Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the difference between Fyrd-King AI personality added by this mod and the Militant Warlord AI personality? They seem to have the same preference and strategies.

My thought is, make the huscie a tier 1, and a summon instead. You could rename it Einherjar or somesuch, which flows nicely into the Valkyrie later. Still same idea as a morale booster. You could, ofc, just make them a draftable t1, but I feel the summon is a better meta-friendly choice that should ensure Valor is a safe, if not top, first pick,

So Monger, I want to put a bug in your head, and see where it leads.

When this tome was first made, Triumph had not yet locked units behind town hall tiers as an attempt to curb the advantage of knowledge farming. If you picked this as your first tome, you got a T2 unit from the get go. Even then, summons were better at first, but it DID balance out a bit with the unique bonuses of the tome.

Now, ofc, the Huscarl needs a tier 2 Town Hall, and... well, tbh, this tome more or less arguably should not even be tier 1. Ofc, it generally is fine as a second pick, but arguably would be a straight trap as a first pick.

I guess I just haven't flipped anyone around to look at their back while wearing that option, so hadn't noticed until I went looking for it just now.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure there are components I can use to fix it without creating other problems. I can turn off the mesh for part of the torso, but the top section of torso is attached to the mesh used for the neck, and if I turn that off, there'll be no more neck.

I think the problem comes from the fact that the shirt component comes from the skeleton model.

Here's a request; is there anything you can do to fix the mesh for the added torso slot option for heroes and rulers? For male forms, at least, the back clips through the character, requiring a cape to hide. I'm sure you know what I am talking about. It's goofy because I don't think the same look from the barbarian culture has that problem?

I'm so sorry Daverin2112. I hope you at least weren't in the middle of a playthrough using that strategy, but I have been meaning to rework that trait for several updates, and I've had the modding bug in me since this last one. :steamhappy:

This is clearly a better trait, overall, and I agree thematically it needed to be narrowed. Now if only Tome of Dragons wasn't annoying enough that this wasn't so good for it...

@A Big Hairy Monster Hello! So sorry, I didn't mean to ignore your original question. Just got caught up in doing the updates and reworking the Valkyrie.

Currently it does affect all units you own. I have gone in and added an icon for that so that it should show up for all your units.

I will mention that I have had thoughts of reworking this society trait to bring it in line with some of the other traits in game. Just not sure about all of what I want it to do. However, it is likely with that update that I will restrict that to cultural units, as thematically I believe that is what the trait is about. However, at the moment I don't want to nerf that without buffing or expanding other aspects of what the trait does, so for now it stands.

Update did fix the Valk // Arcitecht issue; id noticed that too.

I'd like to reiterate a prior question, though: Honored Veterans is a Society Trait added by this mod but I can't see it applied on any units. I'm unsure if it affects *all* units, none, or if its only racial ones.... which matters a lot to evolve, summoner, dragon, animal, and necromancer factions. If possible, could we get it labeled on units like other XP boosts? (Like Mana Channelers, various form traits, etc do show up in the unit screens).

That or maybe tweak the tooltip to be more specific?

A recent update appears to have made it possible to recruit huscarls and valkyries in towns without the corresponding research, at least for barbarians.

Loading up a savegame, I now can build Valkyries despite not even having the appropriate tome as long as I have a T4 Town Hall

Thank you for the feedback!

I am of the mind that I don't want the Valkyrie to stand out too much from the power level of Tier IV's that Triumph has established already, but I also want to make sure that you're excited to unlock and use her in battle. It's a fine line to walk. With that in mind, I have been looking over other similar units and abilities and have toned her damage down a bit, but that can certainly be made up for with unit enchantments.

Updates:
- added Wizard Tower: Apex requisite to summon the Valkyrie
- Against the Odds: reduced healing per adjacent enemy from 6 to 5
- tweaked the visuals of the Valkyrie and restored unit card and preview visibility
- renamed Dive of the Valkyrie to Flight of the Valkyrie
- reduced total damage of Flight of the Valkyrie from 30 to 24
- reduced Valkyrie melee damage from 18 to 16

Oh, something actually important balance wise, and I wasn't even thinking of it til I saw another summon: the Valkyrie has no Wizard Tower requirement to summon.

