This mod was the first in a series of animated mods, and now there are already 4 animated factions. If you're interested, take a look at my mods, everything is there.

The animations, while simple, show a good understanding of biological movement in simple animation. The buzzing insect wings feel especially Correct in that way, though I think there may be only two different timings. I'm excited to see how it all feels in play!
This makes me think that Qud would benefit a simple up-down 'bobbing' movement of any tile in the Flying state. It would give flight a better feeling of presence since it can be difficult to tell what is and isn't flying (including my character) when I miss or misinterpret the up-arrow frame. I'm not sure how that would work, as I haven't started my own modding adventure yet.
That right there proves your mod is good. It conveys something I would never otherwise know.

Big thanks to Klomn for the initial tests regarding different types of flyers, I'll keep working on that.
Going to update the mod step by step, according to the wiki there are still around 20 flyers to add.
As for animating other creatures I’m still considering it - I wouldn’t want to turn this magical game into a chaotic moving mess. Let's see how things go after handling the flyers.
