this looks great, though i have one minor stupid nitpick; the hev forearms look skinny in first person. great model though, when i saw the cover art remake on here i honestly thought it just *was* the cover art.

I built the model using your LoDs with no changes on 2013 single studiomdl and had the same issue. Made my own lod and built it also using 2013 single Studiomdl and it worked fine, might be the LoD itself thats the problem, the 2004 one works fine.

just checked the lod, i think its studiomdl's fault

the 2003 suit mesh does have an actual file that's loaded and compiled, but apparently studiomdl maybe ignores bodygroups in LODs? idk, just gonna disable suit LODs in general

most of gmod's animations use the ACT_GMOD or ACT_HL2MP prefix, except for the landing one

While fair, by their very nature the NPC and playermodel animation sets are incompatible due to sharing sequence names, i only have seen the jump land animation be incorrect, theres probably more severe ones ive missed.

the npc animations are merged for a specific reason: file size & convenience

when i'd need to push an update, i would have to compile 4 versions of the same model, with 2 of them taking a while, so to save myself time during development i just merged them

Yeah the LoD model for the 2003 HEV just makes it invisible, also the playermodels have NPC animations intermingled into the playermodel animations, which is bad, those should be seperate since it causes some playermodel animations to be overwritten with NPC ones like landing from a long jump.

The LOD model for the 2003 HEV suit design doesn't exist apparently. It makes the HEV suit disappear at long distances, making Gordon become a floating head.

Ported this to SFM, and with additional work in post (Ex - Photoshop), it really does look like something Valve would make. Insane model, amazing work :bms_crowbar:

Just do some paintover on the model for the posters and you got a real Valve promo art from HL2 and the eps.

Please add view model body groups so the c_hands can also match the black arms HEV suit too. Like Gunslinger said, add prongs on the arms too. Add the prongs as a third c_hands body group & model body group. The black arms without prongs and the orange arms can be two body groups and c_hands.

Honestly the only improvement i can imagine is maybe another suit model with the beta prongs on the arms to match the item_suit version of the HEV (i know its supposed to be a recreation based off the concept arts), as it is though its already probably the best Gordon model imo.
