[UEM] Floors N Stuff - Insect Jelly
86 Comments
Most Definitely a Mimic 29 Aug @ 5:30am
I managed to load this into a extremely heavy modded pack. All the floors worked just fine which is what I was here for, I didn't actually check any of the buildings though lol.
Triel 23 Aug @ 5:30pm
Maybe someone should check this mod without a pile of others to see if it works. I'll do it if nobody else does by the time I get some time
Torkkar 14 Aug @ 11:19am
sadly the game in save or new colony refused to load though I was trying a batach of old mods that got updated recently so i'm still sorting through those to find the culprit may be a bit before i can try this one again
UltraEmailMan  [author] 14 Aug @ 10:59am
Sounds like it's at least loading okay then. Try using the Acid Nodule. That's the only thing in this mod that uses C# to work, so it's the most likely thing to be broken.
Torkkar 14 Aug @ 10:49am
I tryed got 1 red error with VFE-I2 more Hives and a tone of yellows related to 1.5 version tag and I'm running about 286 mods but still not my whole list
UltraEmailMan  [author] 14 Aug @ 12:22am
Have any of you actually tried using it in 1.6 yet? The vast majority of it should still be working.

@delzaron
- I will not be allowing a reupload for this, as the C# code is not mine to give away.
- If you are seriously interested in learning how to mod, I recommend going to the Official Rimworld Discord Server. They have tons of resources and helpful people there who can help you get started.
Torkkar 12 Aug @ 5:43pm
delzaron no offense dude but with the second half of your question might want to learn how beforasking to become an upkeeper
delzaron 9 Aug @ 4:04am
damn, yes.

So questions :
- do you allow somebody to retake your mod andd update it ?
- how I could update this mod from 1.5 to 1.6 ? which tools I need ? how to check it, and post it on steam worksjop ?
Teutonic_ice 1 Aug @ 1:32am
damn...
UltraEmailMan  [author] 18 Jul @ 3:34am
This mod will not be updated. I took my PC to a repair shop and the technician wiped my data drive without telling me, so all of my modding files are gone. There are a lot of other mods I had in progress that are much higher priority than this one.

So basically, no plans currently. That might change later, but no guarantee.

As far as I know though, the only thing that might be broken is the acid nodule. Pretty sure everything else was just XML, so it should still work unless something changed on VE's side.
RadSpaceMom 18 Jul @ 3:13am
Any plans for 1.6?
UltraEmailMan  [author] 27 Jun @ 9:20pm
Option 2: If you specifically want the insect jelly floors to look like that:
1. navigate to where the mod files are located on your computer. If you use RimPy (highly recommended), just right click the mod and select "open folder"

2. go to Textures>Terrain>Surfaces and delete "UEM_JellyFloorTexture.png"

3. If you already have the game's art files downloaded, skip to step 4, if not you can access all of the game's art files here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/fi49a1wj4iaao72ndhlp9/AK4AoWZg0WCSeRKbZ1WY6kI?rlkey=6zgtptylc7cigr139m75z741m&e=1&dl=0 You'll want to download the Game Art Source - Rimworld.zip file.

4. Unzip the file, locate the flagstone texture. Should be somewhere like Textures>Terrain>Surfaces, and then copy it to where you deleted the UEM_JellyFloorTexture.png.

5. Rename the file to UEM_JellyFloorTexture.png.

6. Launch your game, and it should now be using the new (old) texture.
UltraEmailMan  [author] 27 Jun @ 9:20pm
Ah, those images are from before I had time to make a custom floor texture. If I recall correctly, I basically just reused the flagstone texture from the base game. If you prefer that texture, you have two options.

Option 1: If all you're after is just floors that look like that: Just place down flagstone instead and paint it whatever color you prefer. This is the much simpler and easier option.
Flockerkill 27 Jun @ 9:10pm
i think that are just some ground tiles of the the vanilla expanded mods and useing the jellys as their matherial to be build
Icepick 27 Jun @ 6:23pm
How do I get the floor patterns in the 2 images? I can get the bean looking one that's in the small preview, but I'd like to use the one that looks like yellow or green Creep, or the cracked mosaic looking ones. I don't see an option for those though - anyone know how?
UltraEmailMan  [author] 25 Jun @ 10:40am
To anyone using this on 1.6: Please let me know if you run into any issues. As far as I know, it should still work.
UltraEmailMan  [author] 23 Nov, 2024 @ 11:46am
To be fair, it's a lot of text, and a lot of the features are highly dependent on which mods you're running. If you want to tweak it so you don't have to use the serketist ideology style, check the mod's patch xml. There's a section that mentions VIE and ideology stuff. Just remove the whole cluster.
Bunuffin 23 Nov, 2024 @ 5:47am
Damn... I missed it, i skimmed the description yesterday.
Flockerkill 23 Nov, 2024 @ 5:31am
As in the description, when useing VIE Memes and styles, that the floors need a dominant serketist style of your colonies idiology
Bunuffin 23 Nov, 2024 @ 5:22am
it's ideology specific?
Flockerkill 22 Nov, 2024 @ 2:43pm
Is your idiology a serketist?
Bunuffin 22 Nov, 2024 @ 2:04pm
The jelly floor is not showing up, i did reinstall the mod too, all the other buildings do show up
Yukon 24 Sep, 2024 @ 4:18pm
Nice, that's pretty cool of him. I noticed things from this mod coming up in that one a lot, seems like you were filling a need. Easier to clean floors so it's not just a hell of filth and slime, that kinda thing.
UltraEmailMan  [author] 24 Sep, 2024 @ 3:17pm
Yeah, Oskar gave me a heads up about that a couple weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to look at em in-game yet. My floors will say as-is, since this mod is for non VFE-I2 users as well. I may end up patching the new ones to be buildable though. We'll see.
Yukon 24 Sep, 2024 @ 12:35pm
Well shit, they just added a jelly floor to base Insectoids 2. Not sure what you'll do with that.
Flockerkill 21 Sep, 2024 @ 1:16am
the jelly of the black hive geneline from alpha animals mod
Doctor Sex 21 Sep, 2024 @ 12:33am
What is black jelly
Chrisinater5 10 Sep, 2024 @ 1:12pm
The filth... mayhaps you have finally saved me from drowning <3
UltraEmailMan  [author] 9 Sep, 2024 @ 4:03pm
Gotcha. I'll be adding that in the next update later tonight. Apparently creep has a filth multiplier of 1.5. I'll set it to straw's value of 0.05, since imo it makes sense that the creep would absorb the filth for nutrients. Keep in mind you'll still need to clean it, since not all of the filth will go away.

