@iopaba - It's possible they have (once again) changed some element of item distribution that has led to these spawn more than usual, but it could also be you just got a weirdly large amount of volumes because vanilla distribution in general is weird. I've gone into bookstore and found dozens of one set and nothing of others before now - this mostly occurs when book settings are abundant though.

I'll take a look at it when I have the time though, and see if they tweaked something or whatever.

I think the books might be over-represented in School Lockers for some reason. I raided the school in Riverside at one point and wound up finding three complete sets of all five Woodcutting books volumes 1-5, which certainly seems a bit odd. Until I remembered it was modded and might just be a misplaced decimal or something, I was kind of wondering if it was an easter egg like "everyone at this school aspires to be a lumberjack and competes on woodcutting trivia, the mascot is Louie Lumber."

Just though of something tested it and it looks like it goofed. I was using this before 42.12 and then disabled it when it wasn't working then re-enabled it. The disable then re-enable apparently broke something in the save. It works fine with a new game. Oh well, live and learn. On the plus side the new game has me right near the really nice lake house.

Thank you, I didn't see any changes here so I didn't think it was this, probably one of my mods that updated for 42.12 finally and now is interfering, sigh... I've restarted more times then I've died due to things like this. Well, now at least if anyone else has the same error they will know it isn't here. If I figure it out I'll post something.

@Blagden - no updates from PZ that I can see. I haven't updated the mod either. I'm guessing that you either added another mod since that is causing an issue, or perhaps you changed the load order of existing mods that is causing a problem?

For the record, I did run a quick test after seeing your message just to make sure they didn't push a stealth update or something. The mod is working fine however.

Did something else change recently? As in after y your Oct 8 update? It was working after that and just today I can't chop down tress, it does the animate and body temp goes up but no exhaustion and the tree never falls. I can manually swing at trees and chop them that way. Is anyone else having this problem?

Just a heads up:

I have actually fixed the issue with woodcutting that was introduced in 42.12. As @Lucy.ch has posted below, a change broke the script for IsChopTreeAction.lua at line 9. What they did not notice however, is that it also broke the IsRemoveBush.lua at line 51.

But yeah, I already fixed these, but have not uploaded as of yet coz I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything else, and there is a little extra I am hoping to add, which I'm testing at the moment.

Have no fear, I will be pushing an update soon though ^^


EDIT

The update has now been pushed through. The above mentioned issues have been fixed, and the "little extra" has been added: Removing stumps will now award a small amount of Woodcutting XP and the drop has been changed to a wood log from unusable wood.

Fixed a runtime error caused by getCategories() returning nil.

It cause an error message, no animation of cutting trees, no experience obtained and yet damage my axe.

I can't cut down trees anymore, it gives me an error. I can cut them down by aiming and hitting the tree like a zombie, but I can't cut it down with the right mouse button

Just like to share if anyone is getting an error where you *cannot* chop trees at all, loading woodcutting skill mod after TreeZ ViZibility helped so i could chop trees again

Could this be added mid-save? My current Player Character has Gardener, would she gain +1 woodcutting & start to be able to level or is this a new character/save type of deal?

@MrHrulgin - Skills books in B42 have been weird with each update. I've had the aame issue, and others with just vanilla books before now - from whole bookshelves being empty, to others filled with skill magazines, but no books, and so on.

We'll just have to put up with it until they release a stable, and books can be properly weighted without another patch sending them squiff again

The way that the skill books for Woodcutting are added to the loot tables might be a little off? Going through a school I found more than 4 complete sets of the books in lockers and no other skill books there. Either they're in loot tables where no other skill books are found, or they're so heavily weighted that they're overriding other skill books. Not sure which.

@SadlyVoid - If you've added some new mods, or changed some settings there's a chance that one of them disabled the XP. Please try cartgirltoofie's patch posted in the comments below.

This mod was fine a couple days ago but now i get this one error and i dont gain any xp in the skill.

@Rusty #DopeRust - Please check the report, the recent should have fixed the issue. It's kinda a cheese fix, since I just commented out the offending lines, but at least it's working.

This issue has now been fixed, and reinstated.

@稳中向好共富裕 - Please elaborate. Are you saying that B42.4.0 broke the mod? Kinda expected that to be honest, after reading through the changelog for the latest version.

EDIT 2 - I have rushed an update to fix this issue. NGL, it was a pain in the ass to go through the new code and add back all the functionality for Woodcutting Skill mod. Should be working fine now.

Incidentally the "can't cut trees when exhausted" thing is a new mechanic in B42.4.0. I don't like the way they implemented it, essentially if you are exhausted it flags chopping trees as a bugged action so it fails - kinda cheap..

Hey! Thanks for porting this fantastic mod to B42. I, like a few others, have a bug where I can't get experience, but I went ahead and dug around in the code a little bit. It works fine IFF you have "Use Global Multiplier" turned on in the Character sandbox options. If the box is unticked, there's no woodcutting multiplier sandbox option, so the game throws an exception because it can't find that option.
I'm not sure if the original mod had this problem, but I think it could be fixed by adding a woodcutting multiplier to the sandbox settings. Hope to see a fix soon!

I can confirm a mod is now stopping certain mods like Woodcutting from gaining exp, trying to figure it out from my mod list.

I tried the mod on its own and works fine.

I will get back to you once I find out what mod it is.

@OxtailSafu - first, try unsubbing and resubbing to the mod. B42.4.0 broke it, and I had to upload a fix. Steam can sometimes be finicky with updates, so unsubbing and resubbing is the best way to know you've got the latest version.

As for your log, you can either put it up on a site like Pastebin, and post a link here, or post it in the discussions.

EDIT - BTW, if you know how much XP the mod used to give for a medium sized tree, lemme know. Currently it's like 1xp or some, more for larger trees, and less for smaller ones. Not sure if how the values are calculated changed or not, so I was always more focused on zeds mooching out of the woods XD

Bushes give 0.25XP, and the code for that didn't get changed in vanilla, so I'm guessing it's meant to be these values?

Hello there! I apologize for my ignorance, I've been having some issues with this mod where I can't seem to gain any exp for the Woodcutting skill and it seems to spout an error whenever the action is complete. As someone new to Zomboid, should I copy and paste the debug log here in the comments or make a new thread like the user Ullatec did?
