
Might not work, but it's unlikely that Steam is ever going to fix this at this point, so might be worth trying.
SinForged 3 Feb, 2020 @ 7:12am
Hey Voodooman, would you be able to do what this guy did and upload the UPK file for your mod somewhere? https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1781235488
taylod1568 1 Aug, 2019 @ 4:30pm
never liked the sweetfx presets but i eventually found out they just use reshade and anyone can make the presets so made my own most of the good ones leaned to far in the red spectrum especially in the guild where red lighting on red walls made it look like a sea of neon red especially with the tlc sweetfx but if you just get reshade you can make it very nice looking i got rid of the blur made the image sharp then added in more color saturation and turned down the red saturation because dear god this game leans red with the candle and fire lightning and the fall like theme in tlc made it worse anniversary didnt red bias as much but it did a little i would recommend Voodooman you just get reshade and share files like that and link it here sad but you know is what it is
v00d00m4n  [author] 13 May, 2019 @ 4:56pm
Please write all of this to steam support personaly and also on Steam report forums. Please, all of you do that (dont forget to post link here so others could join thread) so we can be heard and Valve could fix workshop they broke for this game.
SinForged 13 May, 2019 @ 10:51am
Seems none of the mods work... Also, there is a message when I start the game sometimes that says something along the lines of "Files downloaded from STEAM are not the right size. Download anyway?" or something. Also the downloads list on the steam app lists two downloads for fable mods. One is 0 kb and the other is what ever combined size the mods you have are. The 0kb one has the usual PLAY button after it's done, but the other one just has a grey button that says" VIEW". Also it seems the only file it downloads for each mod is a .bin file called (some random number)_legacy.bin. Seems steam broke the workshop support for this game real good. It doesn't work at all. I doubt they will ever fix this either...
SinForged 13 May, 2019 @ 10:21am
I'll try some other mods now, though I don't think the FXAA remover worked with, but I can't be sure as easily noticeable as this mod and I was just using it to try to get this mod working.
v00d00m4n  [author] 13 May, 2019 @ 6:16am
problem is that this game mod support completely tied to steam api, and it would not just work if you will download it from somewhere else, because you would not even know how to name the folder and where to put the file for game to hook it up, since it relies on all sorts of steam ids. Also tools for mod cooking tied to steam as well. If that steam update messed things up - please write to steam support, show them link to mod and other mods for this game (do other mods work? have you tried?) and ask them to fix whatever they changed in steam to restore mod support in older games, if other mods are broken too - than this is the only option we have now - writing to steam support and demanding a fix from steam side.
SinForged 13 May, 2019 @ 6:13am
Yep, I have the mod support dlc installed and -NOSEEKFREELOADING in my launch options, colors are still screwed up. Tried deleting the workshop folder, reinstalling the game, restarting steam, nothing. I'm guessing Steam changed something again that broke it completely this time, since the work around MasterJones93 and taylod1568 mentioned don't seem to work anymore. Really sucks. Might be better to upload the mod to someplace like the Nexus as I think it's the weird way Lionhead set up mod support that breaks things when Steam updates things. It's likely that things will just break again at some point on here, but I'll take what I can get. I'll just have to remember not to uninstall Fable again when/if this mod starts working again.
v00d00m4n  [author] 13 May, 2019 @ 5:17am
ill try to check whats going on, but did you install mod support dlc and added -NOSEEKFREELOADING to launch options?
TheRedBeardedFury 10 May, 2019 @ 6:05pm
Yeah it would be nice to see a way to get this working. When it does work you can really tell and its nice!
SinForged 8 May, 2019 @ 9:55am
Yeah, can't get the mod to work. Would it be possible to just upload the files you changed somewhere? It's unlikely steam will fix this.
