Amalgamation: Puella Reimagined

I just updated the mod for a couple of things:
First off, the Wish perks now detail how they gain Mana.
Secondly, Fan of Blades now includes Bladestorm. Yes, that changes the original perk. But since this mod is a reimagining that already changes a lot of the original perks and stats, it shouldn't be used with the original classes anyway.
Last but not least, Overdrive has been replaced by Magi Overclock (name pending), a custom perk that simply let's the Magi use Overdrive at a mana cost. I wanted to add a mana cost to Overdrive since the start of the mod, but never knew how to as changing the original perk would ruin the ability for Sparks.
This is just a small nerf to the Magi I came up with.

Chipping in on the fan of blades conversation since feedback was asked for, having the class randomised to an extent is rather fun. That being said, having a dead ability in your skill tree that straight up doesn't work because you didn't get lucky enough to roll it and its requirement is not as fun. If I don't roll fan of blades that's fine, but if I do roll it and can't use it anyway? That feels like I'm being punished for being unlucky because it's taking a skill slot that could've been a working ability instead.

Yes, Fan of Blades is a custom ability specifically made for the Puella Magi Class mod. Fortis Magi can learn Bladestorm at later ranks, but it's not guaranteed. That is pretty much by design since I didn't want to alter the original perks. Instead, you have to be a bit lucky to be able to use Fan of Blades. I liked the idea that sometimes you just don't get it, further adding to multiple Fortis Magi feeling different from one another. Feedback on that decision is appreciated, though. I didn't have the time to do several runs just to see if that's fun or not.

another thing is regarding another one of this case, spercificly fortis magi and the fan of blades skill need a prerequisete of bladestorm, but going what some told me, it could be the puella magi class that cause said issue, not too sure tho, but also going by what the code searching from notepad++ as well, it seems like that is the case since no other class use the "fan of blades" skill.

added confirmation it was the PSI overhaul Chaplain mod that cause the malaise ability to require zombify to even learn the ability
kadra, oh..... 30 Sep @ 10:36am
@matt blade, you might want to hold off on doing that replacement just a little bit, im finding some incompatability that when i remove, has allowed the lad to finally use malaise one again
Matt Blade  [author] 30 Sep @ 9:11am
If that's the case I might remove Malaise from the spec altogether. Removing the prerequisite might be possible, but that would impact other specs / classes that are actually built around that as well. Guess I'll be looking for a replacement instead.
XpanD 30 Sep @ 8:44am
Going by the Discord conversation earlier, it seems that Malaise has Zombify as a prerequisite before it can be selected.
Matt Blade  [author] 30 Sep @ 8:19am
I'm not aware of any restriction for Malaise and I can't see any in the ability's code at a glance. I'll look into it when I have the time.
kadra, oh..... 30 Sep @ 5:46am
hello matt blade! question how do i access to zombify for the silva magi to get the ability known as malaise, it seems its restricted until i get zombify
AshtralAngel 22 Sep @ 12:06am
It appears I am blind, and I can, in fact hover over the mana bar in-mission to see how it regens... Oops XD. It probably wouldn't be a terrible idea to put it in the wish description anyway though
AshtralAngel 21 Sep @ 8:42pm
I'm really enjoying this mod, but I'm finding myself often unsure how each Magi earns mana. Would it be possible to add this information into the Wish description in game? At least I assume there is a different method for each element/wish?
Matt Blade  [author] 12 Jun @ 8:00am
Lux Magi uses Earth Focus, so it gains mana by hunkering down.
[UBGE]moacirp002 31 May @ 9:16am
Excuse me, but my Lux Magia can't seem to get any focus. Do I have to exhange the pistol for a BowCaster? If so, do the pistol perks apply to the bow caster?

Thanks!
Matt Blade  [author] 26 Jan @ 12:29pm
I removed the ability restrictions for ManaTeleport and ManaConceal. This should resolve the issue, I think.
Harehnoth 23 Jan @ 6:09am
Hello Matt Blade! Inside this mods' configs you made ManaTeleport and ManaConceal exclusive to psiamps and alikes. A spec I made, Veil Walker, has it but doesn't have innate access to psiamps, making the skill not usable in mission if this mod is installed together.
Would it be possible to remove de restriction it in your end?

