Sure. So for this kind of stuff, I don't extract files, I just replace them. You would download AssetEditor, you would go to the Tools tab, click, go down to Audio (work in progress), and then click on Audio Explorer. From there I would type in campaign_vo and then see a drop down list of all possible campaign_vo sound events (like select, attack etc.), and then do the same for battle_vo, but basically you select one of these events, and you'll see a huge list of faction/unit names for that particular audio event, and you'll find Karl Franz in there, and then you click on his name and it will show you all the associated audio files for that event.
What you need to do is download Wwise, so you can convert .wav to .wem files, .wem is what these games use for audio.
On Youtube there is a complete tutorial for this by OhManTFE that helped me out, it's called Replacing Sound Files in Total War: Warhammer 3 (Modding Guide)
Just follow that and you can't go wrong.
Wow that is a cool idea! You could TECHNICALLY make it happen, since generic lines and attack lines are divided into different categories, so you could have the vanilla babbling and only replace the attack lines BUT... there's only about 4-5 attack lines I believe, so they would begin recycling their lines extremely fast, faster than they do now.
Thank you very much!
@averracus2
Welcome!
Thank you both!
That would be a dream come true for me to make that happen. I'd happily hire a female VA for Sisters of Avelorn, and modded units like Sisters of Sigmar and Dwarf Shield Maidens/Priestess of Valaya.
Hell yeah dude! I'll keep that in mind. We can do something together. Once I figure out how to actually 'add' voices to the game, quite a bit more tricky than replacing what is already there. The current audio for those DLC units can't be replaced without affecting the units they share that audio with currently, otherwise there would have been quite a bit more progress on the DLC unit front.
When one of the master modders is less busy, hopefully he'll be kind enough to teach me the secret formula. And then I'll reach out to you. I have big plans.
Yes.
@JustDoggo
That would be cool! If I can make that happen and it doesn't break from the mold of other vanilla voice lines I'll update it accordingly.
@Barbecue Pistol
High praise indeed, very flattering to read that you were fooled for a moment!
@A bag of rats
I'm thinking I can probably do it. I can probably do counting Nurgle boys. I just have to figure out where to put the counting, probably a mix of movement commands/attack commands/ambient dialogue. If I do it and it comes out not being overly repetitive, I'll post it.
mod itself is great
I see. I'd love to use your VO stuff, but I don't wanna lose any lines so... I'll wait :P
