I've not tested it but I believe Nano Build And Repair [BaR] repairs damaged grids it monitors; weapons, wayward grinders, bad pilots, or rusting away would just be damage it needs to fix once it detects a block is damaged.

BaR cannot change the texture of a block so if it rusted before, that block will rust again eventually, becoming a slow drain on resources as BaR keeps going back to repairing it repeatedly.

The player will have to manually "repaint" the block's texture to a rust-proof one or edit the list of rust-proof textures in the setting file for that session.

if you are asking if the skin of the block can be taken off automaticly instead of manual from the mod you said then no
megadeathclaw 2 Oct @ 6:21pm
you might have misunderstood what i meant would the nanobots mod repair the rusted appearance from the rusted block
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 22 Sep @ 5:31am
no because it cant repaind the block so aslong it has the rust skin it will take danage
megadeathclaw 21 Sep @ 3:06pm
does nanobots mod repair rust because it welds the whole grid
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 29 Aug @ 3:33am
so i guess youn can read so pls read the dicription thx is all explaind there

Are there any default skins that don't rust or is it just the safe zone by default?
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 5 Aug @ 1:35pm
i sadly dont have so much time anymore so it could take a while
NineSevenFive 5 Aug @ 6:24am
I love the fact that you have continued this mod, I was wondering if there was anyway to further this by each planet having different attributes. Such as Triton turning blocks to frozen skin before rusting it or Pertam turning blocks dusty, and another example with the Alien planet turning skins mossy before finally rusting?
Lells 13 Feb @ 5:53am
Nice, I always wished the first one would let you do this based on the texture of the block, as it seemed silly to me that plastic would rust.

@DamiWRC Maybe you could trick it somehow by using a merge block (which can be toggled on/off when you connect)? I'm not sure how this mod handles sub-grids though, which is the only way I know to merge small grid to large grid. It's maybe something to look into though.
DamiWRC 21 Jan @ 7:01am
Gotcha, thanks for the response!
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 21 Jan @ 5:39am
@DamiWRC
impossible as far as i know
DamiWRC 20 Jan @ 10:47am
Hi, I don't have idea about modding SE, however would be possible to make that when a small grid(A rover) is inside of an airtight space(a garage), it will not get rusted? Or is it impossible to make?
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 2 Dec, 2024 @ 7:28am
@DarkFight @Basistoph you are not the first that asked that. i tryed it and faild one time so it will take time i can try again in my holydays in 3 weeks
Basistoph 1 Dec, 2024 @ 7:15am
I really like this mod, on Planets you have always something to do. But is it possible to extend the functionality of "rust" to space too? for example molecular decomposition through cosmic radiation so you have to maintain your Ships and Stations (if not in Safezone)
DarkFight 1 Dec, 2024 @ 7:05am
hello i would be interested to know if there is a way to rebuild the mod so that the damage is the other way around, so that the damage is everywhere except on planets.
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 15 Nov, 2024 @ 10:09pm
@Fenrir
sry for that but i do this too insure that the mod will nod currupt your world
Fenrir 15 Nov, 2024 @ 1:32pm
I love this mod. The only issue I have is everytime you update it your changing the config file which then nukes my settings to the new file. rather than going over 3.1 alpha the mod updates and then its 3.1 alpha and I dont catch it till my base is half gone or corroded as I play with powered grids do not degrade.
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 12 Nov, 2024 @ 4:46am
@Argaz The Dark
your problem is now fixed sry that it took so long
Stray Angel 10 Nov, 2024 @ 10:55pm
What I meant to mean was ships have power and setting is set <OnlyRustUnpoweredGrids>true</OnlyRustUnpoweredGrids> but ships with shields which has power rusting other ships are not.
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 10 Nov, 2024 @ 9:18am
@Argaz The Dark

only safe zone works not shield

and i will not add shields because it makes no sense that something in a shield can't trust there is still oxygen and water
Stray Angel 10 Nov, 2024 @ 3:48am
My active vehicle with shield keeps rusting like crazy. Other vehicles without shields have no issue if has power.
Mannschaft 8 Nov, 2024 @ 12:39pm
Thank you brother
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 8 Nov, 2024 @ 8:32am
i deleaded

