It's not that I can't, it's just something that doesn't align with my goals. Backporting content is also undermining the idea of playing on newer game versions, because if you backport things, what's the incentive to play with them on a newer version of the game?
Yes, no desert camo helmets in B41 (off the top of my head). IIRC I only ported surplus items like Tiger Stripe etc. to B41
Only with Spongie's rolled up sleeves
Yes, M1 helmets are naturally in B42. They're very rare, but they're absolutely there. Vanilla only has a dark green skin for it though
wait are m1 helmets naturally in build 42? thats fucking sick lowk i gotta hop on b42 sometime. thanks for the information
Through the "Build 41" pack I already backported some of B42's unique content, however I didn't include any new models. You see, I'm trying to stay as true to vanilla as possible, and backporting content from a newer version - and I mean, any content, be it textures OR models - is already against my design ideas (devs didn't add it, so why should I?).
So tl;dr the M1 helmet's model was added with B42 => no backporting models (also means no ALICE webbing in B41). If it was a matter of copy-pasting a texture into the B41 file directory I'd do it, but it's more than that and may be prone to issues, if models need more than just their FBX (iirc) file.
M1 helmet is a new helmet model added with B42. It's not a reskin of the "normal" (PASGT) helmet
Yeah I completely forgot about those. I'll try figuring something out with them, plus any other items I may have missed (canteens come to mind)
Thank you! Of course, of course I will credit you as the author! And yes, I was going to adjust the texture resolution to the original resolution, carefully increase the detail and optimize the weight of the textures ☺️
Sure, go ahead. Just take into account the textures here are all 4x the size of vanilla textures, so you may want to downscale them.
Also remember to credit me if you go ahead with including my textures - it's all I ask for :)
No. My and Lillie's mods collide because they do exactly the same things - they both replace vanilla textures, although Lillie's mod also adds a lot of new items and functionality, unlike my mod which mostly adds a couple more clothing options.
All this mod does is replace textures, plus add a very lightweight method for wearing Red Dawn KLMK uniform in its winter (reverse side) colartion. Without enabling the Period-Accurate Pack, you won't see any new items spawn in the world.
It's part of this download. In the in-game mod list you'll find a new entry named "Immersive Camos - Build 41 Pack". It contains the military uniforms/camos added with B42 back-ported to B41.
For technical reasons only, this mod is also visible in B42 version of the game - enabling it changes nothing, as the mod has no content in its B42 version.
I can't publish this submod without being on B41, which isn't something I plan on doing in the near future. Sorry guys, but despite the mod being game-ready, the new uploading system just doesn't want to accept it.
You know, I changed my mind. I'll back-port those items and all other B42-exclusive camos to B41 just for the sake of it.
Everyone thank this guy for changing my attitude.
Because I don't like back-porting. Yes, it's as simple as that. You could describe this as laziness, if you want.
I don't know for sure, but I don't see any reason for why it wouldn't work. Of course, all players have to have this mod enabled for it to work as intended (afaik enabling any kind of mod requires everyone to have it enabled, no matter if the mod is merely replacing textures or doing much more - same treatment for every mod). You're welcome to test it though.
You can always just play with vanilla texture sizes by setting them to the default (256) size in video settings. The camos will remain just as pixelated as their vanilla counterparts, albeit the patterns will be nominally accurate (just very blurry).
None at this time.
PZ's hunting camo has no single real-world counterpart. Being a Realtree-like design, it has no clear candidate even from just the designs offered by Realtree itself. Of course, I could take a random one and eyeball its colors to roughly match PZ's original, but that requires:
a) most importantly, a suitable pattern to be available online
b) knowing at least how many colors there are on PZ's camo (impossible given the nature of the pattern)
Can I? Yes.
However, one of the goals of this mod was to preserve as much of vanilla's features as possible - and that includes overall clothing design. Yes, I really would love to have a perfect - as much as is possible in PZ - representation of IRL military uniforms and gear, with details such as button colors. But as I stated, it is not a goal of this mod.
Also, which was also pointed out earlier in the comments, the buttons should be fully obstructed by the shirt's (accurately: BDU Blouse's) camouflage material, with only the top most one (if buttoned) remaining visible.
Webbing is the thing that gets hidden actually. And yeah, it needs to be fixed by the devs - because the non-Woodland camo webbing fits over the vest perfectly, same for the Type 56 chest rig.
Yes
Also, I appreciate the kind words
