I want to thank everyone who commented with their feedback. If you want to check it out, I've just uploaded a working fully automatic cannon. CLICK HERE

Could give it a try. Thanks.

Gyros are expensive and dangerous.
Giv` this basic heavy load suspension a try:

O -> wheels (+rotors?) ((I do not know about basic wheel control or advanced rotors yet.))
= -> "rail" ((In your case the "clip"?))
---- // -> wheel mounting construction ((In your case attached to main construction?))

O------O
=//===//=
O-----O

Have fun.

Didn't think about gyroscopes. Thank you, it may work.

you're welcome
KiRyuu 2 Nov, 2014 @ 12:11pm
you should have put gyros on the clip and pistons
MegaDerf  [author] 2 Nov, 2014 @ 11:49am
I guess I could try the two clips thing. Thanks for the feedback.

Thats nice. It is something that u can work on. U can try to stabilize a bit that clip with some landig gears yes? And maybe if u spent some time tweaking the system u can build 2 smaller clips that will be a lot more stable while saving a lot of space.

Thank you, this particular design is a bit problematic because of the pistons, but there are other similar cannons that can be built using similar designs. The reloading is one of the hardest parts, especially because it influences a lot the whole weapon.

Brilliant concept! A tad too big, on first sight for a beginner like me (~100hrs).
Yet i am sure there is an easy ((very mechanical)) way to give it the stable vertical performance you are looking for. Experiment on heavy-load elevators or cargo rails. No thrusters here.
Also think about a reloading mechanism... and "bullets" with spin?

Truly an idea to fall in love with.

Thanks :)

Interesting idea & points for an entertaining video. I loved the potato! Keep working on it. There has to be a way to make it work!

Thank you.

It was a good try, don't give up. You seem to be on the right tack.
jackik 1 Nov, 2014 @ 12:24pm
that kind is hard. I tried it with auto aim. does not inflict that much damage if it is only on rock at a time. better use my design with timers.
MegaDerf  [author] 1 Nov, 2014 @ 11:48am
It seems interesting. I may try it. I've also thought about a machine gun design using connectors, but I'll have to do some experimentation. Thank you for your help.
jackik 1 Nov, 2014 @ 11:19am
no. but I'll describe what i do
I use a system that first centers the rocks a little, because then they get dispensed the have initial velocity. If they get accelerated then it could harm the gun. I use a 3 stage firing system.

1 stage: all connectors dispense and a spherical gravity gen centers them and stops there movement.
2 stage: connectors stop.
3 stage: spherical gravity gen stops and other forward accel gravity gens kick in.

"4" stage: massive BOOM
MegaDerf  [author] 31 Oct, 2014 @ 2:52pm
Well, then I'll have to try them. Have you posted them on the workshop?
jackik 31 Oct, 2014 @ 2:49pm
infact already did and it works better then every thing else i have ever tried! I use cluster weapons w/ timers.
MegaDerf  [author] 31 Oct, 2014 @ 8:03am
They are not effective at all. You can do some experiment by yourself, but I don't think you'll be able to create something useful. In fact, the small explosive crafting items whose name I can't remember right now, used to explode on impact before the adding of the ejectors.
jackik 31 Oct, 2014 @ 7:47am
has anybody ever thought of ejectors/conectors? you would only need one of those, an energy source and a gravity adding block.
MegaDerf  [author] 30 Oct, 2014 @ 5:48am
Thank you for your feedback. I was trying to do something using the methods you told me, but probably is was too big. I made this thing in 10 minutes after 5 or more hours of broken designs.

Yep its ridiculous. Ive been playing with cannon designs too. Pistons and rotors both seem ineffecient and unreliable.

Try to think small. If the design is too big it will only fit on a massive ship. But big ships need to deal more damage. Compact designs are the only ones feasible.

Try experimenting with small weak gravity fields to move rounds around inside a magazine.

You can also use blast walls attached to a single piston to move rounds up and down inside a firing chamber if needed.

blast walls make excellent barrels. Landing gear can make good internal parts but should only be used where blast walls wont work because they are 3 times as thick (including the block mouted on)

You can also try making a shotgun using gravity fields to propel rocks thrown from a connector.
