My God, I am so touched that in 2025 someone is still putting a lot of effort into this good old game, thank you and all the mod makers!
Machine translation, I'm sorry if the meaning is wrong

Really lovely to see a 'generic' community voice pack back in action, wishing y'all all the best with this project.

@CapnRedChops
Would definitely be happy to have you. The guidelines says a condenser microphone is preferred, but ultimately, the microphone doesn't need to be high quality if you really wanted to contribute. Imperfections in sound quality could end up getting filtered out from the radio effect anyway.

Tempted to have a go (South Australian, Australian accents usually only sound like our eastern coast folk), but I don't have a mic. I'll have a think about it

Pleased to see another crack at this. Wishing you all the best on wrangling up voicepacks.

If I was to make a suggestion, it would be to mock up a very rough map of the number of languages/accents needed to very roughly cover the majority of nations in-game, focus on the bare minimum you come up with, then branch it out afterwards based on volunteer input, etc. After all, it can be hand-waived that some languages would've merged or otherwise been affected by population movements since the start of the alien invasion, etc

@Leokosta
That's ultimately up to you. The Swedish and Southern U.S. voices are improved versions of the ones from the original mod, and the Russian and Polish voices can be found elsewhere.

However, I was unable to find contact info for the UK, Dutch, and Chinese voices from the original mod, so I was unable to reach out to them about the possibility of including their voices here. If you decide to subscribe to both mods, just be aware those are the exclusive voices for the moment.

Thats great ! Should we use this with the old mod ?
CzechBall 17 Jan @ 6:38am
planning on trying to record the following languages for this pack:

- Japanese
- Korean
- Czech
- Portuguese
- Serbo-Croatian
- Uzbek
- Hungarian

will update when each of these are complete

In case you're just as lazy when it comes to downloading another mod launcher as I am, here's a little tip;

- Go to Steam > Steamapps > Workshop > Content > 268500 > 3387672719

- Proceed with double-clicking the file labeled as "CommunityLanguagesAndDialects" and open it as a ReadMe file.

- Find "RequiresXPACK=false" and change the "false" to "true"

- enjoy~ :dealerrizz:

THERE IT IS DOOD <3

Thanks for putting this all together! Looking forward to actually getting to *finish* my voice pack after all these years~!

I've been wanting to try and record myself as an xcom soldier for a while, but I've always bounced off figuring out how to actually _mod_. This seems like a great project.

@Jopo80
It works with Long War. Many Long War-specific actions are even covered in the script. That said, the two current voices are actually improved versions of the voices from the old mod, and don't support some Long War events for the moment.

A Finnish translation of the script would definitely be appreciated. It would be posted next to the English one. It's a pretty hefty document though, and could take quite a while to translate.

Is or will this mod be compatible with Long War and Long War of the Chosen? As a side note I might be able to help with Finnish language translations of the voice lines if there are people willing to record a voice pack for our language? Great work and keep it up!

@Zigg Price
Assuming I've already approved someone's voice, that system would be ideal, but that's not what the submission zip does.

The submission zip is meant to make the process of organizing all the recorded lines more uniform, and so the voice contributor doesn't have to fret over exactly what they name each sound file. It still needs to be emailed or sent to me in some way so I can implement the lines into the mod manually.

This is amazing!

As a general question, the part of emailing it to you. Is that required to make it work at all? Or is that just to get the lines added to the mod?

For instance, if I record lines and then add them to the right folders, would it work locally? Is the mod setup to work that way?