Radex 7 Apr, 2019 @ 11:33am
It seems to not work. Nothing has changed after subscription ;-;
taylod1568 10 Oct, 2018 @ 7:23am
yeah i reported it ill let you know there 2 cents so the people here know why this issue persists
v00d00m4n  [author] 10 Oct, 2018 @ 6:52am
Ok, by description of this it seems like steam still keeps mod file after unsubing, and game reads it, and i supposed unsubbing chnage modification or creation dates and game loads last modified or created file, so last unsubbed mod wins. Please report about this issue to steam support, they need to fix it.
taylod1568 9 Oct, 2018 @ 11:28pm
update: im not sure how this is possible... but i did get it to work in a rather unorthadox manner i noticed it on my first pc test run where i had downloaded fxaa remover i fully expected that it would clash and skew results with this mod so i unsubscribed i knew i still might have issues but i tried anyways and ofc it didnt work but then i decided i didnt care so i unsubscribed from this and resubscribed to the remover mod and oddly i noticed the screen was redshifted more colorful and vibrant and that the sunlight sorta made blinding reflection on metals if aimed at the sun and i just now tested it if i wait till the sun is sorta pointed the other way and go to where that image is the similarity is uncanny even though im not subscribed to this it works when you subscribe to the remover mod after unsubscribing here idk why or how but its clearly a steam issue not this mod O_o
v00d00m4n  [author] 9 Oct, 2018 @ 2:23pm
Talod, based on your comment you are lacking ability to read and undestand what you did just read. Only few of recent people had problems due of messed up mod distribution configuration made by DEVS of GAME, not by me, also it could be due of changes made in steam around workshop distribution.Unsubbing all mods, and resubbing and reinstalling game with mod DLC usually works fine.
taylod1568 9 Oct, 2018 @ 1:55am
based on the comments it seems clear that this never worked for anyeone and that most people just convinced themselfs it maybe worked but there is definitly no way to make this work not even a uninstall fresh start gets this thing working i mean its hard to be mad when its a free mod but just a disappointment
Mikey 18 Feb, 2018 @ 11:13pm
Cant seem to get this too work im on a fresh install with no other mods ever been installed. Help meh pls C:
TheRedBeardedFury 19 Jan, 2018 @ 8:46pm
Yes it works and if it doesnt try the steps I said below to get it to work.
Riekopo 19 Jan, 2018 @ 5:49pm
Does this mod still work?
v00d00m4n  [author] 27 Dec, 2017 @ 2:21pm
i dont really know whats going on, its on steam part, contact steam support maybe they can fix it
TheRedBeardedFury 27 Dec, 2017 @ 1:55pm
Okay I figured it out and deleted and quit steam and then resubed. The problem is still going on. The only way I can get it to work after quiting is to unsub and sub to the remove fxxa mod then unsub it and sub back to yours then yours will work till you quit the game.
TheRedBeardedFury 27 Dec, 2017 @ 1:11pm
Do you know what the workshop id is for this game? Also is it the acf file i want to delete or in the content folder within the workshop folder for steam?
TheRedBeardedFury 27 Dec, 2017 @ 1:06pm
Okay I will try that and post what happens. I see alot of people having trouble with it and found that fix so just wanted to let you and everyone else know that was having issues with it. Also this is the only mod I have installed and don't intend to use any others.
v00d00m4n  [author] 27 Dec, 2017 @ 1:03pm
hmm try to delete this game id workshop folder withing steam folder and unsub all mods for fable and restart steam, then sub only this mod and see if that fixed it, aftet that sub any other mods except for those that alters post processing
TheRedBeardedFury 27 Dec, 2017 @ 1:01pm
Also wasn't sure if you was aware of the issue.
TheRedBeardedFury 27 Dec, 2017 @ 1:00pm
I know but everytime I quit and restart the game its the only to get your mod working. I was hoping for a fix for that as I like yours but I hate having to do that everytime I quit the game and can't figure out why I would have to do that inorder for yours to work?
v00d00m4n  [author] 27 Dec, 2017 @ 12:58pm
these mods edit same post processing files so they overrider each other, use only one. You dont really need FXAA mod since my mod fixes FXAA by switching from really blury FXAA 2 for consoles to more sharp and good looking FXAA 5 suitable for PC.
TheRedBeardedFury 27 Dec, 2017 @ 12:52pm
I've noticed that everytime you quit the game you have to unsub and sub to the other fxxa mod then launch the game and unsub it and resub this one for it to work everytime you quit the game any way around this?
v00d00m4n  [author] 5 Nov, 2017 @ 5:46pm
also do you have any other mods subscibed? please try to unsub all mods for fable temporary and try my mod only, if game does not crash with only it installed than its not an issue of my mod and you have to look elsewere for reasons of crash