Sooo... Yeah. This is a very fun unit! They really are what you'd hope and expect: a flying shield that just straight up shrugs off the small stuff, and can apply some great burst as well.

If I were to completely spitball at the balance, the simple fact they are not mythic and can receive weapon enchants may wind up meaning that someone who wants to can absolutely crack them out. After all, they now have decent damage for role, good defensive stats, a regen that scales to threat, flight, shield wall, first strike, a movement and aoe burst, a bunch of utility, and the status immunities from Celestial.

But hey, they chose the mod, amirite?

Dive of the Valkyrie is satisfying. And that was just using it to charge behind one unit and catch them in a defense net. I'm eager for my first 3 in a row! :steamhappy:

@Daverin2112 That is actually a problem I am working on at this very moment. I figured out some of the problems with getting her to the proportions I wanted last night, and wanted to have those active before getting to bed. Gonna fix that and make some hopefully more minor tweaks to her appearance today.

Minor nitpick; not sure if zoom of a unit when looking at their stats is fixed, but either valk could use a slight zoom out, or maaaybe slightly smaller model. The head is cut off at the top. The whole model shows in the encyclopedia, however.

Gonna give them a whirl here real soon, along with a couple of buffs for shield units, I'll report how it feels!

Honestly just looking forward to using one in general! Turning the valkyrie into a shield unit is some great synergy with the new content. Which... accident? Or someone who knows that valks were an actual member of Highmen/Archon rosters in the first two games? ;)

Heyo, pretty big update. If anyone has any problems with huscarl harpies, let me know, but as of now there seems to be no problem that I can detect on my end, so I can't fix what isn't broke.

I found Huscarls and Valkyries pretty underwhelming, so I've given them some buffs. Please let me know if I've swung too hard in the other direction or haven't swung far enough.

GENERAL
- added apostrophe to "Warlord's Purge"
- removed Reichert Reicherts from the faction library
- updated Intimidating Strike to inflict Remorse on enemies and Rallying on allies (more in line with the design direction Triumph has been going with)

HUSCARL
- added head feather modularity for Elysians to Huscarl
- replaced Inspire Valor with Valorous Strike

VALKYRIE
- overhauled the Valkyrie's appearance to suit my tastes better
- changed Unit Type: Shielded (w/ short spear)
- increased damage to 18 (Phy/Fir/Spt)
- removed Charge Resistance, added First Strike
- replaced Inspire Valor with Dive of the Valkyrie

Has anyone tried using harpy huscarls since the update? I loaded it up on my game to see what happens, and they were working just fine. Haven't really touched huscarl modularity other than to make them compatible with elysian components.

While I generally don't want to guarantee these mods will always be compatible with mods I don't use, I will try to look into the mod with the harpy transformation and see if I can do anything there.

Working on updating this and "Elemental Tomes - Revived" right now, and will try to have them done for the weekend.

Severe 1 fps bug with the huscarl when harpy transformation and a few other modded transformations are toggled on, can be tested in the encyclopedia
Sadly gonna have to disable this one for now

I like the idea of this mod; almost calls back to the warrior class of AoW3, where "spells" were more like non-magical combat buffs.

Tho I wish these tomes were tweaked to not just affect tier 2 and tier 3 units, cause I find that a bit wonky. Especially since Tome of Valor is a tier one tome, shouldn't it also buff our tier one units at the beginning of the game?

Plus "Battle Training" Spell seems a bit OP for such early game. Perhaps have it work up to Veteran rank for tier one and two units?

The tomes are great, but adding a custom non-deletable faction to the top of your library is kind of a dick move, not gonna lie. Any chance you would you consider removing it?

A bit of notice, Your mod causes severe 1 fps lag when using WERM's Harpy Transformation. You might want to look into your modularity with avians.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! I think the spell is powerful enough for a T1 tome without going past elite, so I'll definitely take a look at that over the weekend.

It seems like battle training from the tome of valor is training units past elite, which the description says it shouldn't, it makes getting dragons really easy.
