Great map. Reminds me of a movie Solaris by Andrei Tarkovsky

WHY WAS IT ALIVE

map is cool, and the atmosphere is sold really well, my only complain is that its kinda easy to softlock yourself by getting a prop stuck in the wall and being unable to get it out
fatalyst  [author] 16 Jan @ 12:36pm
Added a note to the map description.
MazaferiK 16 Jan @ 12:11pm
Could you edit the description and put the console command to return to normal gravity?

When the gravity was not removed from the map in normal maps I got scared and almost uninstalled it lol
fatalyst  [author] 16 Jan @ 5:28am
Because the map changes gravity via console command, while this new gravity value remains on the next maps you load. The old gravity, accordingly, can also be returned via console command.
bmt001 16 Jan @ 1:56am
I'm Pretty sure the little to no gravity on this map can carry over to the next map you load. Why tho?
The_enderdragon_destroyer 6 Jan @ 5:27pm
as you die and re-spawn and your taken to a different place and after a while you hear this low growl from below and you look down all you see is a green planet concealing your final moment.
The_enderdragon_destroyer 6 Jan @ 5:24pm
man the green planet sound is unsettling gosh

Yes, after turning the valve there is a button to press.
The thing is that this button is right next to the valve , and when you turn it all the way, the button's sprite turns on , letting the player know that it needs to be pressed.
You may have seen these buttons before and certainly pressed them, it's just that the button there is not red, but yellow.
MazaferiK 10 Dec, 2024 @ 5:08am
That valve is available one step before (I believe...) It actually breaks before the monitor asks to fix that, I guess I must have missed pressing the button, The map is very good, Only there are some things that are not intuitive and we need to go around pressing everything, If you continue making maps I hope you take into account that :D!!!!
fatalyst  [author] 10 Dec, 2024 @ 4:43am
Shouldn't this valve/hatch be locked from the start?
And yes, you can complete tasks without even looking at the monitor, all triggers and buttons are turned on/off together with the monitor.
All your actions are taken into account.
MazaferiK 9 Dec, 2024 @ 9:49pm
I just saw that one guy had this bug and the panel was the hatch that is in the main hallway, if you look up you will see it, but I happened to turn that before the monitor told me and it bugged the map since you can only press it once.
MazaferiK 9 Dec, 2024 @ 9:27pm
I think I'm the only one who can't find the solar panel.

Smoothdesigns29 11 Oct, 2024 @ 7:47pm
update: after waiting for what felt like forever the door magically opened on its own
Smoothdesigns29 11 Oct, 2024 @ 7:39pm
I locked myself in the air control room by closing the outer door while I was in it after playing for over 30 minutes and couldn't get out :/

fatalyst  [author] 3 Oct, 2024 @ 4:11pm
Thanks for the explanation though.
fatalyst  [author] 3 Oct, 2024 @ 3:57pm
I removed all possible reflections completely (or rather made the env texture completely black), since i never liked them.
This didn't affect the glass textures, since they are from HL2.
Well, i like HDR more for the contrast of lighting, it can add atmosphere. Bright lighting from Half-Life: Source would not fit here.
NextKurome76TheSoldier 3 Oct, 2024 @ 3:42pm
lamp sources in hl1 and hls were hardcoded to the textures via the game source code, they only used entities when they want lamps to turn on or off. About HDR i mean more the extreme reflections, which wouldn't appear if not compiled in HDR (it also takes twice as long to compile if its HDR)
fatalyst  [author] 3 Oct, 2024 @ 3:37pm
@NextKuromeThe76Soldier Well, i didn't claim that this map was related to HL1, i just used textures and models from there, and did the lighting as i wanted.

Anyway, lamps on decompiled maps from Half-Life: Source often didn't have any entity for lighting, and if you compile the maps again, there will be no lighting on them.
It seems that they work differently, so HDR doesn't affect them.
Maybe you know what the problem is?
NextKurome76TheSoldier 3 Oct, 2024 @ 3:29pm
other than that, best hl1 aventure map i played that actually feels like hl1
NextKurome76TheSoldier 3 Oct, 2024 @ 2:58pm
if i remember right, HL1 maps shouldn't be compiled in HDR

I missed seeing whatever eats your buttcheeks at the end because I was looking elsewhere... I don't wanna spend another 40 minutes to see what it was...
Tiny Desk Engineer 3 Oct, 2024 @ 7:50am
The non-sandbox version is by far the most interactive map I've ever seen in a Source game for its size.

Hi 3 Oct, 2024 @ 12:53am
Everybody has a phobia but nobody has a job
fatalyst  [author] 2 Oct, 2024 @ 10:02am
I'll definitely take your comments regarding this map into account.
It will only get worse.
I eat dirt 2 Oct, 2024 @ 9:39am
very long and the ending is kinda boring. movements annoying and its stress inducing but not because its scary its because you know that there could be a time limit to something and you have no idea what the fuck your doing and you dont wanna restart and blah blah idfk sorry
Harpy 2 Oct, 2024 @ 8:49am
I disagree! I think this map is awesome, and I like the variety of things to fix and the breathing room between tasks;
Petra 1 Oct, 2024 @ 7:10pm
the idea of this map is awesome but the output is garbage, the map is sick, the atmo is awesome, but just there is so much bullshit to do and it gets boring the first 10 minutes
fatalyst  [author] 1 Oct, 2024 @ 5:02pm
Yeah, but since i don't like the weird reflections from Half-Life Source, i decided to remove them altogether.
Atlas_J 1 Oct, 2024 @ 4:42pm
hey is some of the map inside the station supposed to be shiny white?
Narat 30 Sep, 2024 @ 11:06pm
GREAT MAP,PLEASE MAKE MORE NICE MAP LIKE THIS,I MEAN YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY A JGENIUS!!
fatalyst  [author] 30 Sep, 2024 @ 2:07am
No, there is only one ending.
『ItzJodyyy』 30 Sep, 2024 @ 1:39am
are there multiple endings to the quest version of the map? too lazy to play this over and over again
⛧Megalomaniac⛧ 29 Sep, 2024 @ 10:44pm
had me spooked all the way to the end, the ambience is great. my only complaint is that you have to reset the gravity using the console after getting to the end.
Rocky the Rock 29 Sep, 2024 @ 6:23pm
Dang, I didn't know a map could force you back to the main menu. Pretty good fright!
thegamingfrog81 29 Sep, 2024 @ 4:05pm
You may have vertigo, alternatively you suck at the game! (Unfortunate)