<UpdateRate>600</UpdateRate> (every 10 seconds)
<RustDamage>0.5</RustDamage>

from the config and it works i dont know why but it looks like this feature will be offlinen for now
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 8 Nov, 2024 @ 7:52am
i back roll for now the mod it will run on a older version pls do a back up bevor loading in
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 8 Nov, 2024 @ 7:16am
oh yeah i see it now i try fixin it
ZEN_2255 7 Nov, 2024 @ 11:35am
When trying to run the mod there was a problem, namely it writes in the chatroom:
| RustMechanics: RUST Mechanics ProgressDamage excepion: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Honestly, in this case I don't really understand the reasons why, although it points out the problem, it's not just me alone. you could deal with this?
zorgkirill 7 Nov, 2024 @ 1:48am
As for blacklist: is it possible to make that skins in blacklist work only with large grids/stations?
My thoughts on it:
1) It would be strange/cheesy to make flying ships in concrete armor
2) It would encourage making hangars and closed spaces for all your spacecrafts/rovers.
Mannschaft 6 Nov, 2024 @ 5:11pm
@Shinda Akuma - getting an error - ProcessDamage exception: object reference not set to an instance of an object. Any clue? It's spamming chat.

@Laskoviu_Mat - no, it's not a good idea. Oxidation (rust) requires oxygen and water and neither of those things exist in vacuum. In fact, due to it requiring water, the only reason I didn't disagree with the default config setting being 300 on earth and 150 on mars is because on mars there's more dust, no rain to clean, and less atmosphere to protect against UV rays so I'd imagine a car sitting on mars for 15 years would look far worse than a car sitting in a parking lot for 15 years. That said, it would still look far far better than a car sitting in detroit for 15 hours.

TLDR - that's a bad idea because science
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 4 Nov, 2024 @ 8:02am
if you want a full list off all skins just ask never mind i gonna put them in description
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 4 Nov, 2024 @ 8:01am
@dRuPpl
won't happen for the simple reason that I don't want to put about 28 skins in the white list first of all and secondly I have also uploaded the mod to mod.io for the xbox and playstation players among us and the blacklist consists of things that don't rust in real life
dRuPpI 4 Nov, 2024 @ 6:08am
can you maybe make it white list instead of black list? ...would be much easier to just add a the few blocks / skins that should rust and not all the others that should not.
Laskoviu_mat 1 Nov, 2024 @ 8:29am
a good idea - "rust" in space, it will be cool if the author succeeds in this
ZEN_2255 1 Nov, 2024 @ 8:20am
@Cpt Pillowy Giant | In Atmospheric Damage and Hazards (BB) You can implement something similar, but it's related on planets with weather conditions (on the same mechanics of Rust.) You can contact the author if you're interested.
ZEN_2255 1 Nov, 2024 @ 8:05am
Oh, you have fixed the most numerous bugs and fulfilled many people's requests related to this mod, I have to check this mod in my build. I will let you know if I find a bug or have any ideas related to this mod.
Thanks :se:
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 31 Oct, 2024 @ 11:53am
i can try but not guarantee
Cpt Pillowy Giant 31 Oct, 2024 @ 9:59am
Loved the other mod, so nice to see it back and I hope to see more from this IF you can do it that is. I loved the idea of the rust only working on unpowered grids. I'd love to see something for space too like at the moment I'm using Clean Armour so would be cool to see it get dirty over time or something like that.
Emperors_Nightmare  [author] 29 Oct, 2024 @ 11:35pm
it was sad thed he stoped so i tryed my best ant we cant get a hold of him so i hope he is not mad thed i did this

Good work keeping this one solid lad.
