will creep spread through walls or can i contain it to a room? also they wont construct it for some reason even though in have the resources

Hello, I used the tame psycast from VPE on the patriarch and tamed it. It now produces burrows every few days that spawn one of the royal insect castes of it's own volition. While I know Sarg has stated that the patriarch cannot be tamed, when tamed and drafted it says it loses its abilities due to no longer having connection to a wild hive. The royal insects spawned from these tame burrows are lobotomized and struggle to eat and sleep.I feel as though this could be turned into a potentially interesting mechanic, and a tame patriarch could have its own retinue of royal bugs like the empress has with her being a mobile hive, with some form of downside (like the royal caste needing to eat royal jelly instead of standard jelly) and potentially a way to upgrade sorne hives into royal hives.

can you experience all the content and gameplay without the story teller? does she only affect difficulty which is what the description seems too say?

Good afternoon, I’m playing RimWorld with the Vanilla Expanded Insectoids 2 mod and I’d like to report a bug. When I domesticated the Patriarch, it didn’t allow me to use its abilities — that part is fine. However, I couldn’t help but notice that the Patriarch passively and over time uses its abilities on its own. The Royal Insects already come domesticated, so I’m kind of taking advantage of this to get free insect meat…

I love the behavior of the hunter insects so much, autonomously going after animals and bringing it back the corpse to the hive was such a cool idea.

After destroying all hives in the hive quest Rimworld will still flag the quest as incomplete, also not being able to stop these just leads to loads of insect hives everywhere kind of breaking the game, gotta be real, its an excellent idea but its executed very poorly

just had a hard crash to desktop when one of my megaspiders decided to hunt a Zebra from Vanilla animals expanded, as soon as he took a swing it would hard crash. Once I discovered the cause(took a few restarts to narrow it down) I was able to avoid just by having another nearby pawn just hunt the Zebra instead.

NanoDesu if you have Vanilla expanded events mod you'll then see an option under that to reduce the frequency of most events, including ones from this

How do you get enough insect jelly without cheating (dev god mode) or editing your scenario when using this together with the Insector race mod (also by Vanilla Expanded)?

The insectors need insect jelly (even though i haven't seem them die or have negative modifiers when running out of it, the hives that spawn the bugs and (some) insect jelly require 120 jelly, and the jelly farms need like 80 to build.

In that scenario you spawn with 6 insector pawns but they require way more insect jelly upkeep then what you need to start building the production buildings after researching the basic hivetech technology.

I guess taking on another hive could work to get the needed materials but this isn't realistic when you're just starting out in the insector scenario.

Is anyone having issues where you can't fly a gravship to insectoid hive quest locations? Trying to do so only gives you a "Tile is occupied" message.

So my own question is this How do I get my Hunter class insectoids to actually HUNT!? all they do is wander round the hive and I can draft them I can designate targets to be hunted but the hunters do nothing, what am I missing here?

Will the bosses that are created from chestbursting a player’s pawn automatically tame? *Specifically if im using non-insectoid pawns,* will i have to hostile tame each and every one of the thirty teramantises i want for my swarm?

Love the mod! Feature request though. Odyssey added the ability to have walls be diagonal on the ship. I've seem that functionality in other mods for other walls. Could we get that for hive walls? square buildings just seems odd for a hive.

@demonk might have to use dev mode to remove fog of war. Odds are a nest spawned inside a mountain somewhere and isn't visible. Happened to me before.

Confirmed: It uses the milk code. You must have a tamed empress of adult age before you start getting royal jelly.

Animals can be milked when they're of the Adult stage, but I don't know if dropping royal jelly uses the milking code or not.

I've had my queen for 51 days, now, but I don't have any royal jelly. And my food policy prohibits it, and nobody's starving to override it. Do empresses need to be a certain age before they start producing it?

UI becomes deep fried and unresponsive when attempting to remove this mod from load order. As I suspect this is causing another game breaking bug, save is now bricked. Classic Oskar

I get the mission to destroy the hive: all insectoids and nests.

I did destroy all, searched the map with z for any destructible objects --- and mission doesn't want to end. What should I do / search for ?

Had the chance to do some devmode testing. Thumper raids indeed only generate meat and chitin.

Don't have the time to jump into debug save right now and check myself, but you can't get starting insect jelly from a thumper raid, can you? Caravanning around to an infested tile to try to harvest enough jelly is super time consuming. And it can be hard to keep your colonists from eating it anyway...

while making a insect based colony i relized something that is odd, colonist dislike insect structers, you can make them like creep but theres no way to make nest, glow pods, ect pawns dislike how they look even tho its a insect loving colony

@Grawlichs yeah, i noticed that too, while an insect colony generally isnt worth it building....a small protected one just to print out a stack of static pods is well worth it.

Sustainable power that isn't gated by components or steel, is consistent, has no real location requirement, takes up almost no space, and is unaffected by any events other than solar flare is pretty strong. And with how close you can stack the jelly farms you can get a ton of them really fast.

Prolly the single strongest thing you can do with your hive unless you're using some ludicrously powerful power generation mods. And doesn't require any summoning or cores. Just enough insect jelly to get the first hive, creep, and jelly farm.

Just noticed that in my current run, staticpods don't cost royal jelly, only 40 normal jelly. Not sure if this was an intentional balance change or a bug, but I figured I'd let someone know.

Playing a Mechanitor colony with a nearby hive and the idea occurred to me to send my toxic waste to the bugs as a way to get rid of it. Would be interesting if this was a way to juice up a hive for higher risk and higher reward as right now it seems to just have default faction base behavior

Quick question, what is the intended use for the Burrow wall? I don't see it mentioned in there mod description or change log. It seems very similar to the Hive wall. Just taking more work and beeing less flamable I suppose. But they look kinda special since they don't connect with other walls.

Suggestion: It would be nice to have something like a no-creep zone where Creepers will aboid spreading creep too. So you can grow your creep around your farms/fertile soil more easily. Alternatively a more fertile sort of creep would be also cool.

Suggestion: Choosing Insect wings plus a cosmetic wing set (Alpha Genes) should be made possible. The cosmetic wings then act like functional wing. This would allow you to have different sorts of functioning wings.

I feel like the Creeper spread needs to be sped up substantially, I've had a creeper up for like an in-game year and it's spread to a grand total of 25 tiles. It's basically about the size of a bedroom. I wanted to build a defensive line of thornspitters and thornworms but it's practically impossible when the creep speed is so absurdly slow. Even just doubling the speed to one creep tile a day who help dramatically, but ideally I'd say it should extend one tile every 12 hrs. Insectoids are characterised by their rapid expansion and versatility. At it's current pace, it would take TWENTY ONE in-game years to reach the Creeper's max radius. That's stupid and you know it.