I won't be doing that for the jelly floors, since those are an organic resin instead of a living organism like creep is. Plus they're more meant for interiors anyway. If you really want it for jelly floors, you can tweak the xml yourself or tweak it via RIMMSqol.
Julian333XD 9 Sep, 2024 @ 3:43pm
I have a hundered bugs in my colony that each have a filth rate of 1, and even with 10 cleaners i can't catch up with all that dirt. That's why i ask.
Julian333XD 9 Sep, 2024 @ 3:38pm
Yes, Straw in quotation marks because it would be jelly, not straw.
UltraEmailMan  [author] 9 Sep, 2024 @ 9:17am
@Julian333XD:

Not entire sure what you mean. "Straw" as in it ignores animal filth?
Julian333XD 9 Sep, 2024 @ 7:16am
Creep/jelly "straw" mattings? Fine Royal jelly "straw" mattings? Please?
UltraEmailMan  [author] 8 Sep, 2024 @ 2:38pm
@ShadowEater25:
The Acid nodules only self-activate on enemies. They will still explode when damaged though, so be aware of that when positioning your colonists. The stinger growths are pretty much just reskined spiketraps, so they will still sometimes hit your colonists/bugs.

I'd recommend this mod if you're worried about your people walking on their own traps: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2824833320
ShadowEater25 8 Sep, 2024 @ 1:02pm
Like vanilla traps or are insectoid traps better?
ShadowEater25 8 Sep, 2024 @ 1:02pm
Hey question, sense there are new insectoid traps, do they also get triggered by my colonist and insects or are the traps smart enough to know the enemy?
Naraxa 8 Sep, 2024 @ 12:37pm
Loving the new graphics on the mod page, good work making these nicely readable
UltraEmailMan  [author] 8 Sep, 2024 @ 7:00am
@Nymph. The new content requires VFE=I2. The stinger growth requires Standard Hivetech research, and the acid nodule requires Exotic Hivetech research. Hope this helps.
Flockerkill 8 Sep, 2024 @ 5:39am
yes it did already update

try to unsub, wait till download is donw and than resub
thats a common problem of steam itself
Phobia 8 Sep, 2024 @ 4:37am
@ultraEmailman hey did yo update the mod on steam yet? my mod isnt showing the new content
im grugging it 7 Sep, 2024 @ 6:44pm
Elmo_burning.png THANK YOU THIS IS WONDERFUL-
Grayfang 7 Sep, 2024 @ 12:14pm
Please keep updating this mod. Insectoids 2 is the greatest mod of all time, and this mod adds enough Misc. stuff that it could be it's own expansion at this rate

This is the best day of my life.
UltraEmailMan  [author] 6 Sep, 2024 @ 10:02pm
Those would be the Chitin, Chitinphract, and Beetlephract armor from Biomes! Caverns. Fantastic armor sets. Fantastic mod.
Montu 6 Sep, 2024 @ 9:48pm
What armor sets are those in the new picture on this mod page?
UltraEmailMan  [author] 6 Sep, 2024 @ 9:09pm
If you aren't already in it, definitely check out the official Rimworld discord. They have a couple modding channels and links to tons of useful guides and tutorials.

Setting up a basic style should be simple enough to do with just XML, so it'll definitely be starter-friendly.
Yukon 6 Sep, 2024 @ 6:43pm
I think Serketicist is the only style with a bed. The only two in the style menu are it and Basic. Well, unless you've got more Ideology stuff than me. I don't run Alpha Memes for instance.

Y-know actually, I wonder if you could make an override style that is just basic stuff. That's way more complicated than just using Style Change Anytime but, idk. Could be useful for a custom mod where you just include all your own favorite versions of things in a style.

Shit now I wanna do that. Ritalin, grant me enough attention span to learn to mod this game ffs.
CrackaJack 6 Sep, 2024 @ 3:58pm
if you put the serketist style behind all the others you should have ok beds..
UltraEmailMan  [author] 6 Sep, 2024 @ 2:29pm
@警觉调整者

As Yukon has said, I recommend using the Style Change Anytime mod. If you would prefer to not add another mod, (although that one is a must-have imo), you can also just add Serketist to your ideology temporarily, build the floors, and then remove it. Enabling Dev Mode in the options will let you edit your ideology without having to reform.

My reasoning behind requiring the Serketist style is that these floors are not really meant for normal humans. They're made out of bug jelly, so it makes sense that only humans with a strong connection to insects would be able to and willing to make them.
Yukon 6 Sep, 2024 @ 2:05pm
@警觉调整者

There's a way around it, because I agree with a lot of the styled buildings. "Style Change Anytime" will let you use the style changing mechanic from when ideologies are disabled. That way, you can choose to use the default style, or any other. Strong recommendation.