Finally got around to tackling this issue. The Magi specs didn't have the Momentum perk, so I added it onto the Wish perks. I tested it with both Primary Pistol and Psi-Bow and Momentum now properly works. I also added some lines to Ability to Slot Reassignment to properly grant Pistol Dancer and Serial.
Now that every Magi has Momentum, other means should also be able to trigger it.
Void 13 Dec, 2024 @ 1:53am
With a bit of experimenting with ability to slot reassignment I managed to get the PM shot, but it didnt trigger momentum sadly
Matt Blade  [author] 11 Dec, 2024 @ 10:55am
Could be an issue with Ability to Slot Reassignment. I know that Pistol Dancer overrides the standard shot, but I'm not certain how it's meant to play out in the original class. I might need to experiment with it a bit.
Void 10 Dec, 2024 @ 12:57pm
Hello after I took pistol dancer perk I cant shoot my primary pistol with the stardard shot anymore, any ideas?
Matt Blade  [author] 6 Dec, 2024 @ 12:47pm
TL;DR The Puella Magi spec can now equip the Psionic Bow as a primary weapon and it actually works as intended!

So I gave the Psionic Bow another shot and figured out the only real issue was that the BowReload ability wasn't showing up for the Primary Bow, making it impossible to reload.
I made the ability mandatory for the bow using Ability to Slot Reassignment and patched its Focus Cost to make it compatible with Mitzruti's Mana perks and now reloading actually works!
There may be other issues I'm not aware of and I may tweak some stats in the future, but for now I'm just glad the bow is finally compatible with this mod.
Matt Blade  [author] 7 Nov, 2024 @ 12:56pm
I know that Soulgem as a weapon is very quirky, but it's actually intended that Fortis Magi can use it as a melee weapon afaik. It used to be a lot stronger, but I nerfed it for Reimagined. You can go into the configs to see what I've done and tweak its stats to your liking. The animation thing is annoying, but nothing I can easily fix sadly. I also don't know if that's ultimately a result of all the other mods people usually run alongside Amalgamation.
Dragonlord 6 Nov, 2024 @ 4:13am
Used Xreskin to transform the soulgem it to a rifle so that worked at least now she is holding a rifle. So for anyone having the same problem this is a band aid solution.
Dragonlord 6 Nov, 2024 @ 3:16am
Wonder if i can remove it somehow from the dual wield list or the animations or something.
Dragonlord 6 Nov, 2024 @ 3:12am
How do i remove the soulgem as a weapon? The fortis magi (with dual wielding) tries to hold an imaginary rifle while wielding his primary sword and not holding the sword.
Also thanks for another amalgamation Class.
Matt Blade  [author] 4 Oct, 2024 @ 10:20am
@Alterd-Rushnano Wow, thanks! That really means a lot to me. I have nothing but respect for you and all the other great modders that shaped this game into what it is today.
I also really wanted to integrate the Psi-Bow and Glaive into these specs. While I could just give the Glaive to the Fortis Magi, I thought it might be more interesting to give it its own spec. But so far I don't really know what I'd want for that spec.
I tried giving the Bow to the Puella Magi, but I can't get it to behave the way I want it to. Equipping it as a primary doesn't work for some reason, and the secondary variant just has infinite ammo instead of needing Focus to reload. I tried changing the config to only have 1 shot in the clip, but that doesn't affect it at all. Did I just miss something?
Primary Bow with the Focus/Ammo mechanic would honestly be so cool. Madoka IS an archer after all. I'm not really a coder or modder, so I don't know the programming side super well.
Alterd-Rushnano 3 Oct, 2024 @ 10:07pm
Thank you. I never thought of this because my Puella Magi Classes mod was dead. But even though Firaxis hasn't updated XCOM in a long time, your passion still shines.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: Actually, before I lost all my existing data due to malware, I was designing Puella Magi Classes based on witch hatching and all existing psi skills based on focus. However, since the gap was too long, I plan to implement this as a kind of add-on mod.
Matt Blade  [author] 3 Oct, 2024 @ 2:17am
@Ironfaced Unfortunately you can't run this mod alongside my other Magi specs since both use stuff from the original classes in very different ways. I think Amalgamation specs are safe to add mid-campaign in general. Removing them obviously breaks soldiers that have it, but you can reclass them using Console Commands.
XpanD 3 Oct, 2024 @ 1:44am
Whoa, this came out faster than I thought it would. Congrats on release!
Hyakkoudoggo 3 Oct, 2024 @ 12:58am

Ironfaced 2 Oct, 2024 @ 6:53pm
Thanks for this Matt as ive enjoyed your Magi stuff already! Questions: Can I add this mid campaign? Also does it work with the amalgamation Magi stuff or do I need to remove the other amalgamation class now?
